I wore a rolex daytona replica a few years ago. And it caused a few people around me to be impressed looking at my watch from afar. But I'm always honest, when someone came to me and told me that I have a really nice watch. I just told them that it's actually fake and I got it for $30. Tons of authentic Rolex’s have blue AR under the crystal. There’s actually 2 types of crystal variations from the watches I’ve purchased over the years (3 genuine GMTs from the same AD). This is not indicative the watch is fake. Sloppy magnification? Yes.

I bought a clone Rolex in Shanghai for $700 and took it to the Rolex store whilst still in Shanghai. I asked the sales lady to check it and tell me if it was fake. She observed the movement, felt the weight, even looked at the serial number and later informed me it was real (Provided she never opened opened the watch to closely inspect the movement.) So they must have improved their quality as I left the store laughing to myself as I honestly couldn't believe it.

Even to the point where counterfeit parts are interchangeable with genuine and vice versus. Ill wait for somebody else to chime in and confirm it to be 100% sure before taking it as gospel

The factory was raided and shut down a few months ago but many others are copying the technique as of August. At this point the only "tell" in a super clone is whether or not the balance spring is blue.

My uncle, on a trip to Mexico, was stopped by a street vendor selling Rolex watches. The watches were for sale at 9 dollars (USA). Superficially the watches were made to resemble Rolex watches in appearance with the heft of case and band. Amused, knowing that these watches had to be fake, my uncle bought one of them. When he took the watch home, he laughed at his purchase for even the name Rolex was misspelled 'Rolix' on the watch face. Nevertheless he often wore that watch, being careful not to get it wet; and amazingly its cardboard works kept fairly good time. He still breaks out that watch time to time to tease or test someone.

I do garage sales and in the last couple years I've found 5 fake Rolex watches. The only reason the people sold them was they stopped working. I paid from $1 to $3 each as I recall. There seem to be tons of them out there. Most buyers are "middle class" people who really couldn't care less about having a genuine Rolex. Some even joke about their "Chinese Rolex." After studying the situation I no longer think most fake Rolex buyers are trying to fool anyone. I think it's more about laughing at people who waste so much money on a vanity item. They're mocking the wealthy or those who are pretending to be rich.

I purchased two Submariner 16610 in the early nineties and they were definitely not smooth to wind or change date. I had the same with a ladies Rolex in 1997 all went back to Rolex to be sorted but were never that smooth.

Yup, that is my recommendation as well. Desire is an acquired thing that is cultivated in us by ads and influencers. We are groomed to want these things. You can just as easily "unacquire" it by not desiring it. Problem solved. There is no status value in a Rolex if you do not value a Rolex as an object that has any meaningful import. No way someone in China can produce anything even remotely close to what Rolex can make, to believe it is extremely naive. If you’re making Rolex money, people aren’t going to question the legitimacy of the watch on your wrist, unless you’re around others with Rolex money who can tell. It’s not worth the anxiety of being found out. Buying luxury watches isn’t just about the watch itself. It’s about the self validation that you’re doing well. You’ve unlocked the ability to purchase something not everyone can. You’ve got the chance to own a piece of amazing craftsmanship and respect said craftsmen who have spent years honing their trade. Buying fake wouldn’t even cross my mind and I’m probably getting to that point in life where I can afford one. But I won’t pull the trigger until that “probably” becomes a certainty - just because I enjoy the Watches of Switzerland service experience and the time I get to select the right model. One thing that does favour in though is that I’ll never buy anything too expensive just because of the amount of watch jacking happening in the U.K. at the moment. As soon as your on the street moron starts to identify that a watch is valuable, there’s no real fun in being hit in the side of the head coming out of a shop whilst they pull that thing off your wrist and head on down the road without any repercussions. Unless you are 3 inches away, have a good quality loupe, and the genuine watch right next to you, it is almost impossible to identify a fake from 3-6 feet away when worn on the wrist. Especially when the wrist is in motion. AB could be wearing a fake on his wrist during this recording and there is no way to tell (However, I don't believe he is).

I'm fortunate enough to have decent collection, inc 1 AP and 2 Rolex( not fan of a brand at all, but undisputed quality is simple on their side) mostly Omega pieces, few recent like Tintin , but mostly vintage models. I just don't understand why you wouldn't go for something Swiss as an alternative if you wanted a "Rolex" in the first place. In the mid 90s as a young man I visited a Singapore market - someone asked if I wanted a Rolex. Took me into a room with multiple glass cabinets chock full of “Rolex”, every design you could imagine for about 20 dollars. I picked up a two tone datejust, known today as an “uncle watch” in Asia. Within weeks I hated it, scratched no itches and kept horrible time. Never again lol. Looks like they are a bit more fancy today, but even back then they would fool anyone not looking with a loupe - regardless, they still scratch no itches.

So…as long as you have a microscope. And an extensive knowledge of what to look for. You can spot the fake. I have stopped adding to my collection ever since the Apple Watch came out. Part of the reason I stopped collecting also is because fakes are so good now. Beyond good. Bordering on excellent. It made me wary of buying anything outside an AD. And it made me also realize that these big name watch makers are a total rip off. $15,000 for the real one. Or $500 for something 99.5% the same. It’s not the price per se. It’s the perceived value. And ‘high end’ watches don’t hold any value for me any more.

9:13 you can see it lacks the balance adjustments to fine tune the timing. I don't know the terminology but the fakes like in this frame has two extending parts over this wheel...real Rolex's only have one end part over this wheel. This for me is the primary way for checking to see if its a real or fake Rolex. All that other stuff is blah. You can install a new crystal and original Rolex watch bracelet etc on a fake watch but they to my knowledge have yet to reproduce the actual movement to the letter.

If in doubt, use a loupe to look at it better ..Feel the bracelets edges , the cases edges , the bezel and the clasp, do they they feel sharp ? And if still on doubt say to the seller you want an appraisal ..Opening up the watch will reveal its authenticity ... Say -You'll pay it and you choose who . If it's a fake they're trying to sell you.. they'll not be up for any appraisal

When there is such a contrast between price fake and new. The differences to a non Rolex to a real one are quite minimal. The quality obviously that goes into the genuine is much higher grade, and I wouldn’t want anything less, if I’m spending thousands of dollars to buy one. However, unless your a real good connoisseur, and your not yet in that higher tax bracket, you can go buy the really good quality knock off. No one would really notice, unless your cheaply showing it off, and that point someone one will call you out on it.

Why not just have one identifier, like the serial number you mentioned. This number can be entered on the Rolex website, and that is how you verify key details like when it was built, where, what the make, and model is, and if it was ever serviced. Simple, unsure why and how other identifiers are even relevant when you have first-hand info from the watch-maker on their legit website?

It hardly seems like it is worth buying a real Rolex watch when you can get something that looks very similar and runs for a few years for a fraction of the price. Anyway, these days most people use cell phones instead of watches. At one time it was really useful to have a highly accurate watch, and those things were expensive when they were mechanical watches, but now with digital chips? (Obviously the information in this video is very useful for people who are dealing in expensive watches.) I have a Rolex Oyster that cost me $45 and looks nice, which I wear occasionally, but my main concern with a cheap copy would be that the gold on the bracelet would wear off quickly, or that it would tarnish. Stainless steel is probably better.

Thanks for comparison :) , difference is very small , and that means that there is something wrong with Genuine one and there is nothing wrong with Fake one , plus i do know how to spot the fake one in one second and those parameters used in many videos for identification between Real and Fake models are incorrect and almost useless because its absolutely something else which reveals diferrence between Real and Fake , at your particular example Fake one is the one you promoted as Genuine , or othervise your Fake one is just made of better quality material than your Genuine model , which brings us to another subject that any salesmans dont want customers to know . .

I am from Guangzhou china and have some interest in watches, the watch shown in this video in china is around 120 dollars if you buy it in Guangzhou. The rep 3135 used on this watch is considered a pretty bad one selling for 20 dollars, amazing how many times the price flips when it comes into the US

Frankly if someone is spending $500 on a replica of this quality, they’re getting ripped off from the start, my $90 replica meets almost all of those requirements except serial number and I’m sure some of the internals. But yeah I think they’re catching on and improving at a rapid rate.
