How to RWD swap an STI

In this episode of Dirtcheapdaily, Matt wants to take his STI to a drift event!
Matt had a manual transmission from a WRX that had a blown center differential so he decided to weld the center diff and swap the 5 speed into his STI in order to drift it!
By cutting the section of the center diff off, you can convert your 5MT to RWD without having to remove the from drive shafts.

What was the reason for switching to the 5spd? I have an 06 STI trans I'm going to use, what is the best method for converting it to rwd?

Matt didn’t want to weld the center diff of his 6speed because it’s worth so much. He had this 5mt with a cooked center diff so we decided to just swap the 5 speed in. If you’re planning on keeping it RWD, it’s best to weld the 6speed center diff

@@ermasan6480 maybe a little more than stock. That comment is 4 years old as well. I've since been running an 06 5 speed for well over 3 years of drifting with 0 issues.
