In my first reaction video I give a brief life update and react to "the most illegal dog breeds in the world". I always enjoy watching videos and hearing people talk about breeds in broad strokes. There's so much to learn about dogs and so much misinformation out there, which I hope I can help to correct. Please like and subscribe and comment with any videos or topics you'd like to see in the future! I LOVE reading your comments and I take your suggestions quite seriously. I want to help spread accurate information regarding veterinary medicine and animal science to as many people as I can. Thank you so much for your support!

I've been working in the Veterinary Medical field for 10 years and the only dog I've ever been bitten by was a shih tzu mix.. I was the very proud mom of a 200 pound Rottweiler who I had to put down because of cancer. I will always prefer big dogs over small dogs any day. I remember the first day I brought my Rottweiler into the clinic I was working at for vaccinations and I remember the Dr telling me how big of a mistake I made rescuing Jacob. It broke my heart. That was the moment I told him just watch me he was a certified canine good citizen and absolutely loved everyone and every animal. I worked very hard to raise him right.

I’ve been bit by more pits, but I statistically deal with more…90% of my clients. My worst case of aggression was a chihuahua that was an “ESA”.

I have 2 Great Pyrenees dogs. They’re huge, yet gentle. I love seeing your perspective on dog breeds. I think it’s all about how they’re trained and treated by their owners. Can’t wait to see the other half of the video.

UK vet student here, love the channel I have a big interest in neuro, to answer the little question you mentioned about dangerous breeds, in the UK all the dangerous breeds have to abide by those rules, not just pit bulls🙂

I know this video is over a year old, youtube is just now recommending these videos to me. I think we should really pay attention to the reason dogs were bred. If you have dogs bred intentionally to be guard dogs, stranger wary, protective and aggressive (in order to be protective) to strangers, etc-- they are going to have a tendency towards being aggressive towards strangers (it is exactly what they are bred for). Since the majority of the "mastiff-type" dogs were bred for these purposes-- well, you have to expect them to follow that standard. Temperament is heredity to some degree, environment can impact temperament some, but it is the two combined that will determine the overall behavior and if you are starting with a dog that has inherited a guarding, wary of stragners, aggressive to strangers temperament, you are going to have a hard time training that out of them (if you even ever can). So I think claiming every breed of dog is the same slate temperament-wise and it is just all up to how they are trained is a bit dishonest. Here is an excerpt from the AKC website talking about the Fila Brasilerio (I have met one, you don't want to meet one of these dogs, they are horrible), basically they are so aggressive (and their breed club desires that) that they can and likely never will be accepted as a breed by the AKC. "As with any paradigm shift, not everyone embraces AKC recognition. Many rare breeds have cultivated a low-key breed culture that revels in a “best-kept secret” sensibility; recognition invariably raises a breed’s public image and the level of competition, and brings a sometimes unwelcome influx of new owners and breeders. Because most rare breeds are overwhelmingly owner-handled, the impact of professional handlers-especially in terms of over-the-top grooming in coated breeds that require a natural or rustic presentation-are a frequently voiced concern. Some changes, however, are very much for the better. Because AKC judges do not tolerate poorly socialized, unstable, or aggressive dogs, recognition invariably results in improved temperaments across the board. Some naturally reticent breeds, such as the Azawakh, which was recognized in 2019, require judges to modify their exams to be less intrusive and more respectful of the breed’s disregard for strangers. Others, such as the Fila Brasileiro-a Bloodhound-evoking mastiff developed in 18th century Brazil for its fierce guard-dog temperament-are so incompatible with AKC sports and events that they will likely never seek, much less achieve, recognition." This comment needs to be higher up. I was a bit disappointed when Cellini didn't mention what you're saying in the video... Decades of breeding for a specific cause absolutely have an impact on temperament. Some of these dog breeds were bred for blood sports and dog fights, and as such of course they're gonna have a higher likelyhood of increased level of aggression when compared to, for example, retrievers. Not all of them are going to be that way, that goes without saying, but still.

I can understand when the owner trains them to fight or attack. But that's the owners fault.

Typically it is a specific domestic breed that is not permitted to be owned within a municipality. Most notorious breed to be ‘banned’ would be the pitbull /or American Bull Terrier.

I worked at a kennel (that was also a vet, groomer, and daycare so we got a LOT of dogs) and even the American Pit Bulls that were ex-fighting dogs were so sweet. They were by far some of our favorite clients because their owners knew how important it is to have a trained Pit. Where I live, if your pit bites someone it is more likely to be put down than a golden. I think the negative stigma forces pit owners to have more control/good training with their dogs. As someone with American Staffies that are mislabeled as Pitties, that is also a huge fear of mine. It's so sad that they are being banned in places ESPECIALLY since bully breeds as a whole, get mislabeled as Pits by people who clearly don't know what an American Pit is.

Of course, most of the ex-fighting dogs couldn't be in the daycare setting, but a lot were also rehabilitated so they could be with other dogs safely. I love dogs so much, but bully breeds have a special place in my heart ❤

The problem with these videos and lists is that a lot of the "bad" things they list can apply to many dogs of all sizes/breeds, and irresponsible owners of many breeds are the reasons a lot of breeds have bad reputations. Add to that stress, environment or outside triggers. The lists are entertaining sometimes but sad that so many people take them seriously.

The narrator was probably AI, and imagine, being as new as it is, being this accurate in the eyes of a human veterinarian, like how long before we have AI "robot" vets doing surgeries? ..with better outcomes and WAY less mistakes? how long would it take AI to scour and learn from the entire breadth of science and become a brain surgeon tomorrow?

It’s so sad that pit bulls are so stereotyped, I was a video of a pit bull owner in the UK and she was taken by police/animal control for barking (in her own backyard) I believe they were going to put her down but she was SUPER well trained and the owner claimed her but now she is forced to wear a mussel. The owner now wears shirts to raise awareness of the unjustified laws around pit bulls in the UK and the pit bull wears clothes that say things like “friendly, okay to pet” but it’s just so sad if my dog Riley (see in profile pic) was treated like this he would be so sad he LOVE people and attention.

In the UK the only thing that is mandatory for 'normal' dogs is being microchipped. I have a Jack Russell, and XL Bully and a Boerboel. These breeds do not have any requirements.

I think they meant the breeds most banned in various countries or it’s just click bait. What really needs to be done is a study/research on the owners of the dogs that bite people. I would run from a 15 pound dog before I ever ran from something over 40 pounds.
