Fasting is changing my life. Fasting has even helped me move away from drinking alcohol. I've lost over 35 lbs since January 2nd. I've slowly stepped up to a regular daily 16/8 fast, and now I can easily do a 36-hour fast that I have done twice this year so far. My brain just works better. I am more productive. I look forward to getting up in the morning because my sleep is improving. My resting heart rate, BMI, visceral fat, and blood pressure are all headed down. My inflammation and the constant pain in my lower back and legs are gone. My sex life is back after over two years in the toilet. The power of fasting cannot be overstated.

In 14 months of Fasting I was able to go from Level-2 Obese to Normal Weight (BMI < 25). The last few pounds were the hardest, because they didn't want to go away. I was on a 18 hour fast followed by 6 hour window for 2 meals. I switched to OMAD (One meal a day) to lose the final few pounds. That worked very well. I still want to lose 1 more pound and then I'll switch back to a 18/6 ---> 20/4 pattern to maintain the weight. A year and a half ago I wouldn't have believed this was possible.

Hi Bob, was it hard to transition to the OMAD? I have been doing 16:8 since November and seeing good results but coming towards my goal and I'm slowing down.
@BobDiaz1234 жыл бұрын
Danielle I suggest you come at it through a series of steps. Go a week or two with 18/6., then go another week or two at 20/4. I find 20/4 challenging, so it's a mind game to bring yourself to follow through. After that pick a day and try OMAD. I find that from 11AM to 2PM it the toughest time, so this is when I exercise. In my case go for a multi-mile walk. That seems to take my mind off the hunger and during the walk, I don't feel hungry. I first tried OMAD as only two days of the week. It was about two months later that I decided to switch to OMAD every day. I'm now about one pound away from my target, so it's only one more week. It is a challenge, but you have to really set your mind to just push hard to do it. I hope this helps.

Diet soda contains artificial sweeteners that don't raise your blood sugar, but still trigger dopamine and hunger responses. That's a reason to not drink them. However, the bigger reason is they cause gastrointestinal issues. Sucralose and aspartame actually cause gut inflammation. They're very unhealthy. Things like stevia or erythritol are much better, but can still cause some issues. I'd only have zero-carb drinks once in a while, perhaps weekly or less.

After 24 years of diabetes my course changed totally in life ! If somebody would have told me this a long time ago things would have been different ! Now I'm doing intermittent fasting and also putting in 24vhour fast and just after a couple days my sugar went down from 9.7 to 6.9 mmol! I am delighted and I finally see the light in the tunnel ! I'm going to stick to this and also Lchf! Thank dr Fung , you explained it so good and as I already was doing intermittent fasting before it was so simple to continue after that I understood the real cause of my problem ! Hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah!❤❤❤❤

I just did a 7-day fast and lost 17 lbs. A couple of years ago I did another fast, it lasted only 3 days though, because the headaches and dizziness were too much to continue. I did not have that issue this time and I know it was because I took vitamins and minerals. I had biotin, cod liver oil, salt, and added fresh lemon juice to my water, that was all. I am going to do Keto OMAD for today and tomorrow then start another fast, I think I will do only 5 days this time. I have a Hydrogen Water Generator Bottle coming on Monday, I think that will help me out a lot on my upcoming fast.

I've just been told I have chronic pancreatitis. I'd always weighed 135 forever. A few months ago to now, I gained 12-13 pounds. Since my pancreas is barely working, I am monitoring my blood sugars. I am shocked at the effect on my bs. I made Broccoli Cauliflower salad with Swerve and turkey bacon. My BS increased by over 60. Must have been the swerve. My bs isn't high normally. Knowing higher sugar causes high insulin which tells my body to hold onto its weight, I stopped putting Stevia in my coffee. I'm eating between 1-8 each day with 15-16 hrs fast. What a body adjustment.

I find that planning a fast is the most successful way. I keep myself distracted and always keep sipping from the water bottle. Early nights are vital to avoid that wanting a snack late in the day. My record so far is 68 hours and I hope that at some point this year I'll do that one week fast - it'll be a life time achievement in my eyes. No carbs. Read labels. No fruit. No processed foods. Only fresh foods. You only have to loose 10% of weight to lower your insulin. And lower your HB A1c. Good luck. In my 20s I was on an unintentional OMAD diet due to my hectic work schedule - black tea sweetened with brown sugar in the morning and evening and a full large meal for lunch and no snacking in between (always on the phone, in a meeting or chasing a deadline). My weight stayed in the 140 - 160 range which was slim for me. Once I started to eat 3 meals a day along with family commitments and work stress the weight piled on, I developed PCOS then Graves and now Hashimoto's (thyroiditis) disease and have been see-sawing weight-wise ever since. Read Dr Fung's book, Obesity Code, made sense but I made the mistake of trying to fit my lifestyle into a fasting regime and failed miserably. Then 2 weekends ago it occurred to me that my original diet was the key to maintaining a healthier weight and more energy so I've returned to that. Last week my challenge was pretty good ... no weight loss yet but improved focus and energy level.
