We are baaaack with another ep of DC! Today we chat about levels and how to deal with the tough stuff that comes along with it all. Remember that numbers are just numbers and what matters most is YOU. Hope this sheds some light on a stressful part of dance and inspires a shift in attitude.

Heyy Auti, you're so right! I have auditioned for the selection team B at my danceschool but I didn't made it... First I was thinking of what I could have done better but I knew while I was auditioning that I wouldn't make it because I saw that the others were much better and I couldn't control my nerves... my teacher has told me what I can improve and what would be best for me.. so she said that I could join selection team C which is lower than B but it really helped me with my technique and I love my team! (they are all younger than I am but I don't care) I love the teacher and I'm so thankful for everything that happened! The level doesn't matter, it's about the improvement but the levels can work as a goal that you can get after hard work and dedication!💕💕

So great I have a little frustrated, for the place I have in the play in one of the studios, where I dance but, I can shine although, I don't have a principal role and you help me to understood that, and you describe the situation in the clases in the other studio, I have prometed to higher level of the studio but I still take the basic classes, because, theses classes help me a lot, and are not so much demanding, equally the basic class are much fun, and give me a oportunity to pullish my fauls, and improve my strengths

Quick story. So, I started ballet @ age 3 and around 9 to 11 I made it all the way to the level below toe shows. I loved my teacher w/ all my heart but we all knew, including me, being ultra tiny I would have a hard time doing only ballet full time. So my mom switched me to a different studio to get more unique choreography. When I disliked it, and went back to my teacher who I loved. She was worried that I lost some foundation and wanted to put me back 2 levels. I freaked and did not let her finish and took up drill team later. I regret that move. And as an adult, I see clearly what she was trying to tell me. She remembered me, loved me, and felt I was a good dancer. The level was for my improvement and meant nothing more than that.

Competition is not good. I was in beginning class for 10 years...same lesson...no new things to try and was not allowed to advance..made me sad. Just make classes interesting so they don't feel the same each year for people. God bless!

We don’t have levels in Scotland we have grades which is round the same for different types of dance and you take an exam to move up but if they think you might fail your exam they still let you move up unless you are really behind

Great video, I've been thinking about start ballet at home since there's no studio near my house and I don't have money but I don't know where to start. Should I focus first on the strength and flexibility or in the technique? Or should I put them together? I'm just so lost and unmotivated. Wish there was a list of things made by someone who understand the topic for me to learn instead of me just guessing what I should do 🙁

To Evini Lima:💕 Evini Lima hey!! I think that’s a great idea! Learning at home can definitely help you and remember to improve on your flexibility first before you start ballet exercises. I’m a ballerina my self for and I’ve been dancing for 10 years. All you need is practice and motivation to dance well! Here’s a list to help you: - Flexibility exercises: Stretching legs including butterfly pose, working on splits, stretching arms. And always remember to point your feet! - Endurance exercises: Sit ups, planks, jumping jacks, pushups. - Barre Exercises (ballet): These videos can help: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f6qTqoqJa8mooLM kzbin.info/www/bejne/l2mqdaOwj8h2b7s

The question is: " how long can you bear being in the same level, sometimes ?" ... Is this really Normal when it takes too much time... ? I think that the level of the teacher is also something real, 😏👊🏻

I know someone who wanted to be on the East coast for college, but I think it destroyed her and lowered her. She was awesome and now just average. She could have been the star in her local college and thrived instead of be lowered to their level by others who maybe jealous.
