Cause think about it, Hoffman has no real reason to target these people other than John having planned ahead because hes the one that had the vendetta against the insurance company in this case. So yeah, John did have 6 people die without having a real chance at choosing themselves.

@@liacedeno4382 After watching Saw X. there's a part of me who theorizes that John would let his emotions get the better than him when it comes to this. I won't spoil it, but there is a scene near the end where Kramer did briefly let his emotions get to him. It makes me think the traps(in at least Saw 6) were more murder-y than normal because his own morals went out the window by his anger over the healthcare insurance system. This is completely me reading into my own fan theory retcon, but I feel like it works. It also more humanizes the weird serial killer who think putting people in death traps was a good idea of rehabilitation.

Personally, I don’t think Josh’s actor was overacting. I honestly thought that whole sequence was kind of heartbreaking. The fact that he _knows_ that there’s no hope and that he’s definitely going to die. I don’t know, man… maybe it’s just me.

IMO, although it's effective and one of the better performances in this series, I find it to be overacting because it's too controlled. You HAVE to be able to let go of your ego for a convincing performance and while there was plenty of emotion and control in his voice and demeanor, it just feels like acting. It's tough to explain but it just feels too calculated. Great for a stage performance, but for a film it takes me out of it.

Jigsaw knew. What he taught was that he could predict how someone could react. He had to have known he'd have that kid kill someone in front of his own mother and the victim's sister. That kid is going to juvie. He had the option to let him live, and the sister witnessed her brother's death. There was NO WAY he was walking away from that. It wasn't a trap where he had to kill him to save himself or his mom. He just straight up murdered him in front of a witness. That kid's life is ruined.

Honestly, that "Look at me!! When you're killing me, you look at me!" is both my favorite line and my favorite line delivery in the series. It's so full of that "I know I'm about to die" vindictive spirit and, at least for me, both believable and compelling. This movie doesn't really deserve the hate it got, the traps are pretty cool, nothing went wrong with them, I do agree that the whole Hoffman directly killing people seems more like a slasher thing which was disappointing to most saw fans, but the scene of the FBI agents trying to find Hoffman voices on the tape though, suspenseful as fuck, I loved it

This comment is 2 years late, but I just can't resist saying how much I absolutely love Josh's death scene. Every time I watch the part where he goes "Look at me! When you're killing me, look at me.", I have to just stop and appreciate how good the delivery is. The palpable fury in his voice and face, the growly tone it gets near the end. If I could attach gifs/images to comments I would add in the chef's kiss meme or that "when the sun hits that ridge just right" meme right here. It's one of those moments that make me go "man, this guy should have an Oscar just for this one line alone".

Ryan d’Costa a little late, but the way I see it is that the shark people, the ones in the carousel, killed so many people with their loopholes that he thought it was fit that more people die? Idk still kinda weird that he would do that but ya know 🧩.James also mentions how they only let 1/3rd of their applications get the healthcare. So only 1/3rd of them survive if that helps.

Wasn't his game. Think about if he had died at any point during the course of the movie prior to the acid trap. There wouldn't have ever been a series of people dying (except, well, maybe the smoker) on account of him never having entered the room(s) to begin the game(s). We never see/saw the explosive cuffs go off so he was driven by instinct to see his family (see: sister) which in turn caused a LOT of people to die. Which was ultimately the point of "his" game. By deciding who lives/dies as an insurance adjuster, he had to decide who lived and died in the respective games when it was entirely possible that if he just sat the fuck still and didn't involve himself... None of them would have died. Including him. We'll never know for a fact, but I think this movie was more akin to Saw IV in that if he just let go and did nothing a lot of pain and suffering could have been avoided.

Umbrella was pretty much destroyed shortly after, but things only got worse as more and more increasingly worse biological weapons and monsters kept being created and let loose. I really love the scene where Hoffman gets revealed to be working with jigsaw. You can really feel the tension in the scene so well when the recording is getting played over and over again, and then when you hear his voice clearly for a second before he just goes beserk and kills everyone is so awesome. I also think that the way he tries to clean it up afterwards is so funny. Like yeah, I'll just use the same method that didn't work beforehand in concealing my identity that will now completely connect me to these murders. And then he just lights it all on fire anyways lol.
