So let's say I don't have a medical reason that I "must" consume meat - I'm just a normal human that could survive just fine with no animal products and maybe some supplements. Could I become a vegan and continue to eat meat just for fun? Or... would I have to change my diet? When I hear this, what I hear is similar to what I hear when Christians tell me, "Christianity is not a religion... it's a lifestyle." It's like, yeah, but it IS a religion, though. I'm perfectly happy to also call it a lifestyle, but it IS a religion, too. similarly, I'm perfectly happy to call veganism an ethical stance - seems legitimate to call it that - but it is absolutely a diet, too. lol. ..unless you're willing to allow me to join the ranks without changing my diet, of course.

Nobody thinks, as far as I know, that what Tacitus says about Christians was an interpolation, and there's nothing particularly problematic about it- he was writing around 100 CE, when Pliny the Younger also wrote about the Christians of his time. The issue is with Josephus, who not only is claimed to have said that Jesus was the Messiah, but whose statement to this effect only appears as a quote in Christian authors in the fourth century with Eusebius.

Mike if you look at Luke the contradiction and timeline is a bit more clear. In Mark, Mary doesn’t tell anyone until after Jesus appeared to her while in Luke she tells them before Jesus appeared. Also worth noting Mark 16:9-20 were not in the original manuscripts. Keep up the good work.

Just logically speaking if you think about the timeline of Matthew and really any of the gospels, chapter 16 would just seem incorrect given how many chapters are in each of these gospels and the content of the gospels. Then Jesus told Mary to go and tell others of his coming. Two different timelines.

⁠@@mikebrigandi_ First, i call bullshit. You need to consume more flora to sustain your life per pound, especially if you live an active life, than meat. A pound of meat can hold someone for a good week. A pound of vegetation wont hold you over more than 48hrs before your body starts consuming itself. Second, what are you going to do with all the animals being freed? A sanctuary wont be able to sustain them, even if you introduce predators. You still will need to farm crops and provide water for them. Lastly, all products that are made from animals would be turned into vegan products, which would create vastly more demand for farmed flora, which in turn would destroy more environments for the fauna. Also all the water you would need for the billions of acres you would need of farmed flora. The reason and logic alone destroys your notion that everyone going vegan would mean less consumption of water and flora. Its clearly more.
