This is why I respect the Best Motoring crew. They are legit drivers who push these cars to their limits no doubt. But are also so humble to give credit to a car that is surperior to their own domestic offering. Big fan for the past 25 years!

As a non japanese person i am very surprised that the Japanese persons who comment this video are so much against their own car industry. As a matter of fact i find it's a pity to put down the car industry of your country so much. We Europeans defend always our industries and never try to pout them down. As un European i find generally Lexus cars among best cars in the Auto industry. Having owned some german, french and also Japanese cars in can attest as an owner that Lexus's are definitely among the bests Autos and for sure comparable to Mercedes and are sometimes even better. Be proud of your car industry.

It simply proves these are real race drivers not affected by bias. Love them for that. If you can't point out flaws by being passionate about the market they are from then how can they grow and provide meaningful opinions. Nobody wants to watch shills so to speak.

people say and think that because the amg gt63 has "gt" in it's name that it shares similarity with the amg gt coupe/roadsters. As someone who works on these vehicles I can tell you all straight up that it is not at all like the amg gt. Notable differences, the engine placement in the gt63 is a true front engine placement, not a mid front placement like the gt. The underchassis is more in line with the current lineup of mercedes benz sedans than with the gt, the gt63 uses multilink front and rear suspension similar to what you'll find on the full range of mercedes benz sedans and coupes for the current generation, the gt utilizes dual wishbones front and rear similar to the sls. The gt comes with a rear transaxle, the gt63 uses a conventional transmission design. When you drive the car you don't feel like you're driving a bigger gt, you feel like you're driving a heavier cls. The gt has much lighter steering thanks to the engine placement and is easy to throw around on the track due to it being very well balanced. The similarities between the two come in the form of the engine (while the gt63 uses a different version of the engine that is also found in the e63, the engine code is still the same for all amg 63 models, there are 3 main versions of the m177 engine family), the interior and the rear toe links. The interior is designed to be similar between the gt63 and the gt, you do feel less cramped in the gt63 sedan however. The rear toe links are an interesting feature as both vehicles come with available rear wheel steering that debuted on the gt-r. This makes a difference in handling capabilities for both vehicles but the difference is more noticeable on the gt vs the gt63, though it does help counter some of the understeer. Overall, the two vehicles may share a name, and an interior, but beyond that there are few similarities between the two vehicles, and it's confusing why mercedes benz decided to call this vehicle a "gt" when it feels more like what the cls63 would have been had it been produced for this current generation.
@alfredwilsbury83973 жыл бұрын
I think they called it "gt" because it takes alot of its styling from the actual gt. Consumers most likely think its like the gt simply because the styling seems to confirm it. Most people who buy cars nowadays don't really look at the details underneath the skin just the performance stats and how it looks.

And here I thought Japan only liked small cars in their home country and is happy to sell big cars in foreign countries.
Thank you for the English subs! Not really a class comparison and they acknowledge that, but still nice to see their impressions on both. These are cars 90% of people who aren't car enthusiasts would see as more than "really nice cars", so it's nice to see them tracked and reviewed properly.

This Mercedes is a real AMG. Build to be raced! But it is flawed by design because of its heavy weight. A car with a curb weight of over two tons simply will never be as quick and responsive as a lighter chassis. The strong engine and transmission combined with the four wheel steering make up for the weight but Mercedes needs to develop a lighter chassis for them to truly develop their maximum potential.

This was like reading old school car magazine back in the day. I love how Japanese really know how to give such good content
I don't get it. What is RCF's purpose? Sure it's not a car that is meant to be driven flat out, but why, then, bother adding all the carbon parts and claim to be tested on nurburgring? If you claim any car to be tested at nurburgring you're advertising for speed. However, RCF doesn't seem to have great sportiness. Oxymoronic. Even at this price the track edition is still condemned for being overpriced in the US. Can Toyota be serious about this car again? They definitely have the ability just look at GR Yaris, but they still, to this day, don't have a flagship. Maybe LFA's financial loss scared them too much.
@traviswalker89333 жыл бұрын
It's not only the loss form the LFA but the economic slowdown as well which keeps them from making a flagship sports car. Not only the RC-F but the LC-500 is also a purpose less car which doesn't make much sense.

The only remaining Lexus that's pretty good deal is the IS 500 F Sport (RC F's engine in a sedan). Mercedes is simply on another planet altogether.

It's great to know that Merc AMG GT63 performs so well here. AWD and AWS! HOLD ON! Lets rewind our clocks back to early 90s.... A Mitsubishi GTO Twin Turbo (3000GT). It also had 4WD and 4WS. Sadly it fell behind Honda (Acura) NSX, Toyota Supra RZ (2JZ engined) and many sports cars in that class. I drove the Mitsi GTO Twin Turbo before. It was a great car until I drove a base Merc SLK 200 which felt more agile around corners. Will Mitsubishi redeem its embarrassment with their new AWD, AWS sports car? Probably not for now as manufacturers pretty much heavily focus on SUVs for sales. Personally I still prefer a lower but yet practical Estate cars as they have better road manners.
@Keckegenkai3 жыл бұрын
aws really became viable in the last 10 years. before that it was more of an annoying gimmick.. if you think that even military trucks of ww2 had aws it took a long time till it found its way into the small car market.
@alouisschafer72123 жыл бұрын
I think focusing on whatever brings the most sales is very destructive in the long run. It damages reputation and results in poorly engineered cheapified cars thrown together for quick cash.
just realized that the drivers are using the full off "hidden" RC F stability control mode. google translate: ドライバーが完全にオフの「隠された」RC F スタビリティー・コントロール・モードを使用していることに今気付きました。
