Hi Kurazarrh, I started watching this series about a month ago and I've been absolutely loving it. Your voice, jokes, and how you explain the game is really helpful and also comforting, kind of like listening to a friend at a coffee shop. My pc had broke and this series kept me going, got my pc back and I've bought this game based off your little walkthrough. It's been amazing. Thanks for this series. It's great.

For the lantern for the front door, you can do one of those old lamp post in the yard by the walkway. I don't know if everyone knows about them, but they seem to always be painted black and be alittle over head high. Thanks for the vid!

For the door lantern, you could try to place it on the ground either on the stoop or just at the foot of it - so that it's not meant to look like a permanent fixture, but rather something that you'd grab on your way out to feed the animals or something that you just left outside after running inside real quick to grab something.

Nice job with the house facing... I wasn't sure how well those bricks would work, but they really do the trick! Of course, it looks like you gave that face a couple of black eyes, but... ;) Also, I know you're not big on the cherry, but I usually use 'em for some cherry pies... Just some food for thought!
@Kurazarrh Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Glad the design grew on you! As for the pies, cherry pie still gives less satiation than other fruit, so I still prefer to avoid it. If the game let you use more cherries \ cranberries in recipes to account for that deficit, I'd probably use them more.

Absolutely love the door shape! Perhaps there is a way to soften the roof steps underneath with chiselling? I suppose the problem would be that the wood looks like aged wood that could be pretty expensive if you want something to blend in.
@Kurazarrh Жыл бұрын
I think we have enough aged wood to make it blend in, just that we can't chisel the actual roof blocks themselves. If we need to, we could even steal some aged planks from the translocators nearby! ;)
@dittymargoo Жыл бұрын
@@Kurazarrh Yeah, I kinda guessed you wouldn't be able to chisel the roof blocks. Can you chisel the leaf blocks from the mod you have installed? If so they might also be useful to cover things.
@Kurazarrh Жыл бұрын
@@dittymargoo No, the leaf blocks aren't chiselable. Generally speaking, if the block isn't a solid cube, slab, or stair-step shape, it's not chiselable.

Thanks for the series! Question: Do you know the max size an animal pen can be and will they graze on wild grass with occasional trough feedings and still be considered farm animals?
@Kurazarrh10 ай бұрын
Glad you're enjoying it! As for your question, there isn't really a maximum pen size, though there are some practical limitations I'd suggest. Pens larger than about 40x40 are largely impractical since the animals might not notice and pathfind their way to the troughs. Pens larger than 10x10 are also somewhat impractical if you intend on breeding animals: male animals have a 10-block mating range. Animals seem to currently be bugged, and they won't graze on wild plants during the warmer months. But even so, for breeding purposes, you still need to feed them from a trough anyway. Wild grazing only affects their weight. Outdoor pens of ANY size are often not recommended because bears especially can attack over fences, unless you build them 2+ blocks high (and I recommend 3 blocks for fences, 4 blocks high for non-fence blocks).

@loviebeest Жыл бұрын

@Kurazarrh Жыл бұрын
I generally tend toward some asymmetry because I find symmetrical builds look too structured. But on larger builds (like builds at the top end of reasonable size in VS), I start to like symmetry again. Haha.

Hey, sir. I just got the game 2 days ago after coming across a different video, but have been devouring your series due them helping to explain the game. Downside is that with 1.18.7, this seed isn't playable since the area where your house that your building in this video on top of a mountainous area. I hope that if you do a season 3, I'll be able to play along 😂 keep up the great work. 👍
@Kurazarrh Жыл бұрын
Hey, that's awesome! Welcome to Vintage Story! Yeah, unfortunately the seed is no longer valid in 1.18.2 or higher. If you downgrade your game to 1.18.0 or 1.18.1 and generate a new world using this seed, it should generate in the same manner as the world in the Guide series. After that, you can upgrade to the latest and it should stick.
@deviantpersona Жыл бұрын
@Kurazarrh I'll have to try that. I'm just now starting to get a few mods put in...I usually play about 20 hours of a game before even looking at mods to see how vanilla runs and what is needed for QOL. Plus, I mostly stick to building enhancements just for variety. I did try a terrain mod out, but not sure if I'm liking it, and though a ruin mod makes the ruins more realistic looking, it boosts the jar rate to where being a loot goblin is detrimental to game play early game. I may uninstall those 2 just for a more challenging experience.
@Kurazarrh Жыл бұрын
@@deviantpersona Ah. You're talking about Better Ruins. XD Yeah it adds interesting ruins, but it adds way too many of them, and they're all loot pinatas and too good in the early game. I do keep the Guide series mod list in the video description, and it's meant to be a "Vanilla plus QoL" series, so if you're looking for Vanilla-like, my mod list might be a great place to start. :)

Personally don't like that roof overhang. It looks like it was built after everything was dug up and entry was build after instead of home being dug up entirely from the hill. Plastic-plant feel. I'd personally would just place square grass blocks as one block overhang and it will gradually go down to the base of the wall, maybe with a sneaky blocks to jump up on the roof. Would look more like a rabbit that burrowed into the hill, but that rabbit also can build doors and forge some lanterns from bronze.
@MrTerranaunt10 ай бұрын
But why does that window styling prevent the room from providing the 'room bonus'?
@Kurazarrh10 ай бұрын
In order for a room to be "sealed" as far as insulation goes, it must be made from solid blocks, slabs with their solid side touching the room, stairs with a solid side facing the room, doors, and window panes in the correct orientation. Chiseled blocks must have an "insulating face" on the interior side of the block in order to seal the room, and it only allows for removal of up to 20 1x1 microvoxels on the insulating face. In this case, a single block with our fancy brick window frame is missing a total of 64 microvoxels on its insulating side, so it won't seal the room.
