My favourite bit is when you're driving down a 100kph road, and the speed reduced you to 40kph, because on a side road, behind a concrete barrier around 20 metres away, there's somebody that might be operating a machine that if a truck plowed into it, the truck would come off second best, let alone wanting to know how they'd get through the barriers. And then there are the ones that don't even have any workers on it, but the roadworks stay there for about 2 years with nothing being done on it. They're my favourites. Second to that would be the "safety" islands that a car has to swerve violently left, violently right, and then straighten up again so that they can avoid pedestrians. True safety features.

I'm a traffic controller and the only thing i disagree with. Is you actually getting along with the workers. Most of the time they hate us more then the public do. We're only there because its a requirement and not because they want us. Not all the time though some are good people.
