While we are all aware of the benefits of regular exercise on our body and mind, there seems to be a gap in understanding that not all exercise is right for everyone. If you are battling with stress and anxiety, HIIT or any high intensity training can often make things worse. When you push yourself and your heart rate to your max effort your body releases cortisol, aka stress hormones, leaving you in fight or flight syndrome. Which is totally fine for someone with well functioning nervous system, but for an individual with dysregulated nervous system, it’ll only amplify the problem. I believe in gentle consistency and staying kind to your body and mind. Every since I’ve adopted my workouts to suit my individual needs rather than following the trends I’ve seen much better results. Remember you don’t have to ‘kill yourself’ 7 days a week with high intensity training to see results. Adopt the training to work for you, even if it means taking a 20 minute walk daily. ❤

I would definitely agree! Thank you Olivia for keeping yourself up-to-date and helping us greatly in the process. As I'm getting older those killer HIIT workouts have had no benefit to me at all, only causing stress and weight gain. I realise now that low impact resistance workouts and strength workouts like yours are the best way to go. Love this workout and appreciate all you do! 👍🏾👌🏾

Very low impact. Heart rate stayed between 115-120 for me, so my watch clocked it as "weight-control" which is a step below "aerobic." It's a good starter exercise, good for people with high-stress, or as a warm-up for high-impact after, (I have PCOS but am at the point in my fitness where I prefer anaerobic exercises). If anyone reading this has PCOS, I highly recommend getting a tight sleep schedule. It'll really help with cortisol as well. My weight melted off after I started sleeping before 11:30pm for about 8 hours.

I realized when in junior high I weight around 80kg and succeeded to lose weight during my time in high school around 60kg. But recently I'm turning 29 and losing weight is a hard work, back then I just need to reduce some amount of food in take and do some skipping, but now even regularly doing squat, push up, plank, jumping didn't make much progress. Some reels come up about cortisol in my Insta so I start look for it, and change into mild 30 minutes cardio, and didn't push myself so much, I start to eat less and feel refreshing. Even though losing weight will be a long journey, but slowly but not stressing is my way to go, I can't with to much pressure recently due to some depression and traumatic event while I'm 26, I become someone different and some part of me is awaken that as long as I keep track on calories and doing exersice I can still live healthy. Couldn't keep up with the skinny trend but try to be healthy

Wow. Glad I found you, this one kept me steady moving. I only did 16 mins this first time around, as I was only seeking a short workout today. Will definitely revisit for the full workout! Currently (June 2024) I walk 45 mins, 5 days a wk but needed a change of pace and at least a 15 min workout based around cortisol level workouts, so felt this was perfect once I saw it was the pace I was hoping for. Great vid!

I suffer from anxiety, so I wonder is it good for me to do any HIIT at all? Or to try to mix trainings like this one with low impact HIIT? Thank you for everything you do for us on this channell ❤
@oliviafitlawson11 ай бұрын
We are all different and I can’t really speak for every individual. HIIT training has many benefits but there are plenty of alternatives out there. The dips and highs in HR during HIIT training is what drives cortisol levels up. I would suggest sticking to a workout that will keep your hr relatively steady throughout. Hope this helps 🤗xx

I like the video, but would you consider doing shorter ones? Everybody has 35 4045 minutes or an hour to do the exercise. When you can’t finish the whole video sometimes it plays a mind game with you like oh I feel like I’m a failure cause I couldn’t finish this when it’s really a time factor.I could always stop the video after 15 minutes but in fact, that’s the same thing like I can’t finish it. 15 minute ones would be awesome. That being said, I appreciate all the hard work you do to put these out for us and the time that it takes you to do them as well. Thank you.

Hi, I have been working out for abs and still did not see any progress for months (not the abs forming, but my tummy getting smaller). It was still the same size, I felt like it was getting bigger and bigger :( So maybe cortisol levels were my problem because I had a high-intensity abs workout. Do you take any supplements for lowering cortisol? Pls let me know, it will be really helpful. Thank you ♥️
