Once again, you perfectly summed it up, Skyman. THIS felt Star-Warsy to me too. I loved the droid bar...I was hoping for a Chopper sighting, but I think that's going to have to wait until Ahsoka's series when we see what's become of The Ghost Squad. I too am a HUGE Jack Black fan and it was a perfect role for him. My wife said she felt early into this episode that it was Bryce's work...and she was right. Bryce Dallas Howard just has such a knack for making her episodes feel like they belong in the greater Star Wars Universe. I too would love to see her helm an entire series. I got very nostaligc once Bo Katan ignited the dark saber...but this time we know she actually won it. I would LOVE to see Sabine wind up being in the final battle for Mandalore as well. Keep up the great work, Skyman...may the force be with you.

I liked this episode. It was just plain fun. Not every episode needs to be dark, and this one touched up on the plight of droids after the clone wars which was never addressed before.

You’re right, but the problem is timing. This would have been fine for episode 4. Or maybe even 5 had pacing not been absolutely horrible all season long already. Also feels like Din just giving the Darksaber to Bo is like… wtf was the point of him ever having it? Same with Grogu returning between seasons. Doesn’t seem to be following a coherent plan. It’s like the Sequel Trilogy all over again

@@OEx25 yeah, but Gideon was in the last two episodes of each season, so I feel like the last two episodes will be more climatic. I also agree that the darksaber handoff was a little weird...I think there will be an objection from the armorer about the dark saber, since it seemed a little weak. I hope there's an unsuspected appearance in the last two episodes... someone like Kyle Katarn. I expect there to be some from the Book of Boba Fett to appear, but any cameo needs to be careful. They do seem to just be putting characters in place for the Ashoka series, which might my make this season anticlimactic.

Also the second season had a clear goal and each cameo furthered the plot from Bo to Ashoka to Boba to Luke, this one has tons of lose threads that they're trying to tie together.

One of the main things I noticed in this episode, Din Djarin shows leadership and diplomacy in every confrontation. He got the Ugnaughts to talk to them. He got the Droid bartender to talk to them. His honesty in losing the dark saber brought the other Mandalorians around. Din is showing his leadership skills while standing beside Bo-Katan. Great episode.

I really was pleased to see your appreciation of this episode! I really liked it as well. On the whole it took chances and it really felt like a George Lucas product. Yeah within the context of being the 3rd to last ep it probably wasn't a smart move but was still so fun!

I agree, Starman. Bryce Dallas Howard is clearly it. She has demonstrated now on her 2nd, maybe 3rd, occasion that she *gets* Star Wars. She even said it herself in an interview, she grew up on set on her father’s movies (Ron Howard), who is a close friend & colleague of George Lucas. She knows George, considered a family friend, so she grew up around Star Wars. I, too, would love it if they gave her a full Star Wars series or a standalone movie (or trilogy *wink wink* ). Heck, i’ll just say this… from here on out, as it pertains to tv shows or even most of the movies, the only people that I want directing episodes/movies should be: George Lucas, Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Bryce Dallas Howard and Deborah Chow. And I will throw in Carl Weathers as a sub-in for “throw away” episodes or in the event that one the aforementioned Directors schedules are just too hectic that they need to drop an episode. I would include Taika Waititi, but his one episode seemed to be just a one-off, and he’s just got other franchises to worry about anyways. But yeah, only these people can touch Star Wars in my book. And don’t let Kathleen Kennedy meddle anymore with the scripts or production. She has done more than enough damage.

At the beginning this show worked as a serial with an added story, then the story became front and center, now everyone expects it. The formula changed and now it cant go back, so amazing episodes like this get frowned upon it's a shame because it was great and executed well.

I loved this episode. It felt like a live action Clone Wars episode. The world building and expanding on the lore was great and I get the feeling we're going to see more Plazir-15. It's nice to have a bright, happy outer rim world. Not everything needs to be a wasteland, desert, or a primitive world in the outer rim.

I have been torn. Your positivity and perspective allowed me to take a breath and appreciate how much was included in this from that expansive world building aspect. Will Bo and Mando hook-up one day?. Definitely a soft Sabre hand-over, but I am not going to cry about it because the arc of gained respect and partnership between Bo and Mando,their individual evolution and growth is very satisfying and makes sense. Because of this I never really thought they would battle it out. Mando never sought it out or wanted it. He doesn't make new enemies without obvious reasons to. He is extremely pragmatic and doesn't involve himself without a reason. Thanks mate. Zeb from Oz.👍

Din Djarin is a good man and leader. He also has no desire for the leadership of an entire civilization. As a rogue warrior, leader of an elite squad, advisor, political emissary for Mandalore, and/or father of Grogu, he is better suited for those rolls...and he knows himself. Loved the overall feel of this episode. Great cameos, and call-backs. The episode had a Clone Wars feel to it. Also appreciated that he understood and took advantage of the Darksaber loophole and when it would be needed....in front of those who left Bo-Katan because she no longer possessed it. This move would have been lost on the Children of the Watch. She won them by walking their path, proved her loyalty and skills, and was the chosen one having seen the mythosaur. As for the issues with the sequels, it might be more due to your age, but the prequels weren't exactly seen with loving eyes by many of the older fans who embarked on this journey during the time of the original trilogy (including the time gap between them and the prequels). It has taken a decade or so, plus subsequent releases of new material, for some to warm up and embrace the prequels. In time, and with all of the recent work factored in, the same will be said of the sequels. Add to that, there are plenty of people just discovering the SW Universe with all of the current post-sequel productions. They will eventually find their way to embracing what came before, in addition to being united with the rest of us as we see what is to come in the years ahead. Great reaction.

I thought the same thing: this episode has SOOOOO many aliens. It really made the scope huge. It probably had more aliens in this one episode than in all of Kenobi and Andor combined. The episode was a little quirky and I can understand how that’d piss some people off, but the world building in this episode was great.

I don't get the haters for this ep. It was silly and fun and pulled from a lot of pulpy style source/playing with classic fiction tropes in a space fantasy way just like the OT (in this case it was CSI, Robot)

Bizarre that you *always* hate on the 'slower' filler episodes (that actually elaborate on the story and have really good subtle acting etc), but like this one which is basically a poorly told side quest. They could have done so much with the droids yet didn't. They could have told so much more of the story yet didn't. It was a real disappointment.

just an FYI the imperial ship Bo captured back then, is called an "Arquitens-class light cruiser" and for anyone who hasn't played the RTS-game "Empire at War", ISD's (Imperial Star Destroyers) are about 25-30 times bigger.

Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong but I could have swore before the very first episode of season one ever dropped that there was some kind of roadmap put out by Disney explaining their plans for the plot of Mandalorian. If my memory serves me well they stated something about around season three or four transitioning the title from the Mandalorian to the Mandalore, A.k.a. the ruler of the planet and its people, and narratively it makes sense for Bo To take lead and I feel like we may see Din taking a step back from the spotlight and the show becoming about Bo not him

I have to wait till this evening to watch Mandalorian with my good lady. I loved this episode. For a change we managed to tie up some references to previous Star Wars which was fun. The little droids that cordoned off the crime scene reminded us of Wallie!!! But, that twist about the Dark Saber I did not see coming and I think neither did Bo. Just shows how honourable Mando is. Din D'jarin doesn't need the Darksaber or anything overpowered to be true mandalorian walking the Way according the Creed. He is in tribe, rising Grogu as a mandalorian foundling, but he is a zealot who cant unite all lost tribes and clans in the Galaxy just because he is a traditionalist the Way and Creed is enough for him but not enough to unify everyone else and that's why he passed the Darksaber to Bo by Creed (by loophole in it) because he knows (as well as Armorer recognised this too) she is also Heiress and took the Creed. To overcome disagreements between clans Bo need all symbols of power. This is the Way.

I think the key to the city is a tracker. Jack Black being in the amnesty program makes him susceptible to Gideon's influence. Then, add the fact that Mandalorians seem to have helped Gideon escape. Maybe those Mandalorians at his disposal. "It's a trap!"

Great reaction, Skyman. Yes, this was an especially interesting episode. The world-building was great. And, I think We can be rather certain that all of this new stuff will color the next two volumes in The Mandoverse, in 2023...Ahsoka and Skeleton Crew. I like this new planet (and its 2 unique-looking leaders) in The Outer Rim...so colorful...I want future episodes to spend some time depicting its nightlife and venues. Yes, Bryce Dallas Howard does bring something special to Star Wars. And, yes, this particular episode was very Star Wars-y. So, Grogu Djarin will eventually acquire quite a list of status titles, from different worlds in the galaxy, by the time he's 80 years old. Don't worry, Thor...We may yet get to see Mos Espa daimyo, Lord Fett and Mistress Shand, by the end of this Season. (Also, We don't know, for sure, what that secret Mando-related series is that Jon and Dave have in store for Us.) Regarding the possibly inevitable lead-in to The Sequel Trilogy: Based on statements from Favreau & Filoni, the original storytelling and characters of The Mandoverse may NOT necessarily be tethered to the demented trainwreck that is the legacy of Iger, Kennedy, The Lucasfilm Story Group, Abrams, and Johnson. Perhaps, The New Beyond will have something to do with that. This Is The Way...

To use a weak plot to say a "rescue" was in fact a "fight" isn't fun for us viewers. Disappointed Din and Bo didn't have a yield fight to own the Dark Sabre in front of her followers. We had a fight OK but with the wrong combatants. Would have cut Jack Balck and Lizzo out so I would have money left to film Din and Bo fight for the DS. Wasted plot and wasted special guests too

I can see why people hated this episode, and see why people loved this episode. I'm in the middle. This season has felt a bit all over the place, but each episode does feel very much like Star Wars. I just wish they focused more on Din and Grogu. Though they haven't been sidelined completely in their own show, it feels like it MIGHT go there, which I hope doesn't happen.

I think this is a by-product of Disney/Lucasfilm Ltd. forcing Grogu back with Din, cause it would 1. Grogu spending an extended time period with Luke, would negate newly established lore, that Ben Solo is Master Skywalker's First Jedi Student, and 2. the company worried that a lack of the Din and Grogu/Father & Son dynamic might lessen viewership, merchandise, and overall interest in the most profitable, successful content from the SW IP, since Disney's purchasing of it. Favreau & Filoni (most likely) wanted at least half of Season 3 to NOT include Baby Grogu; and, like the cancellation of Rangers Of The New Republic (an intentional creative, managerial, and sociopolitical hit on The Mandoverse, Favreau, and Gina Carano, from Kennedy and her minions), this forced alteration is leaving a trail of inconsistency in Season 3's overall execution.

Carano's own actions scuppered that plan in its current format and it would have done more damage if it went ahead. Now the is potentially a new rangers idea opening up which it's clear mandolorian show runners are slowly dripping into the main show which could mean more spinoffs

Don't know. Didn't like it at all. I mean the robots were really nice to see again and that dome city, but with Din and Bo like detectives chasing the bad one was just a waste of an episode to me, when there's so much more to tell...and how easily she got one of the most important sabers of Star Wars back! So disappointed. I want my Western Hero Mandalorian who has exciting adventures with his Jedi child and their friends back! 😅
