This was a pretty pivotal show in the band's history--Hysteria had sold well at that point, but not well enough to make back the costs of recording the album. "Pour Some Sugar On Me" came out later in the spring, using footage from this concert in the video, and album sales went utterly ballistic. You couldn't turn on a Top 40 station all summer and not hear at least one, if not two, Def Leppard songs every hour. Such great childhood memories from that year.

Steve Clark had that "it" factor. That unteachable method of playing and writing riffs. His partnership with Phil Collen was absolutely perfect for the band and they made each other better. Steve could play something really cool and Phil could then expand on that and but the finishing touches on it to make the perfect song. The guitars in "Gods of War" are a great example of that collaboration. It's too bad that Steve could not get clean like Phil did back then.

Craig that's because he suffered from more then addiction. Have you ever noticed that some of the best artist's usually suffer from some kinda mental disorder and its usually depression and to keep others from noticing that's where the drugs come into play leading to addiction and trying to quit a drug addiction is a fight itself but can be done with a strong frame of mind and positive attitude but ya throw depression in on it and its dam near impossible. Steve was a beautiful man with a beautiful soul and im honored that I got to see them both through his music. He plays for the almighty now and suffers no more. R.I.P. Steve. ✌ 😇

Too Late For Love and Hysteria had some of the best guitar riffs in the '80's Steve Clark was an underrated guitarist in his time, just one man's opinion, him and Phil were among the best teams in history!!!

Amazing! Awesome performance all around. Damn these guys can sing their ass off! While Phil is good with his speed solos. Steve has the heart and good feel with his riffs and licks. That’s God given. The band was never the same after they lost him.

I saw DL on this tour back in ‘88 or ‘89. Queensryche opened for them to promote their Livecrime album. I was a QR fan too. They played to a disinterested audience. When Geoff Tate screamed, “Does anyone here believe in love?” the thousands of DL fan tween girls screamed. Then Tate said, “We’ll, I don’t,” and they kicked in to I don’t believe in love! I thought there was no way DL could follow that. But DL was awesome!!

No way I would want to follow QR back then Goeff Tate was untouchable on vocals.

Just on the principle of sheer guts and determination, makes Rick Allen the best drummer in the world. No one else but him could have pulled it off. He has my undying respect.
