If some guys living in such residential areas like in the video are reading this, let me tell you how lucky you are. A flat, nice and quiet streets (in a safe neighbourhood) is a rare thing in most places in the world.
@Chasery3 жыл бұрын
In Leeds if I'm correct I'm pretty sure this is a loop that most athletes in the area do. That is why most of the residents are welcoming and it's a rather quiet neighborhood. I feel for city runners though where it would be hard to find a safe place to run. Not much for younger people to do out there unless you can have your parents drive you somewhere a little more peaceful

@@Chasery as a runner in leeds, it really is a great city to train in, lots of local quiet towns to go through, a beautiful canal, lots of great and big parks and trails to explore, some fast tracks, a couple of flat areas like the one shown in this video to do reps and lots of hills for hill reps

Great video today! This kind of goes back to my comment a few days ago about maybe getting some NCAA division 1 athletes or something right under professional on these videos. I feel as being 17 years old myself this video is very beneficial to see someone closer to my age putting in some really good work! These daily uploads are amazing! Fingers crossed I think I'm going to get the Vaporfly NEXT %2 for christmas. Very interested since I am younger but do want to dabble in the half marathon when I'm older to see if the Adidas Takumi Sen 8 would be a fun option to give a go since when I'm not racing on the track and I'm too young to do the half marathon distance if the Sen 8's would be a good option for my local 5k's

@@deanevans3968 well yeah I can race half marathons right now! I'm just in the states in the high school system so I have my senior season of outdoor track soon. My coach doesn't want me training for a half marathon right now because I wouldn't have enough speed for the 800m - 3200m. I'm on a small team as well where I am the only distance runner so the team will need me come track time. I live in Buffalo, NY and we have an amazing half marathon/marathon course that is a qualifier for the boston marathon

Hey SweatElite, been watching your content for a while now, great stuff. Was wondering, from your experience, what kind of intervals do athletes that do 10K races do? 1K intervals? 1K repeats? 2K? 5K maybe? For some context I wanna get my 10K time down to around 40-45 minutes. Currently around 55 minutes. Thanks again for the great content!
@Purespeed9413 жыл бұрын
To be honest, for the time you’re running and even what you’re aiming for, you’ll probably see more benefit from just gradually increasing your weekly mileage and introducing some strides. But in terms of intervals, you’d generally be looking at 800, 1k and 1 mile repeats.
@sweatelite3 жыл бұрын
What PureSpeed said ^
@FrankSorbaraTriathlon3 жыл бұрын
i agree with @Purespeed941 but then also the length of interval is just one variable. by playing with the duration (and or the intensity) of the rest period you could basically make any workout a 10km specific workout. For instance doing very hard 400s on say 400m jog recovery maybe be more specific to a miler/3km runner, but changing recovery down to just 100m and stringing bunches of them together and now looking at 5-10km type speed workout.
@abhishekdude663 жыл бұрын
Yup. I also increased my PB of 10k from 55 min to 43 min just by constantly running within 3 months. Started doing intervals and some tempos which helped it drop to 39 min at present
@soraya2173 жыл бұрын
Like everyone else said, you seem to be lacking greatly in aerobic capacity, the literal best thing you could do is just run slow, you could do like a 30min run at a very easy pace every day and on the week one long run of 1h. Key point being easy, you shouldnt go at your 10k pace, you shouldn't be hurting and most importantly you should feel like you could have gone for more easily

Just a question why are the workout distances in miles when they’re in the UK? Is it just to keep it at the same standard as the American Athletes?
@rahelwijeyekoon94033 жыл бұрын
The UK is officially on metric, but colloquially a lot of people still use imperial. Their road signage is also mostly in miles and mph, so people tend to use them for distance and speed as that's what they're used to.
@TimGrose3 жыл бұрын
Yeah as mentioned, I would say a slight majority of runners in the UK tend to think in terms of miles per week (me included), cars show speed in mph as the primary metric, all road signs are in miles or mph. That said if we are talking short distances on the track or road then we will use metres and often kms. So basically we use both and many races have both miles and km signs and helps to understand both so we all know what we are talking about!
@philrolls32333 жыл бұрын
To confirm what the other guys are saying - we (UK) use a mish-mash of imperial and metric systems. Most athletes I know use imperial

I'd also keep off the hard surfaces as much as possible. I love seeing seriously talented juniors develop. At 1.46 and clearly has aerobic endurance, if i could short sell his time drop for 1500m i'll be a millionaire in 12 months ! i see 3.35/6 easily

On quite residential roads like this in the UK, I usually run in the middle of the road as (a) the pavement/sidewalk is often very bumpy (b) easier to avoid walkers (c) little or no camber in the middle of the road.
