Who is Dr. Ergin? Dr. Ahmet Ergin is an endocrinologist with a particular interest and passion for diabetes care. Dr. Ergin earned his medical degree with honors at Marmara University School of Medicine in Istanbul, Turkey. Then, he completed his internal medicine residency and endocrinology fellowship at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. He is a board-certified physician in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism. He is also a certified diabetes education specialist.

If I had the intestinal fortitude to take a cold shower, I wouldn’t have eaten my way into type II diabetes!

Washing face, arms, feet with cold water is not that hard, but really refreshing and gives energy.

After taking my shower I open the cold water gradually, after you do it a few times your body get used to it. Regarding the mulberries, I have a tree in my backyard and it’s delicious, the other thing people should know is you can make mulberry tea using the leaves, I collect the leaves and let them dry and use them all the time, also tea from fig leaves are good for diabetes.

For anyone not familiar with Wim Hof, the Ice Man, look up his discussion. Quite a fellow. Research Kneipp therapy. They use this treatment in Germany in cancer clinics to stimulate the immune system.

Can do it in summer, outside with garden hose when sweaty. Indoors in winter, i compromise- hot shower, followed by splashes of cold water on face. I plant mulberry trees for wildlife & people. And i pray for Putin's defeat.

I've got 4 cardiac stents. I'm afraid this cold shower routine might be a tad dangerous for those w/cardiac issues. Thoughts, Dr. E?

Merhaba doktor bey, 31 Aralık 2022'den beri sabahları soğuk duş alıyorum(Tahminen 5-10 derece arası sıcaklıktaki suyla). Şimdilik en belirgin fark saçlarım yağlanmıyor. Özellikle metabolizmamı hızlandıracağı ve bağışıklık sistemimi güçlendireceği düşüncesiyle başladım, halen sert kış şartlarında olmamıza rağmen devam ediyorum. Umarım işe yarar. Teşekkürler.

How cold the water is? With ice or simply tap water coming from the shower?

The tap water should be enough. Unless you live in a house where the water is always tepid (for example because it's very close to the heating system) that should be cold enough for health benefits. Right now my tap water is around 14°C and that's pretty refreshing right now in winter, especially when I have to wake up at 4am ;)
