We go crabbing off the dock and catch enough BIG blue crabs for dinner, as well as let a lot of small ones go! We use multiple crab traps, including my Grandma's trap! We use fish carcasses as bait and show you how to clean the crabs. We then meet you back in the kitchen in Pompano Beach to show you our favorite crab recipe that my family has been making for years! We don't have that many blue crabs, so we also cook up some King Crabs and then some linguine! It was all delicious!

Yes, the whole scene was so relaxing. I grew up working side by side with my whole family on our NYS Farm. Eating the evening meal after a long day of work restored and refreshed us before an outdoor game of softball or volleyball, etc... You just have to wish we recorded memories like Brooke and her family are. Much needed in this day and age.

I used to go crabbing for blues with my father back up in NJ, and we were taught a really neat trick by a guy who we met. You take a can of wet cat food, and punch small holes in it, and put that in the trap. We also used chicken backs as bait, and I'll tell you, the smell and oil from that cat food attracts those crabs like crazy. You should try it sometime.

I have a shore house and we have 3 traps! We keep them all in the water off the dock but also keep a bucket, which we've drilled holes into it so that when we catch them, they stay in the bucket and in the water and they stay fresh! Definitely recommend doing that versus having them having a possibility of escaping the traps!

A dream I will take to heaven with me cuz I would love to live in the country with a big garden and big farm with lots of farm animals adjacent to the Sea👍 so I could have the best of both worlds, as longs as there was more wildlife then humans and wholesome lessons for grandkids instead of internet games and unguided friends to hang out with. Thank God my kids and grandkids mind there manners and are good at heart not to say they can't be a pain in the rear but all and all I'm very Blessed with what I have! God Bless you all!

I am from MD, and of course I cook my crabs alive and then clean them. In MD people either like Old Bay or JO seasoning, I am a JO person, while my wife likes Old Bay. Actually J.O. Seasoning comes in different mixtures (#1 -#9) ,the one your father was using JO #2 is the most popular (and is used at most crab houses in MD and is my favorite!) I really can not wait to try your crab marinara recipe and will do so once i go crabbing this season. We just have had a few car issues recently that have prevented me from crabbing this year.

Former Merrylander here. A friend from the south New Jersey of Italian decent invite me to dinner one night for what he called crabs and macaroni. I thought to myself, who cooks crabs with macaroni? Turns out it was an old Italian recipe where the meat on the marinara sauce was small blue crabs that had been cleaned them dropped in the tomato sauce for finish cooking, served with pasta. It was different, but nothing close to broiled or fried crab cakes or steamed crabs. Brooke, a half a dozen crabs is just a starter for eating crabs for one person. The JO seasonings are available with just the spices, and then the crab house adds salt to replicate Old Bay. With the cost of crabs this year, ($400 a bushel for #1's) I don't like crabs that much. Even crab cakes I splurge on a couple times a year have gone for $18 per 8 ounce crab cake to $26, plus another $40 shipping. I'll eat beef instead.
