I have a big gut and already tried appendix carry and it absolutely does not work for me but carrying at my 2:45 works out perfect. It's super comfortable, and my gut actually hangs over the back of the grip and slide which helps drape my shirt over it so the gun has absolutely no contact with my shirt thus no printing, not even when I bend over or reach for something up high. It may not allow for quite as fast as a draw as if you appendix carry, but I've done a good of practicing and I think I draw it plenty fast.

Great video. Because of "nearly" successful shoulder surgery, I'm unable to carry on my hip. My range of motion doesn't allow drawing in that position. Appendix carry has been the easiest and most comfortable for me. Even carrying my "brick-thick" PDP F-Series, I can carry tucked when needed. It really depends on how much thought and effort we want to put into something so important.

I kinda think that the long and the short of this is that these things are tools that aren't meant to be harmless. It's human error that causes these kinds of things to happen. Carelessness is not a good combination with a dangerous tool whether it's a gun or a table saw. (Yes, table saws will definitely kill you if you're careless.) I have been trying to drive that kind of lesson into my kids for years. It's a wonder any of us survive our teenage years. Great video.

I think so also. I don't carry a gun that doesn't have a thumb or external safety. From the time I was very young hunting and trapping safety was pressed into my thinking, it's second nature. Sometimes just a simple mistake can cause someone else, or even ourselves to lose a limb or a life.

We have exact logic-did you see the news 2 days ago very oddly described the officer reached into the man’s waistband and the pistol ‘went off’! (Can’t make this stuff up) driver did exactly as we are taught told officer he was armed and where the pistol was etc..officer ‘asked’ him to step out while he pawed around the man’s waistband to take his gun (unsure why) the police then described the event that the gun accidentally‘went off’ !! As tho there are multiple ways a handgun discharges? They had to apply tourniquet for same reasons you mentioned… as fewer laws limit armed citizens I’m afraid more people will be accidentally shot by untrained police! All he had to do was to ask him to place the firearm on the squad cars hood or something smarter… there’s just no reason to touch another man’s pistol let alone shoot him in the front thigh . :( I will tag you in another comment for you to see the copsplaiming the pistol ‘went off’. :(

OWB hip carry for duty and competition where reholstering is going to be a thing. Appendix carry is perfectly safe and fine for concealed carry where drawing will only happen in defense. Fact is you stand a chance of shooting yourself with a bad draw stroke from either position.

@CarryTrainer I mean with a quality handgun with no manual safety and a quality holster and the handgun is loaded and is there a chance that it could still be considered dangerous in the holster if edc? If not, why not and if so, when would it be considered dangerous? Is there a chance that something could still go wrong when the handgun is in the holster or do you just have to be very careful when putting it back in? If everything is considered good does it even matter when the gun is (flagging) pointed at yourself in that holster?
@CarryTrainer23 күн бұрын
@froglord1559 to the best of my knowledge there is nothing man-made that is 100% fail proof. Hence the layers of protection. There are some striker fired handguns for example that when cocked are the strikers are storing all the energy needed to fire, the trigger only releases the energy Whereas some others such as Glock are only partially cocked and the trigger press pulls the striker back farther. The Kahr pistol is an example of a Double action. Their website has a cool video of how it works.
@francostacy767522 күн бұрын

Femoral artery is more the concern then your junk. IMHO, either position is acceptable, good habits and training is your friend. Body shape, physical limitations, type and size of weapon all help determine the optimal carry position for each individual. Practice and be safety minded. Aka common sense.

@RodCornholio24 күн бұрын
Think about the rules of firearms safety. Now you need to think about that particular rule about pointing the gun in a safe direction. You be the judge. If you have the body type, technique, holster, pistol, etc. where the gun is NOT pointed in an unsafe direction (e.g. a body part for those who value it), then good for you. To be clear, I am not referring to where the gun is pointed when your hand is not touching it i.e. IN the holster.

I used to think that way. I was strongly against appendix carry until I realized that people have been carrying that way since the early 1700's. I don't carry appendix because of practicality, not because it's unsafe. I carry heavy things like concrete blocks and wood next to my body a lot, I also am always leaning against tractors or trailers a lot, so carrying appendix doesn't work.

The trigger safety is to stop the tigger from pulling on its own if it’s dropped. A Glock has two other internal safeties intended for the same purpose. A thumb safety is just an extra one to protect against unintentional user trigger pulls
