To me, the number of sins is not as important (because sometimes they just say fuck it and add an arbitrary number of sins) as why the movie was sinned. The first sin in most films is the logo that you KNOW the studio is going to put there.
@markdailey40738 жыл бұрын
To clarify: according to the original lore (like way before vampires drove Volvos and sparkled in sunlight) zombies are soulless and ghouls are brainless. Zombies are effectively still sentient, but are usually thralls. Ghouls are 'morons' that shuffle about and eat humans. The "zombies" in most zombie movies are actually ghouls. R is a zombie according to original lore.

I loved the comedy in the first part of the film "I'm lost .... no really, I've never been to this part of the airport before". I love this movie. I thought it was a interesting take on the zombie genre and I'm so glad that Nicholas Hoult got lots of good work after About A Boy. I know this part isn't totally knew, but I love the idea that zombies are actually not just mindless, but the hunger drives them to do things that eventually they just have to become numb to in order to survive. I can't imagine and existence like that. That has to suck. Also as many likely figured out already, zombie is just a metaphor, which is why the rules are arbitrary. I personally don't care either way, I just liked the feel of the movie. I also like that he sticked with R as his name.

They seem less like zombies and more like dark souls' hollows. They forget everything, and only do what they did in life in a futile attempt to try and break the curse. The TSA, janitors and other guys had jobs were killing intruders wasn't part of their job so they don't attack strangers.Maybe the main zombie gets a consciousness due to actually being unemployed, so he really has no motion to remember or perform. Like hollows they don't react to one another but will attack anyone bearing humanity relentlessly, but that really applies to all zombies i guess.

If you read the original novel , they actually have a lot more to show and are quite interesting. They have a lot more intelligence, more character than the zombies. The movie had to skip most of it for the sake of simplicity but these boneys had a weird hmmm noise and many unexplainable traits too. Zombies became boneys when they have lost all hope and desires. They don't get hungry , they kill just cause. But probably the most interesting part is that they are pretty intelligent , have a religion and scheduled religious gathers. They organise marriages for the zombies and even assign kids to them.

@vthenarheqa8 жыл бұрын
Except, like most things in writing, there is a time and place for world building. World building only matters if the history of the world matters to the story -- otherwise it's just unnecessary filler. In a story like this, it doesn't matter where the zombies came from or why -- that literally has no impact on the story. Now, if the zombie-ism was cured because of some detail related to how they were created in the first place, then yes, you'd have to give the origins for it to make sense. But that's not the case here (as far as I can tell -- didn't actually see the movie).

amaranthe I know what world building is. I was talking about this movie specifically where it doesn't matter.

Emili York doesn't mean you can't have some fun with it. Imagine how much fun this movie would have been if the zombies were part of an ancient curse involving a stolen artifact from an Mayan temple and they have an Indiana Jones adventure to undo it. That sounds so much better than Romeo and Juliet with necrophilia.
