My healthy tip is oat bran to make porridge first thing in the day. Instead of porridge oats which are rougher and tough on the system, and I use a mix of water and lactose free milk around 3 parts liquid to one part oat bran.. Bananas and nuts or berries and a touch of honey on top can be great. I also batch hard boil eggs and they keep for a few days, I have one with my coffee later in the morning. The muffins are super for a touch of carbs.

Dominique if you love bread... I make my own (white) bread with Quinoa and King Arthur unbleached flour once a week. It is very high protein I make very small loaves, 4 of them about the size of a submarine sandwich bun so I can freeze them to use throughout the week. It is a very dense moist bread. Two small slices for a mini sandwich or toasted with a thin layer of almond butter is amazing. I like to have my 2 slices for breakfast with a small dish of fresh fruit (preferably tropical i.e. pineapple kiwi papaya etc). This bread keeps you feeling full; but absolutely not bloated. I believe an added bonus is: I suffer from lymph-edema. I don't know why but when I stopped buying bread and started making my own bread the lymph-edema seemed to improve slowly. I love this bread and the small loaves is a great way to control my bread intake. Each loaf will last me 2-3 days (approx 8 slices). Nutritional value for each loaf (not slice... ONE OF THE FOUR) nutritional value approximately: 479.8 Cals * 2.9g Total Fat * 0.0mg Cholestrol * Sodium 585.6mg * Total Carbs 98.7 g * Dietary Fiber 6.3 g * PROTEIN 15.3. I increase the protein by adding a bit more Quinoa and more water. There is no oil, butter or fat added in the process. Thank you for sharing your healthy eating habits I would love to see more!

High protein, low carb diet, yes... Healthy? Maybe? Fruit is very high in nutrients and antioxidants that are greatly missing most diets for fear of too much sugar. Keep in mind that your body converts all carbs to "sugar" since our body uses glucose for energy (not protein). Your body will also convert protein if need be. The brain runs on glucose and if it doesn't get it the body will make it. It is the processed carbs we need to stay away from, but eat in abundance fresh ,whole, organic fruits and vegetables (and yes, they are simple carbs). And don't forget to add some (very healthy) raw nuts and seeds to your diet. They are great for cardiovascular health, and a good source of healthy fats and amino acids! If eating animal protein, it is always best to keep them lean, clean, and organic.
@dominiquesachsetv9 жыл бұрын
Barbara Holdeman I agree with everything you suggest! I do eat fruit, but mostly berries, and loads of organic veggies.. Nuts are my go-to snack, so it seems, you and I are in agreement :)

Unless you are already insulin resistant. Then you need to add intermittent fasting to lower the insulin response. Then fruit in small amounts can be your friend again.

Thanks.

I'm still loving your videos. It is so nice to see you a real person rather than just someone on tv. I have a question in regard to your no dairy philosophy. Don't we as women need some dairy for the calcium? All of the commercials we hear about how great yogurt is for us. I'm open to your suggestions, insight. Thx!
@dominiquesachsetv10 жыл бұрын
Gaynell Simpson I find all the foods that are touted as good for us because of calcium tend to have higher sugar contents, and excessive dairy converts to sugar in the body. We forget that green, leafy veggies give us calcium as well. I eat a ton of veggies, so I don't worry about the calcium too much. I also take a supplement :)

When you are referring to "carbs"- you are meaning starchy carbs. Anything other than protein is a carb- fruits and veggies are carbs. Yes- whole grain carbs digest slower allowing the blood sugar to rise slowly, in a healthy way. Where, white white refined starches digest quickly spiking blood sugar and the crashing. When we use the word "carb" inappropriately- we can make it seem evil. Carbs are essential for health.

Hi Dominique. Thanks for lots of good info. Just like to know how often you'd get to cook for you and your family at home? You only mentioned pre-prepared foods to re-heat, which must contain preservatives and lots of salt for flavor - and also eating @ restaurants. Everyone should make time to cook REAL food, actually has more than nutritional benefits (freshness is just one...). If we focus more on healthy home cooking than on makeup & beauty, then we'll reap the benefits on the inside of our bodies...where it REALLY counts! Any chance of a healthy, home-cooked meal demo via YT video? Please.... Bless you for sharing your great tips...
