Actually going of a study following natural bodybuilders I'm using 70kcal deficit per kg of fat right now. If you have a bit higher bodyfatpercentage like 20% and you're 80kg, you can do a deficit of 800-1000kcal without loosing muscle mass. Im using this method right now to loose more quickly. 250 kcal deficit is good if you're already pretty lean. If you have a bit of fat don't be scared to be a bit more aggressive.

New to all this. Are you talking about daily? Mine works out to around 750 calories based on your formula. I could do 750 cals deficit in a day? I’m doing 200 now and that’s hard lol

@@jaseperi Yes per day. Its pretty aggressive but it works. 200 is my goto aswell, its easier to do in daily life you dont feel like you have to be hungry and it's just convenient and you dont have to think about it too much. If you wanna do 750 I'd suggest trying something like intermittend fastening it really helps manage your hunger levels. I used to do 16/8 intermittend fastening and I wasnt feeling hungry while in a larger deficit. Keep into consideration if you wanna do this, as you loose fat so aggressively your bodyfatpercentage will drop and so your max deficit aswell so dont keep the 750 per day till your endgoal and gradually lower it.

Great advice. One thing I'd add (sadly applies to a huge amount of people) is that if youre obese then that makes it easier and more sustainable to go more than a 500 calorie deficit. 1000 or 1500 calorie deficit will double or triple your weight loss rate, then as you get to overweight and normal ranges you can do just 500 calories.

As someone struggling back and forth with being overweight, and the mental disposition it implies, i'd like to share that some foods can work as "more is less" for calories. We need to eat less calories, and by extension, less food. But this causes those of us with a more emotional clinging to food to shirk from this and feel restricted. Eventually falling off our nutrition goals. But work on developing a taste for healthy whole foods, and make it a point to eat *more*. Because they will fill you up with less calories overall. Whether they're vegetables, complex carbs like sweet potatoes or fiberous fruit, and especially good protein (lean meat, eggs). Just a thought.

I am currently in a very strict calorie deficit, which I know isn’t something I wanna do in the long term. I just gained a shit ton of weight and I really want to get rid of it for the summer. I’m not sure if it’s a healthy mindset, but I also make sure to make nice food and sometimes just enjoy myself (cheat day) I’ve been doing it for 11 days and lost about 3-4 kg (1600 kcal a day)

One tip that I don't hear that often is, don't weigh yourself too often. Once a week, at the same time of day is your best bet. Your bodyweight fluctuates A LOT throughout the day. Upwards of ~2 kg or ~5 lbs, so don't weigh yourself in the morning and then in the evening and then get frustrated that you're not losing weight. If you're doing it right, after initial water weight drops off, you're only going to be losing .5 - 1 kg or 1 - 3 lbs per week. Your body weight fluctuates more than that on any given day. Give it time, and be patient.
