Really superb! I'm transitioning to as much vegan as possible for a number of reasons. I'm not a zealot about it but I find it's not a sacrifice for me at all. I love veggies and legumes and I'm a good cook. So... feeling good, saving money, being humane and pampering my tummy. Sounds good to me! I have to say, your cooking was a major inspiration toward this direction! Thanks so much for being you. ❤

I have made a version this dish for YEARS! I use walnuts, Golden raisins, and a yellow onion. And a poached egg on top. I never knew of its Catalonian origins. Muchas gracias, Alberto!

My grandparents were from Barcelona. I used to get this as a child but they added some Morcilla (a type of blood puding sausage) & Spanish Chorizo, not being vegans. It was out of this world. They used to tell me this dish was good enough to bring people back from the dead. Thank you for sharing.

My grandmother added raisins in her pasteles (a Puerto Rican dish usually served around Christmas). It’s interesting to see you using raisins in this dish and others. This stew looks amazing and I can’t wait to try it. Thank you for sharing this recipe.

I bought a mortar and pestle due to this channel. Of course it was a Michael Graves designed one, so that I can remain post modern. I need to look up on how to blanch almonds. TY again. This channel is keeping my food costs down.

I couldn't wait to try this, even though I had to use frozen spinach, and didn't have saffron or raisins. I substituted chopped dates for the raisins, and the dish came out great! Thank you for this delicious recipe. Also, this was my first time grating a tomato to make sauce. I'll be using that method more.

First of your recipes we have tried!! I actually am no fan of chickpeas AT ALL but the addition of raisins and almonds meant I hardly noticed them!! That is a great recipe for chickpeas therefore. By the way we used kale instead of spinach because it was in the garden and it worked fine. Also served it over rice which I do think detracted a bit so next time, will eat with bread as you suggested! Love this channel! Looking forward to 'digging in'. ¡España!

Pa amb tomaquet in catalán...hehe ,bread with tomato,yes this anchovies or the anchovies from La Escala in Girona are excellent,but must be with the correct bread,the correct tomato,the correct salt and the correct oil and the correct quantity of this ingredients.

I love your simple but really delicous recipies. The ones I tried where all super yummie, easy and what I find really good not very expensive. With exploding prices for food it's a relief to find recipies that aren't using mostly nowerdays expensive stuff but are still good for you. Thanks :o)

Oh my, oh my just finished making this dish and it is AMAZING! You never disappoint. I am going to make your flat bread to go with. Did not have any saffron so subbed in 1/4 tsp turmeric and 1/2 tsp of paprika. Blessings and happy food dance!

Here in Catalonia we use in many plates the raisins for example in( Espinacs amb panses i pinyons) spinach with raisins and ...pinyons (the fruit of the pine tree)my english is not good sorry.

My mother used to make this dish frequently but she never added raisins. I guess hers was the southern Spain version. Love me some garbanzos! 😊❤

Great recipe! If you don’t mind me saying, the recipe in Catalonia has pine nuts and not almonds but I’m sure it’s just as good with almonds.

I am still going to make it soon. I was a bit shocked at how many calories it is. It says one serving for 600 calories. It looks to be about 1 1/2 cups of the dish.

Looks good but I would like to know if you absolutely had to add a protein, do you have any suggestions that would pair well with it? Sausage? Fish? Not adverse to sticking to the original, but just want the option.

@I'm the dude, dude--The almonds contribute not only protein, but add a nice crunch element, so pepita seeds would work, or maybe sunflower seeds.
