Funny fact actually, Vana and Pat used to film multiple episodes in the same day back then, but you were allowed 2 drinks at lunch time on the premises. They would go across the street to a bar, get further more drunk through the day, and it shows in some of the episodes that they're clearly more drunk than the one from the day before.

The 70s run of Match Game taped a week's worth of shows in one day, and they would have a "lunch" break (more of a drink break in reality) after taping the Wednesday episode. As a result, the Thursday and Friday shows were always a riot. Having seen reruns, I can tell which ones were Thursday and Friday shows, mainly from how Brett and Charles were behaving (Fannie Flagg said that they both hit the vodka martinis particularly hard)

Another piece of lost media (since Ru Paul's Drag Race was included) is the footage of Angelea Preston winning Cycle 17 of America's Next Top Model: All Stars. After initially winning, the producers discovered that between her cycle and the all star cycle, Angelea worked as an escort, thus disqualifying her. After realizing this, Angelea was stripped of her title and the segment where the winner was announced was re-recorded to only include Lisa DeAmato and Allison Harvard. The footage of Angelea winning has never surfaced.

I feel bad for the one contestant they were talking about who seemed to have a panic attack at the legends of the hidden temple gameshow, it kinda sucks how most likely if that was aired, just imagine the amount of people confused or worried or making fun of her for her reaction. I guess it is "unusual" that she had that reaction but still in an environment like a kid's game show, having a serious distressful moment like that leaves scars on an individual. I even had panic attacks when I go to theme parks and it's embarrassing because everyone is usually happy and enjoying themselves while you're completely frantic. Maybe I'm looking too deep into this because I have problems with having breakdowns in public spaces and the sheer embarrassment & shame that comes with it. But yeah, crazy video Jorge.

It sounds like it could've happened during the same production run that had the infamous episode where a Temple Guard ended up scaring a contestant right through the fourth wall of the temple set and out of the temple (I believe it was in the Tomb room right below the Shrine of the Silver Monkey that the incident took place).

This reminds me of an incident on a German game show "Wetten, dass...?" (Wanna bet, that...). [basis for the British show You Bet! and the American show Wanna Bet?] Samuel Koch, a 23-year-old aspiring stuntman, became a quadriplegic during a stunt performed on the show on 4 December 2010. The incident was broadcast live. The contestant took on a bet in which he was to try to jump over five moving cars using spring-loaded boots. the stunt went wrong during the fourth jump when Koch failed to clear the car, driven by his own father. The contestant fractured two cervical vertebrae and damaged his spinal cord.

About RuPaul's Drag Race Sherry Pie Unedited Footage (spoilers for Season 12): First, it's a competition AND reality TV show, meaning it not only focuses on competition and challenges but also on the storyline. This storyline has to be produced by the producers as the show is filming, which is months (sometimes even a year) prior to its airing. The editing is also done some time before. This means that the editors and the producers kinda have to guess who is going to be well recieved and who they want to be part of the storyline. Sherry, unfortunately, was a good competitor, and made it to the top 4, so she was present every episode and had to be edited out of the storyline and some challenges LAST MINUTE. This also means that she was a BIG part of the storyline, and most likely was set up to be a fan favorite, even a potential winner. Besides this awful situation (and the fact that it aired during the pandemic), Season 12 is seen as one of the best seasons of Drag Race, with one of the most popular casts (except Sherry ofc). Its main issue is the weird storyline. Because it had to be re-edited, it has much less drama, leading fans to speculate that not only was Sherry a big part of the storyline, she was the MAIN FOCUS. Runner-up Gigi Goode recieved a very weird edit, and she was speculated to be the "villain" of the season's storyline, with Sherry acting as the "hero". Winner of the season Jaida Essence Hall also had a weird edit; compared to previous winners, it was like she wasn't part of the storyline at all. The unedited episodes of Season 12 are lost media, and they are of interest to the fanbase, not because we want to see Sherry, but because we want to see what the original storyline of the season was, and how each competitor played a part in it, including their relations with Sherry along the competition. PS: the finale of the seasons is not filmed months in advance (except All Stars Seasons), but even if it was, they always film multiple crownings, so we wouldn't be at risk of Sherry winning. This is done because Drag Race has a HUGE community of spoilers, made up of reliable insiders or people with connections who "spill tea" about what's going to happen on the season as it is filming/before it airs. There's been instances of photos of alternate crownings being leaked before the airing of the season.

@carsausage
@carsausage 2 жыл бұрын
Legends of the Hidden Temple in particular often had very long, drawn out production days. Like many other game shows of the 90s (and today), the episodes were filmed in chunks, but due to the size limitations of the soundstages at Nickelodeon Studios, filming was usually done in a way where every group would do a certain segment before the next one would be rolled out. For the contestants, this meant that they spent a very long time waiting in the green room, either for other contestants to wrap up, for instance, the Steps of Knowledge, or wait for their turn to appear on the segment. By all accounts, filming could last 17 hours, with some season 3 episodes notably being taped without a live studio audience for the Temple Runs because filming had gone beyond the operating hours of Universal Studios Orlando. An average filming day for Legends of the Hidden Temple would start at 7 in the morning, and not wrap up until midnight that day.

Like gay guys would be able to see through some of these guys and point out when they're playing into stereotype. If headed by LGBT production, it might be a way to challenge homophobic views and media. Still how do you screen them out to make sure they're actually straight? So many gay and bisexual people manage to pass of as straight or have partners of the opposite sex. It's highly possible a whole bunch would try to get onto the show for the prize money and/or meme. Plus sexuality is so fluid and that's not even counting for non binary people who look male. Even if you included heterosexual masculine presenting NBs or gender fluid people (which in itself might be interesting), most of the lineup would be cis men and really it'd just play into the already existing divides. The idea is such a product of its time, reflecting its ignorance and pervasive and blatant homophobia and I'm glad it wasn't made a thing.

Wasn’t there also this game show with a really creepy host who always asked the contesters (who were usually small children) to kiss him on the lips. Sometimes he would get a little pushy with it. Imagine all the work and effort to create a show, build a set, hire staff and crew, be a part of a studio audience or even compete! Only for it to never see the light of day. I don't think that this is talked about too much anymore, but what I believe is deserving of being in the deepest layers of this iceberg is the three unaired episodes of "The Chamber", a very, very short lived game show from early 2002 in which contestants were subjected to brutal hot and cold conditions while being strapped to a rotating chair and answering trivia questions. Only the first three episodes were ever aired, but three more were recorded that have never been shown. Everything besides the first three tapings (and maybe one publicity bumper) remain lost. FOX may have it somewhere, but it would be incredible to find the unaired footage.
