When I was 17, my older brother was divorced by his wife. They had a daughter at the time under 1 years old. She cheated on him and told him she wanted a divorce. She was a full time student and had no job. My brother had no criminal records, a full time union job for 10+ years getting decent pay. He paid for everything she ever wanted and never laid a finger on her. In the divorce proceedings, she wanted full custody and the maximum pay while disclosing full well that she cheated and even said my brother was a good man. Well, she got it. I remember his divorce clearly. My brother was a broken man for years and his pain from that day still haunts me to this day. I have had many a relationships since then with good women who wanted me to marry me, but I said I would never get married because of my brothers story. Years later, more than half of those women got married, and then divorced. Strangely, just like the statistics predicted. Never ever ever ever ever get married gents. Not until they fix the system to be fair.

IMO, it's about finding quality person that wants most of the same things as you. You don't have to marry them, but you can have a satifying LTR with them. I live in Spain and everything you say is applicable here too. Two friends of mine got divoreced and their lives are fucked. They had to leave their apartments (paid by them 100% before getting married), rent a ROOM for themselves and in addition pay a monthly pension and only see their kids once every two weeks. The entire process is so one sided it's sickening. And both of them are going through psychological help. One of them put on 30kg and the other one lost 17kg. One of the couple dated for 12 years before getting married and the other 8 years. Sexless relationships (max twice a month) after a year of moving in together. After what I've seen, taking into account I don't want to be a father, a monogamous relationship is certainly not for me. Than you Rich for your work.

On the still married but not happy. My in-laws were married 38 years before he passed away. It took me nearly twenty years in their family to realize that they hated each others guts (unless they were out with the kids and grandkids, didn't really speak to each other and never in the same room together at home). When he passed, his family had a double tombstone made and inscribed "Married 38 years." I've said since that it should have also said "it was a life sentence." Two pearls of wisdom from my wonderful (and totally unfiltered) mother-in-law that validate so much of what Rich says. We were chatting about her other grown daughter while her husband and my wife were getting groceries. MIL comes out with, "With birth control and being able to work nowadays, I don't know why girls get married." This was my MIL talking to me after 7 years of marriage to her daughter. Second pearl, we're watching late 1950s vintage home movies and see my in-laws on one of their first dates shooting a rifle. My daughter, "Grandma, I didn't know you ever liked guns!" Mil, "Oh, that's that dating phase when you pretend to like what he likes." Yeah, she's a real sweetheart.

Indeed. Human beings are naturally unhappy in our fallen state I think it's part of God's curse. The difference is, women end up like that, putting no effort into to trying to be better. While most men are just as miserable but we still try to be better, appreciative, find reasons to love etc. Like God intended. Of course not all. But most of us do. While women just cost through life getting more and more miserable because they make no effort to truly love or appreciatie anything outside their temporary feelings of whatever moment they are in.

In the US, the marriage began to change in the late 60's and by the early 70's in most states the takeover was complete. My family lived in Illinois. My mother started torturing my father in the family court in 1973. By then, she had all the power. False domestic assault charges, her banging every guy in town, taking the house and half his income, defaming his reputation, etc. She had and did it all. Over and over again.

Saying to them wait 10-15 years before you consider entering into a serious LTR / marriage is an alien concept to them. You can’t at that age think that far ahead, or grasp this. I know I couldn’t. You’re living in the now, you’ve finally left the education system and you’re enjoying experiencing life as a grown adult man in it’s early stages for the very first time. You believe you can conquer the world. The reality is, you’re only just getting started. But, they don’t know this and why would they? They’ve so much to learn, not least that as a man your SMV increases slowly over a much longer period than they realise. But, until he experiences this, the penny is going to have trouble dropping. If not then she can claimed that she signed the PRENUP under DURESS and her lawyers will file that in court and your PRENUP will be nullified/thrown out/invalid/useless,,,,,,,,, The PRENUP is as good a toilet paper if she doesn't have legal representation there while she signs! I am a woman and I agree on the bullshit family law. I pay child support, $1000 a month making $28,000 a year to a stepmom who has guardianship after thier father shot himself in the head. I don't get to see the 2 kids. After 18 years he walked out on me after I fathfully stood by him. Through lots of mental illness. I take responsibility for my falling apart (just had 3rd child). I found out later they had planned it all. I lost everything...the stepmom manipulated us both in the end why family court ripped us both up. 10 years later I am still single and I relate. The system is fucked. I respect men and women who are stand up people. The distortions of masculinity is very sad. I am appalled at my sex in the overkill which is distorting our society. I honor and respect men. Blessed be to all in those stuck in those situations. processes.

Men are also 8 times more likely to commit suicide after a divorce. Much wiser to concentrate on unrestricted self-development in one's own career as well as attaining scire quod sciendum (Latin, "Knowledge worth having") such as spoken and programming languages, personal finance, monetary economics among many others. Keeping in shape is sine qua non too, you only have 1 body after all.

I'm in the UK, and as far as I'm concerned, there's zero benefit to being married if you're a guy (looks like the same elsewhere). The woman's argument that if you really loved them, you'd marry them, is rightly countered with you pointing out that if they loved you, you'd simply live happily together, have a joint account for the bills, and that's it.

After being divorced twice. I found your channel and it does interest me. My first wife was after a sperm donor with equity, she got both. My second wife was a narcissist, a gaslighter. I wish I had switched on and got informed about that. She was also committing fraud at work, so that brought our relationship rather hastily to an end when she was found out and I 'didn't' support her. You can't support what you don't know about. There are lots of theories, but I think you are very right in that women do plan divorce, for their own reasons and there is nothing you can do, to reverse it. All the reasonableness you ever had, communication, forget it. In both cases, I had tried my utmost to repair the relationship, at times when I tried to have a conversation about the relationship and be open, whats wrong etc. Guess what, in both cases, they both never uttered a squeak, when I asked them why they were quiet they would say 'I'm listening', great cop out. That there is a huge red flag...

An older acquaintance of mine, a Chinese-American woman in her 70's who never married, prides herself on how the women in her family rule the home. I often wonder how deluded she is to believe that that's so great, then tell her that if she's still open to getting married, she better find a Beta. With her the power of being in control over a man is the shit. IMO she's had some bad experiences with men in her past, made some bad decisions and refuses to take responsibility for those mistakes, is bitter and too scared to deal with her rage. So, pride + defensiveness + revenge is the way to go.
@machtnichtsseimann3 жыл бұрын
@Bryn Webster It reminds me of "300" where the King and Queen are partners at home with both voices heard, he rules in battle with his men, but don't disrespect her in public discourse. That is one model that works well, and sounds like Pre-Christian Celtic culture also worked well. In the case of my acquaintance, her eyes lit up when she spoke of how "in my family the women rule the home"...and added "the men are quiet". Based on the descriptions of the men in her family, they are quiet passive types, the brother in-law and her brother. If she had qualified it with how the wives respect their husbands at home, then it would sound like more of an equal partnership. So far, she's most into Feminine Power and not honest with herself to admit it.

I’m 38 and was with a woman 10 years but never married her. I loved her but I refused to give the government power to take half my property if she bailed. She would complain that nothing was really hers and it was all mine. I’d say no it’s yours too…as long as we are together 🤷🏼♂️. I shared everything I had with her just like it was hers. But the little farm was paid for by me and it was in my name only. When she cheated my stance was that she committed TREASON against the home and as a result she gets expelled with nothing but her personal items. And that’s exactly what happened. If I had legally married her some judge would have forced me to sell my farm to pay her half of it. Hell Fucking no! No way I’m ever putting myself in that position. I’m not afraid Of commitment to a woman I love but I absolutely will not give the government power to take away my property. I told her that up front and I wasn’t joking.

Ho, when I was married, the last name thing was the first concession. She wouldn't take my last name and she knew that didn't make me happy.
