well, they consider LAB as clean room. In clean room you dont have smokey machines or ones that spill greese at other stuff. there is some machinery, that we consider industial, but it's in general non-poluting stuff, useful in research, which in ONI terms would be what exist in research desks. you can assume manual generator squeaks, making noise polution, annoying scientists that are trying to focus.

One little hint when building in cold areas. Build the floor of the room first using ladders, and dig one level below. That will allow all the cold material to drop below the room. Then build the intended floor. This helps keep all the cold debris our of your rooms. It is often faster to destroy the floors and rebuild compared to sweeping out the room.

One thing I noticed is how good mercury is at transfering heat. I prepared a tank for my water needs, surrounded by isolation, with the bottom row filled with mercury and a tepidizer with a temperature sensor, and the row above being metal tiles for heat transfer. It was so efficient that the ice started to melt before I was done with the metal tiles, which mixed the water and the mercury, it was a mess and I had to reload.

Bammoth can also eat the plum squash "fruit" and since the plant requires to be in a very cold enviroment of -14 c and the bammoth are a very hot creature existing at 56 c it is so much better to farm the squash outside of their pen, sure it requires addicional dupe labor but I think is important in early game since harvesting the plant gets you more seeds and you have more space for planting more squashes for the future 6 bammoth ranch.

What I prefer for Incubators (and admittedly, this can get pretty power/refined metal intensive) is a pressure plate under the point of interest for the incubator, and then a line of buffer, not, and filter gates to ensure that the incubator will only switch on if it's been 600 seconds since the last visit, and it'll stay on until a duplicant stays on the tile for 10 seconds (and then a few seconds after, so it doesn't shut off before the dupe is finished lullabying it). Sometimes Ranchers just can't get to the eggs in time, and the timer gate will just mean the egg got skipped for lullabies. I prefer the reactive setup. Unfortunately, it also means that you can end up with several incubators needing lullabies at once.

But by ONI definitions, those would be Science stations or utilities, not industrial machinery, which tend to either be power generators or refinement buildings. While, yes a centrifuge is a refinement station, if put into ONI [maybe in a medical rework DLC featuring an infectious planet] they would either be considered a generic building [to be allowed in labs OR hospitals], or medical equipment [so ONLY in hospitals]
@jamesrhodes37635 ай бұрын
You probably won't think the juice is worth the squeeze, but I like controlling incubators with a latch. Weight sensor for the dope goes into a filter gate, filter gate goes into 3 buffer gates, then a not gate, and into the incubator. That covers for variable time for the rancher to get there.

instead of a standard ranch, you could build one of those runaway type ranches, where the stable itself is small, but the door is left open, so the critters have free roam ability outside the stable. it no longer matters how you feed these new critters, so just dropping tons of pike apples and squash will allow you to absolutely push hundreds of them in this colony. i have over 30 bammoth and 100 flox sharing the same stable, with only enough space for 2 grooming stations and 2 shearing stations, but over 100 kcal of meat production.

I think you messd up the timer. If you set it red for 600s it will be green later every cycle and not be green for an entire cycle every 10 cycles. So it must be 540s red to add the 60s it's green. But I'm a little new to the game and didn't got that deep in automation yet, so idk if my logic is wrong

Can wild Bammoths eat from the hydroponic tiles? I’m worried the plant in the ranch will never grow enough to get seeds, with the bammoths eating it.
@VShuricK5 ай бұрын
yep, they can eat from hydrponiv. Even more - they can eat plumes from feeders.
@Lightman03595 ай бұрын
I was looking for a bammoth question or comment... It is more effective [though a bit labor intensive until you get shipping up] to treat bammoths [and floxes] like you treat hatches, and not like you treat Pips or Dreckos: put your drop-off, grooming station, shearing station, and a feeder in a row, followed by a door capped with 1 block. then fill the rest of the room with plants that the critters cannot reach. Floxes and Bammoth can eat from feeders. 25 KG of Plume Squash or 5 KG of pikeapple in the feeder is enough to tide over an entire ranch until the next harvest comes in, after rounding up excess. You will still need an entire additional greenhouse of squash per bammoth ranch, but by rationing and actually harvesting, you get more seeds and can cook and eat the leftover critter feed. This does require 1 dedicated farmer-rancher per ranch, plus 1 for the farm, so 3 dupes dedicated to food maintenance, but is worth it. Yes they can eat from the hydro tiles as well, even wild. I stress the importance of separating the crops from critters, especially the bammoths, because bammoths are HOT [50c] like with Dreckos and mealwood, Bammoths will stifle your squash.

Little late on this one, but unless I'm mistaken, having the dupes on different shifts and sleeping schedules means you only have to have as many beds as you have dupes sleeping at any given time right? So if you only have 3 sleeping together per shift, couldn't you get away with only having 3 beds, and the dupes just rotate between them?

I'm curious; why all the alveo vera plants? I ask as each dupe exhales 2g/s of CO2, and each domesticated plant consumes 2g/s of CO2. A few extra for time to harvest, ofc. Edit; did not remember there are two wood burners. In which case: you need a lot more alveo vera plants. Burners produce 170g/s of CO2. When the time comes that power needs go up, they'll be active a lot more (already killed two runs by forgetting about expanding CO2 removal. Currently just crushing excess CO2 with doors while working towards clean(er) energy, like nuclear)

Instead of having all your Alveo Vera in the bottom of your base, why not keep a few right next to some of the buildings where your dupe spend the longest? They way, the plant will immediately capture the CO2 as they breathe and you don't have to worry about their co2 flowing down. Should help your FPS a little bit. Plus, the plant has a decent decor so it should help with mood somewhat. Of course, while your your dupes aren't using the building, the plant will get stiffled, but as long as you also have sufficient Alveo Vera at the bottom of the base, it should still be fine. You can also keep some plants wherever co2 tends to get stuck, as long as temperature is low enough. To me, it seams like sublimating stations would better as a primary oxygen source since these DLC is all about wood production. Treated Alveo Vera as a decentralized CO2 recycling devise makes more sense to me than as a primary oxygen source.
