DECEIVED When Buying The Triumph Trident 660!

Tired of lugging behind me on my V-Strom 1000, my wife decided to take her license and buy her own motorcycle!
After looking around for 3 months, her heart was sold on the Triumph Trident 660, due to its low weight, nimbleness and all the heritage behind the brand.
However, her buying experience was all but perfect!
After being told the price on one day, going back to buy the bike, only two days later, cost her an extra 250 euros and Triumph was unavailable to make any kind of compromise to keep us happy!
Please let us know what you think, of the way triumph handled this situation.

I think 'deceived' is a bit strong. All things go up sometimes, and just unlucky it happened between your visits. You can't blame Triumph, really the dealer should have been aware of a price increase coming and warned you. Then you could have paid a deposit to hold the price.

Yeah.... it just came with no warning two days after when we went home to choose the extras. I was just very pissed off i wasn't warned... It's all behind me now though 😁 Hopefully, this vid will be a warning to others to get a deposit down and ensure the price 👍

I got a price match from a discounted bike. Your dealer could have offered a discount on the accs or offered free fitting to lessen the extra price

Ordered my trident in late June 2022 for 8750 Euros (price in Greece), 200 above "standard price" because the machines that would become available by July would be only of the colors that cost 200 more, otherwise I would have to wait until September for the bike to arrive, so I went with the gray/red combination. In late July, they told me the bike would not arrive until early August, then by mid-August they told me it would arrive end of August; then early September (that's the time I would have to wait for the original, cheaper color that I liked even more) they tell me there's a price increase of 300 Euros. At least, they did agree to install a free alarm system for me (that costs 200 Euros), and the bike eventually did arrive by the second week of September! I'm still breaking it in, and overall I'm very happy with the bike so far. It was indeed very good move from them to offer themselves to counter-balance the price increase by the free alarm installation, and I did appreciate it a lot.

Nearly all bikes went $250 at the same time World Wide but since you went in 2 days earlier & were configuring the bike & had basically said you'd buy it the dealer should of given a $250 discount on Quick shifter which you have to get.

One thing that has not changed since the 1980’s is that Dealers remain Stealers. I got charged $380 document fee on my T660 and I was pissed. My wife was actually the calm one about it. I paid retail and all those transaction and transport fees. I loaded my bike up with ACC and I mean loaded it up. Ordered in Feb and picked up in April of last year. I paid cash for it. Dealer is one hour away so when the temp sensor went out I called them. No trailer to come get my bike. I called Triumph Roadside Ass. No help there, “you are too far from the dealer”. Had to rent a trailer and the dealer did not reimburse me. This has been my ownership experience so far with Triumph. The next closest dealer is 2.5 hours away. I am most likely selling the T660 this Summer and buying a new Honda CBR650R. Two Honda dealers within 20 minutes of my home.

I paid mine base price in Belgium 8395€ with extras 9230,45€. Discount was 385,52€ on the extras. That 9230 includes 350€ for the change of ride height. The tracker I got for 50% discount placed. I don't now what you paid in Portugal, I don't think there is a lot of difference. The Trident is cheaper in Germany, around 650€. In Holland it's 9.195€ base price that's 800€ more. In France it's 50€ cheaper. So between Germany and Holland that makes 1450€, which is a lot more.

Here’s the thing. Motorcyle sales have boosted more than ever before because of the pandemic. There’s a surge in people getting motorcycle licenses and bikes are selling out fast. In Australia I’ve experience the Viennese customer treatment, meaning the worse. Sales are so good that they don’t need basic human respect to sell you the bike. However they live looked after me for the extras for the bike or riding gear. Thought we had it bad here, sorry to hear about your experience. For me the whole experience is important and I’d be loyal to boost a business who treats people well even if it’s a little bit more pricy than the competition. Since my purchase I’ve had a good experience and on that basis I’ve recommended Triumph to others. Also consider that sales people talk the talk and don’t necessarily tell you the truth in order to save their own humility. Therefore perhaps try another dealer. My trident has been amazing after 3000kms in. Have the BT module, shift assist, USB charger and fly screen. All worth it.

I think you should change your video title after I heard what you said about the whole story. TBH after I became a Trident 660 owner myself, then I started to seach all kinds of information about this bike ,this pricing changing(rising) thing I heard it long time ago(just dont know the exact date when it is gonna happen), basically it is like previous sold bikes are with PRE-SELL PRICE(we all know PRE-SELL price is lower than future normal price), and in future when mass selling period came, the price is gonna change( higher for sure); Actually Triumph is not "deceiving" anyone on this typical traditional sales model, but I can feel your anger , which is Triumph did not "inform"or " anounce" their detailed price changing plan to public or at least should be on their official website, so that new buyer will acknowledge this as a fact and based on that they can rethink if they gonna buy it still or not. And why I say you should change your title ? cuz it is still your wife's own decision to accept the price changes and still bought it, not DECEIVED by anyone to finish the purchasing .

Damn. Your’re Getting tore up in the comments. Here’s the deal, I agree with you I bought the trident and it’s my last Triumph. It’s how Triumph handles situations that’s the problem. If they explained the “why”in a rational way it would be different but they tend to immediately get defensive and make shit up as they go. If the cost went up 250 I’d expect a clear, concise, honest answer as to why and then I’d want to know why they’re unable to make it right by offering other concessions. If the answer passes the sniff test I’m probably ok with it. If they can’t clearly explain why, or if that explanation isn’t reasonable to me, im pissed and will do everything within my power to make sure they regret it. @@John_Neves Unfortunately I think it just comes down to bad timing. I don't know about where you live, but here in the States there is very very little inventory of bikes, and prices for both used and new bikes are high. They were probably just taking advantage of the supply vs. demand situation going on. They knew they can get more for the bike, and were willing to let you walk away because they know someone else would come in and buy it at the price they were asking. True. Unfortunately no deposit was made. But the dealer gave us a price, told us to go home and configure the extras, and after going back two days later, with the print of the promissed price, we where told the price had gone up 250 euros Given the circumstance i just think the dealer should have made some kind of commitment at least on the extras to dissipate the extra 250. That's what i would have done, hence the feeling of deception from the triumph dealer. It was not cool.
