I’ve watched a ton of R1T videos to the point where my wife just rolls her eyes and zones out. This is the first time she’s paid attention because you had your wife speak about it and the practicality of the features and not just all of the tech/nerd features everyone else goes on about. Her two cents was really valuable and it’s awesome seeing more of her in your videos.

On the 150 kW charging cap, see Out of Spec's recent videos about charging their demo Mercedes EQS - the issue is almost certainly that the R1T is a 400V architecture, so to charge over 150kW, you need a 500 Amp CCS charger. Most 350 kW chargers only supply over 150 kW to 800V vehicles like the Hyundai EV6 - because they can only supply 350 Amps, and count "350 kW" when charging at 1000 Volts. Some EVgo units are 500 Amp units for both 400V and 800V, so they can charge the Rivian at 200 kW. (Or more if they Rivian actually charges over 400V. Since you were getting 150, that implies it was drawing ~430V, so a 500A system they'd get ~225kW. I'm guessing the Rivian Adventure Network are ~700A?)

I’m really impressed with what they’ve developed. The size is practical without being too giant, the design seems distinctive and friendly without being aggressive. I do worry about service and support, long term viability of the company, and the charging issues you mentioned. The price increase really hurt the appeal, too. I’d prefer a Lucid Air, but have many of the same concerns about them. Here’s to hoping GM releases some sporty electric coupes and convertibles (in addition to the awesome trucks and SUVs they have coming). I’ll be first in line.

I was really excited for the R1S but with the recent large price hike, I can't say it's worth it when it is essentially the same cost as a Model X without the proven track record Tesla has and built out infrastructure. Mentioning the price was a good piece, but it feels like this was dropped at a time when they're trying to contain a PR issue with the ~20% price hike. I appreciate the video and it was done well.

I have a Model Y now and a R1S on order. The base mode R1S is still $72,500 - it’s original price but no upgrades. You’re getting ~260mi range, which is basically equal to Tesla’s estimated 330 range cars. The R1S at ~$72k is honesty way under market value. Consider everything you’re getting, and $72k relatively speaking is a steal.

Responding to your comment about if it does too much, in my case, the primary reason I bought an R1T is because it can go from top notch sports-car to highly-capable off-road performance with a few taps. This is a great truck, but raising the price in the manner they did definitely made me have doubts about Rivian as a company. @not today - Re: "Halved forecast to 25K units for 2022." Common misinformation. Media and others have incorrectly reported this when Rivian has never said or documented they would deliver or even forecast an annual rate of 50k production units. What they did say is they have the production capability to produce over 50k vehicles per year, but due to supply constraints and other factors they calculated an annual rate of 25k for 2022. None the less, it's unfortunate for those waiting over 3 years for their Rivian EAV due to totally unforeseen circumstances (e.g. pandemic, supply shortage, war in Ukraine, etc.) that would delay their delivery. EDIT: Also, Rivian is far from the only auto manufacturer affected by the recent and current environment. E.g. Ford has temporarily removed the two middle trim levels (California Route and Premium) for the Mach-E from their website.

Looking at what is available in the Blue and currently the long 400 mile which if you plan on any towing would be much more effective since towing can reduce the range by 40% to 50%. Based on their configuration was over 100k with the powered Tonneau Cover. So definitely pricey.
