The funny thing about the guide describing HP as a measure of how "tired" a Pokemon is - is that's it's correct! Canonically, a fainted Pokemon isn't actually knocked out, they're declared too exhausted to battle and are taken out of the fight to prevent permanent damage. This is why fainted Pokemon can still use field HMs - they're not unconscious.
@RedJuiceFishBowlMan2 жыл бұрын
I like this a lot, because I've actually never seen or heard anyone talk about the fainting mechanic in pokemon games. I am grateful for someone taking a chance at broaching the subject.
@slugcat62262 жыл бұрын
That’s probably also why we never see Pokémon die, they’re taken out of battle or another dangerous situation after fainting to prevent it. We’ve seen Pokémon graveyards though, so that probably confirms the fact that Pokémon CAN die.

Funnily enough, X & Y were the last games I bought the guide for. That wasn’t a conscious decision or anything, I just didn’t end up buying the next ones. One detail I remember from the guide is that page about the Fairy Type that Sea mentioned. It said you could think of Fairy as the “light” or “magic” type. And it pointed out the logic of its type matchups - Steel type trumps Fairy because in some folk tales, fairies can be harmed by certain metals.
@JubioHDX Жыл бұрын
Yea thats something i figured out after a few generations passed 6, Fairy is more fairytale and less just the bright pink pixies that x/y made it kind of initially seem like. And in alot of old fairytales theres alot more gross creatures and the steel thing like you said

The wrong moveset for Gardevoir comes from them making the assumption it would have a moveset like most trainers on routes instead of like a gym leader, Elite 4 member, champion, or other important story characters. A NATIONS STRENGTH. The actual Combined Level or Power or Something of a Pokemon-Region and therefore its actual theoretical Military Might: This is literally something i see non-covered by all of the Poke-Tubers. What about Poke-Goverments overall!? Theres soooo much to ask aka cover here. So much. Who stacks up against which other Region? What does it all mean? Who is who and what is what?

Same here. #1- Johto #2- Kalos #3- Hoenn
@Chris-fz2ui3 жыл бұрын
I mean Johtos problems are gigantic you have like 10 mons that are viable to use the game is balls easy the level curve is shit and Johto is literally half the region because of Kanto. Almost all of the new mons appear in kanto for some reason which is postgame as do the evo stones
@fgetsuga03 жыл бұрын
@@Chris-fz2ui The "10" mon issue is because "everyone" collectively seemed to forget how to read or use their pokedex' or be for about the adventure. The majority of pokémon fans were kids so it was expected in later generations they were going to make more mons "available" to catch. There's Girafarig above Mahogany town. Tyrougue & Marill in Mt. Mortar. Chinchou in the starting town & many other routes and cities (with good rod I think 5% encounter rate). Magmar in the burned tower & Magnemite in route 38 right next door. Ursaring (gold), Skarmory + Donphan (silver) below blackthorn city on route 45. Corsola in olivine city as well as krabby, staryu, and shellder (usually just roll with totodile as my water type or pick up chinchou or poliwag). Heracross through headbutting everything to oblivion as well as pineco. You actually had to *think* in this generation to build a decent pre- elite 4 team (majorly due to GF' bizarre regional roster placements like *NO* dark types in johto except umbreon if you slow creep the pokémon league like really Gamefreak? 😕). Even still with gen 2' cut-n-dry problems, if it weren't for these games... Pokémon would have ended right then and there.
@Chris-fz2ui3 жыл бұрын
@@fgetsuga0 3 of the mons you listed are gen 1 mons and most of them aren't even viable like come on are you going to be using a corsola? Also the fact that you were able to summarise every catchable pokemon in one paragraph just proves my point

I hope this comment goes unnoticed since I don’t really like to talk about myself. Around 2 years ago I got very ill. It was to the point that drinking water was the only thing I could do without pain. This lasted around 7-9 months. I remember being so hungry one day that I said if I eat small amounts over a long time then I won’t be in pain. I needed a long video to make sure I ate slowly and that video was one of your “playing a Pokémon game how Nintendo wanted”. I just remember the calming effect that your videos had on me. I remember seeing your video on the last few weeks that I was severely ill. By then I already had hope and was happy just to be able to eat small bits a day. Your videos will always remind me of the hope that still exists in even the most mundane of things. I still try to watch your newer videos but as I’m no longer sick I can actually spend time outside in the world. Some days like today I come back to listen to you as I fall asleep. Feeling that warmth of hope and familiarity still inside. Here’s to many more years of hope

I got a your video on "What happened to Pokemon Z version?" in my recommended at 3 am 2 times in a row and then I watched this video a few hours later and then Hoopa started appearing in Pokemon go (or it's rings I guess). Coincidence? I think not! If this does not make XY remakes happen then idk what will tbh if XY remakes did happen that would be insane. but that prob won't happen till something like 2028 sadly because new generations and BW remakes and DP remakes. Fat speculation over here though. And I am just getting desperate xD

So getting to see these strategy guides through videos is pretty cool. Anyways have a nice day.

the reason the guide says Laverre Town isnt a good vacation spot is actually pretty interesting: its supposedly locked in one season all year round, and the clock face has thirteen hours on it, without any npcs seeming to realize that such a clock would be one hour later every twelve immediately. this suggests that theres something supernatural about the town, fitting of the alien-lookin fairy-tale gym leader i think the implication is that whatever is causing the supernatural events is not ENTIRELY safe, so for normal people who arent immediately at home there, it could be potentially hazardous to remain there for an extended period unless you intend to move there

@19:35 While not “Nintended”, you can use Bone Rush, and if you get 3 hits, Korrina doesn’t get to take a turn. It’s RNG, but after a few tries on various playthroughs, I finally managed that on my recent playthrough because I though it’d be an interesting challenge to attempt a no damage battle for the fight. Love the video, PaPaSea!

honestly after I started playing nuzlocke and turning off the exp share in the latter generations, I've never been more satisfied with pokemon games before. Replaying emerald in nuzlocke, y and moon in nuzlocke too made those games waaay too more emotional, intense and personal than the proper version. Emerald in particular started way too hard after the second gym killed almost my entire team, starter included and only left a zigzagoon, and ended in a particularly brutal pokemon league. After I passed the elite four with minimun casualties, (a linoone at the top end of the lv 60s, now my signature pokemon, packing ice beam casually one shoting dragon after dragon), came wallace, and ohh boy, this battle was on a whole different level. In the end, in a moment reminiscent of how the game started, linoone managed to pull through and get me the win after the rest of my team had died. Kinda wish they included something like the difficulties of black and white (or bw2) but unlocked right off the bat. I know that something like outright nuzlocke is way too intense for a children's game, but a way of increasing the challenge for the older players would be nice. It feels each gem the games get easier and easier, with features like the exp share, and the general difficulty of the npcs lowered. Even in pokemon moon nuzlocke, with the exp share off, there were only two times I felt like I could actually loose (and actually did loose one of those, had to go back to the previous save point cuz I wasn't starting a new run that far into the game). And one of those was the league champion, which is supposed to be a hard fight.
