For pets, I absolutely agree with that sentiment. When I needed a pup to train to be my service dog, there was far too many unknown variables that come with a rescue. I did look at our local rescues, but i just couldn't find the right dog. Not to mention the competition for rescues here is unreal. So yeah, i bought my pup, because I needed a certain type of dog.

I just can never understand why people buy dogs when there are so many good ones trapped in a cage. Even purebred dogs. If you’re stuck on a breed that you want, call around a different shelters. I guarantee they exist somewhere and you can get them.
