I know I am late to the party, but I live in Wichita and I get so excited whenever Judge Webster makes mention of something Wichita-related in her hearings. El Dorado is about a 40 minute drive from my home; Andover is 20. I'm actually sitting in my car looking at the highway in question in this case (Kellogg/US54) right now, as my home is situated alongside it. ANYWAY, all that being said, I love Judge Webster and I'm constantly brainstorming ways I could end up on her docket without actually being in trouble. 😅

Regier seems to have a hidden sense for people who intend to give a hard time irrationally. I contrast this with the one time where the defendant actually won; Regier was thorough, but he wasn't overbearing. It actually benefited the defendant and made the victory more thorough.

Maybe they shouldn't break the law then? In this day and age, there is electronic evidence showing proof of crimes. It may not have been like that back in your day, but if you're not willing to suffer the consequences, don't break the law. Super simple.
@Vykk_Draygo
@Vykk_Draygo Жыл бұрын
@@Smash_Nash I agree, don't break the law. But this isn't a binary proposition. People can, have, and will be falsely accused of offenses, even those as petty as speeding. I didn't see electronic evidence submitted in this case, and I don't think most cases such as this do. They rely on an officer's testimony as a witness and expert, which certainly has the potential to be fallible.
@lilybug246

JReiger was putting it to him to exhonerate the officer. If he was fired, based on this guy’s complaint, this officer now has a court ruling in his favor with the judge insisting he did have emergency lights on and did everything correctly. She stated the defendant was not being truthful. The officer has a good lawsuit for improperly being fired.

I commend her for getting on medication assisted therapy for the heroin. Addiction is a nasty spiral and I understand it too well. I was in a hospital bed for most of 2012 and wasn't expected to survive. I had so much dilaudid given to me via iv that it would probably kill her but it was necessary to deal with cancer pain. Because I wasn't expected to live dependency wasn't a worry. But when I started improving it quickly was a problem. They told me I would never be off opiates because that would kill me. And I struggled with the ups and downs of that dependency for 6 years until I decided I was done. I had a pain specialist kick me out of clinic and refused to refill my rx because she said I had no opiates in my urine test. She didn't even understand the reporting threshold for the test she ordered and my primary determined it was present in the test but slightly below the reporting level. That could have been a point where I turned to heroin to counter the withdrawal but thankfully my primary continued prescribing because my health was still very shaky and she worried stopping would cause such stress that it could kill me. When I was incredibly sick with the flu I just put the pills away so I couldn't see them and didn't think about them. I turned off medication reminders. I was already so sick my body didn't know the difference between opiate withdrawal and virus. 3 days later I started feeling better but the withdrawal pains didn't start. My doctor hugged me she was so excited at my next visit but said that I really shouldn't have tried that. I have had prescriptions for opiates for a broken bone but was so worried to start again but was assured because I wasn't psychologically addicted it was safe and it was. Mine wasn't a psychological addiction but a physiological one but it took a psychological toll nonetheless.

Good one test driving the vehicle….No sense! The officer did not answer you with a “stand still”. He noted that you drove out of your driveway, hint peeled out and floored it down the street. Dumb..a.. lawyer. Your defendant received the answer from the officer he is not obligated to show the speed instrument. Then you share your experience with speeding tickets.
