I'd forgotten how horrific distribution was for the last two waves of Legacy Evolution. I got all these figures from eBay and Amazon, so I hadn't paid attention to these figures hardly ever appearing on the shelves of Target nor Walmart.

It is insane just how bad it is. I don't know if it's true, but I heard from a fan recently that's because of a Tax Fraud scheme Hasbro was running where they were actually releasing a lot of wave 3 and 4 directly to discount stores rather than normal retailers, and then declaring a loss.

Fun fact about dreadwing, they actually did very minor retooling to the inside of the torso to make the transformation easier than skyquake. Also strongarm is way better than the elita version of the mold, conversion process is actually kind of fun rather than clashy now

As someone who owns both the Legacy and POTP Beachcomber figures, Legacy adds plenty of stuff over POTP, even if you ignore the bird because it's easy to lose. It has wrist swivel, ankle tilt, waist swivel, covers for the back of the legs, a weapon (which can become the vehicle mode bumper), soft-plastic tires that roll substantially better, and the roll cage piece on its back actually folding away in robot mode rather than just hanging out. The only things it sacrifices are Titan Master compatibility and a couple minor paint apps.

I'd argue it sacrifices a lot for those very minor gains. Like the transformation has WAY worse clearances, and stuff like the knees has less range, plus the altmode looks less finished and gappier. So over all it's just less fun than the normal version.

@@PerspectiveEnd Transformation's only *slightly* less buttery smooth if you transform the arms before the legs, but otherwise fair. The knee bend reduction is a direct result of the cover pieces, so that's ultimately a choice of either having obvious hollowness with way beyond average bend, or covering the gaps and having average bend (with the option to cheat for more by opening the covers).

RID 2015 Strongarm also fails because the character is supposed to be a bulky power house but the Elita 1 mold is the definition of petite. Even if you don't like the character, the designers still did her such a disservice by giving her a mold that's the antithesis to her entire character design.

Legacy Dreadwing is my favorite figure in the trilogy so far. I haven't bought very many United figures yet but I'm not sure if anything's going to beat Dreadwing in terms of how much I enjoy the figure.

As someone whose favorite Transformers character is (IDW 1.0) Deathsaurus, and who got a HasLab Deathsaurus, I think it's pretty meh. It's a CHUG figure with some vac metal, which is to say he could've/should've been better and the shiny stuff doesn't cut it. He costs as much as a titan, but his partscount doesn't make up for the weight difference. Individually articulated figures, an ab crunch, bigger/expandable wings, articulated chicken head, and an article tail shield would've fit in with other CHUG figures and made it more worthwhile. If it weren't for it's more exclusive nature, I would sell it the moment another large dmDeathsaurus came out (Fans Hobby needs to give us one, but XTB can keep theirs; I have Ismenios, but he's very square and much too short for my liking as a permanent iteration).

To be fair I really like that version of him too, but this isn't that dude so it makes total sense to not be super into the Masterforce version of him. I would love to see more Vac Metal figures though. BRING BACK TRANMETALS!!! I think as a version of the dude it's trying to be it does manage to justify it self by having like all the stuff in the universe, but for sure it's just not the IDW guy that I want. Give me the Con who actually cares about his troops, not this anime villain BS.

DeathSaurus is a must-have for me, he’s just so stunning. Dreadwing too. And I know this is sorta unrelated but I LOATHE it when hasbro turns a male character into a female, like when they made Cyberverse Lugnut into Clobber. I personally think of Lugnut and Clobber as 2 separate entities, because Clobber is a stain on Lugnut’s glorious legacy.

@PerspectiveEnd of course the legends class has "better" knees, his shins are hollow from the back. But the Deluxe class eliminates like 80% of the hollowness and adds a waist, ankles, and wrists. The transformation is still smooth brained, and the proportions are comparatively a bit doofy, but I'm happy with it. Also, fwiw I would say the parakeet isn't *that* likely to get lost despite its size because the rubbery material it's made of holds on to the port pretty well. And like, it's a bird... if it was much bigger, it would just look dumb.

I mostly agree. I have Bludgeon and love him for his colors and sword. I can ignore the weird shoulders and so-so alt mode. Having working wheels and hiding the fists would have made this mold live up to the hype. It was close.

ok i can fill in some of the gaps left here firstly, DA BIRB IS MORE WORTH THAN THE FIG ITSELF, second Devcon just didn't show up ANYWHERE ACROSS THE GLOBE BASICALLY, thirdly, nemesis leo is better in person with no dirt brown, dreadwing is the same thing with quality issues fixed, snarl is just like swoop, detritus is a satisfying thing, and Bludgeon kinda makes the shoulders work that and towline from legacy is good

All rid2001 figures sucked cause they were giant shellformers with large amounts of kibble. Weird thing to say when of the molds designed specifically for the series, the only ones I'd say are kibbly are sideburn and prowl. Possibly x brawn as well if we're being generous with the meaning of shellformer (though I wouldn't consider him to be in that category myself), and if we do include him that still leaves optimus, magnus, megatron, the three members of team bullet train, and the four members of the build team. Expanding out to the entire toy line, only other figure that would fit that criteria is sky byte, but that would still be 3-4 that have that engineering trait compared to the over 2 dozen figures in the toyline that didn't.

I've heard it suggested, and I think it might be true, that the reason so many of the late waves of Legacy are repaints, retools, or rereleases is because they are trying to cut as many costs as they can now, so that the 13 Primes line can be given more reverance and budget, considering how many fully new designs they need for it

A G1-style Optimus Prime is the kind of thing you'd want as an evergreen product, because it's a natural choice for someone's first figure.

I skipped Tarn (have no attachment to the character, though I ended up getting the cyberverse version), and Bludgeon definitely wears the mold the best. The Hot Rod shoulders work for dynamic sword poses, and the colors are sick asf. Spooky scary samurai is a must for me.

I still like core class swoop but when I first got it the tabs connecting the combine mode hand together were kind of bad but I didn’t really care, then about 3 months after I got it the tab connecting the legs together snapped which is super annoying because now the combine mode arm doesn’t like to stay together, but it’s still the second best in the group.

It's too bad you couldn't find a Devcon - he doesn't give off Blurr vibes at all in either mode due to the heavy remold in person, and gets rid of the headmaster gimmick too since that's a positive feature for you. Even the partsforming tocket pods are not too terribly efgriegous, as they can be tucked into the insside of his legs to vanidsh into nowhere like his screen model (and also fill the little gap on the inside of the calf visually, siunce they're painted the same red.) Basically TR Nlurr but better in every way that counts. @@PerspectiveEnd Yeah, the rocket pods are 5mm accessories, with a couple of ports on teh sides of his gun for the goofy looking "evo fusion" gimmick so it does from a space magic pew pew laser to a giant super-soaker, but ignoring that and just popping them into the legs looks ten times better. There's no real way they could have been set up to do that without partsforming due to where the hinge and opening panels are on the legs, unfortunately, or not without a two- or three-part speghetti strap linkage like the worst of 3p stuff that would be just begging to break and be even worse than partsforming with decently secure end positions in both modes.

I fully agree with that. Tarn is supposed to be a BEAST and that figure just doesn't feel like one. And the shoulders don't help. It makes more sense as Bludgeon since he was more lithe.

I owned Skyquake once, I keep saying this, he has no heels, he will fall over. Also, his weight is definitely much less than most leaders. On my copy, the wing tips love to fall off, and it annoyed me enough to let him go. Trashmaster's jaw keeps seperating, and his partsforming accessories are really unnecessary, enough for me to just let him go. Deathsaurus is my favorite. Very expensive though. My biggest problem, after so many months, I am still not able to release his outward arm joints. It feels like it's going to break before I get his arms to move out.

I don't really have so much an issue keeping him standing. He's not the most stable in the universe sure, but I find that he is able to handle most of the poses I put him in. Oh yeah for sure, that part is almost impossible to keep together. Yeah doing that part of the transformation always feels sketchy.

Funny how Sideburn shelfwarmed to hell and beyond, but I never saw Shadow Striker at all. Then again, SS86 has also had pretty lousy distribution as well, for quite some time at that...: SS86-20 Dead Prowl...saw this two-pack a couple times, wasn't interested (already have SS86-17 Ironhide, and not interested in Earthrise Datsuns) SS86-21 Ultra Magnus...nope SS86-22 Brawn...nope, only one I've seen is Dead Brawn from the two-pack SS86-23 Ratchet...ditto SS86-24A Dead Ironhide...see Dead Prowl SS86-24B Scrapheap...nope SS86-25 Blaster...nope. Wasn't this supposed to be a Target exclusive? Just shows once more for that particular location closest to me, if it ain't Star Wars or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, they suck at ordering more product to put on shelves. 😒 SS86-26 Swoop...nope, and the ONLY Dinobots I ever saw were Sludge & Snarl, and pretty scarcely at that. SS86-27&28 Dead Brawn & Ratchet...now THIS has shelfwarmed a bit. I may scoop it up if it's still there this time, it simply hasn't been a priority... SS86-29 Bumblebee...huh. For what's supposed to be "A Level" and widely available, I've only seen this thing twice - and the second time I saw it, I was able to get it on sight. SS86-30 Springer...nope SS86-31A Optimus Prime...nope, Target just doesn't like the Commander class, only one this location has ever had was Earthrise Skylynx, and even that was infrequent 😒

That's cause no one cares about Sideburn. I saw the Dead Prowl pack pretty regularly my self, but when it was gone, it was GOOONE I don't really see any Commanders at physical retail any more. Those are still at targets near me. I think I've seen Ratchets, but I cant say where for sure. I've seen several Scrapheaps my self. Yeah I've never seen a blaster my self. I've seen a few Swoops at this point, but they've been out of sock since like the day I reviewed it, and not come back. Ok I have seen the dead Ratchets, but not the live ones. Is that out? I didn't know the Bumblebee was out now. Only saw the one I bought with Springer. I think they just don't retail Commanders I swear.

Earthrise was the first (& likely only) time I got a full complement of Seekers. Even got a 2nd Starscream (at liquidation price), for the Coronation gear (currently on the first one). Since there was an animation error, having multiple red accented Seekers isn't a problem. It's the first time they've been even close to properly scaled in robot mode. Are they flawed, yeah. Will they eventually get better versions? Maybe. Will they be the right size & sufficiently G1, for my tastes? Who knows? I stretched to justify HasLab Victory Saber (needing to account for paint/ tampographs is pushing things). Couldn't reach justification on Deathsaurus. I'd've liked to get him, but he needed to be a bit cheaper (or have better accessories). I also didn't have much attachment to either, so there was no nostalgia factor to override my criteria. Star Saber & Victory Leo seem to be better toys, too. Deathsaurus just had his throne thrown in, to make the value better, & that didn't work with Coronation Starscream, so why would it work with Deathsaurus? I also got Shadow Striker over Sideburn. If he wasn't going to be a Viper, why bother doing him? Got the weird one, who's supposed to be weird, to check out the mold. The articulation is pretty weird, so it works. Also, I might've found her in a clearance aisle. I don't remember, for sure, though. I didn't get Earthrise Hound, why would I get a repaint, especially one never on screen? Siege Hound is a sufficient. I wanted Devcon & either Axelgrease or Lockdown, but never saw any of them. There's still a slim chance Walmart & Target warehouses are just being slow, in parts of the US. Though, Target's around me seem mostly up-to-date, once they switch waves.

Do the Siege one's just not scratch the itch? Too bad I just sold mine to someone else, I let him go for 160, so that's a good bit cheaper than his release price. Maybe I could have done better for my self, but I didn't want to overcharge one of my fans. That's another weird thing about him isn't it? Like not only did they compromise her for him, but for a bad version of him who doesn't even look right? I mean there wasn't an Earthrise hound, or really an Earthrise version of anyone in the show, they all just stuck with their Siege modes. At this point I've given up hope on ever seeing any of those, Hasbro this time has just failed to get my money and it's their fault.

I've got 2 Siege Seekers. Starscream & Thundercracker. The others weren't exactly easy to find, like so much. And I hadn't fully gone all in on WfC, yet. WfC/ Legacy is the first time I've tried getting a full G1 cast, partly because it's the first time G1 scale was observed. I love that the SS86 Dinobots dwarf everyone, as they should. That's my biggest problem with Commander Optimus, the Dinobots aren't quite the right height with him, & Optimus is too tall for Ironhide & Ratchet. Earthrise & Siege Optimus are the prefect height, based on what I go from (a mix of size chart & actual show frames - I prefer Ironhide's head roughly around Op's shoulder emblem, not below it), for both the Dinobots & vans. Certain Autobots seem meant to be just a little shorter Seekers, but not quite tall enough to actually get Voyager figures, under the old circumstances (namely Ratchet, Ironhide, Hoist & Trailbreaker; SS86 Ironhide is roughly the same size as Siege, just more complex). Nice thing with the Siege Seekers, they work as army builders, with how they used recolors for background troops & mixed in some Tetrajets for unadapted troops on Cybertron. So, I actually have 9 Seekers that work together. I also have a mix of Cybertronian & Earthmodes, for many, since I wasn't going to rebuy characters (a few, like Optimus & Starscream, are exceptions) in Earthrise I just got in Siege. Most work fine, like Hound & Sideswipe. It was a bit lazy they were so close to their Earth-modes. The black door-ish panels on some of the Lamborghinis was very annoying. Wound up with an Earth-mode Red Alert, with fire damage tampos, because that mismatched panel looks better on that repaint. And then Clampdown releases, showing that panel didn't need to be black, it could be done in the correct colors. Think he's the only normal release, non-black Earth Lambo, based on Sideswipe, in a solid color, & I got him for specifically that reason (I was already so deep in the line, getting an extra Lambo for the aesthetic didn't feel wrong - prior to WfC, I rarely got mold-mates). Also, the Siege Seekers are very heavy shellformers, & prior to going nearly all in on WfC/ Legacy, I bought most of my Transformers for the engineering, as much as the characters. Makes most Bayformers annoying, too. Those never in the movies tend to better incorporate the vehicles into the robots. Salvage, the Sanford & Son homage, might be my favorite Bay-era figure. I currently don't have the cash flow to have been able to buy yours, if you had still had Deathsaurus to offer me. A/C maintenance in the summer ate into my cushion. Actually, Earthrise Hound did get some kind of release. Think he was just hard to get. TFWiki says he ultimately was decided to be a Buzzworthy Bumblebee release, with SS86 stuff on the package (further proof WfC stuff got dumped into SS86, to get figures out), or something along those lines, AFTER Detritus had released, until Target killed Buzzworthy. It also says That Hound finally released as part of the repaint 5 pack in Generation Selects. I already had a version I was happy with of everyone in that pack, so never bothered getting it. He was clearly designed with Earthrise in mind, & since toys tend to be designed years in advance, & evidence Hasbro mixed & matched between Kingdom & SS86, which line he ultimately released in is irrelevant. It's easiest to identify him as Earthrise Hound, & everyone understands which Hound is being discussed. As for show models, the WfC trilogy didn't really do justice to Transformers. Especially their handling of Dinobot. It's bad enough Kingdom ignored that there was a reason Transformers from the Beast Era both were smaller & why they even had Beast modes, but to try Dinobot's arc, which took half of Beast Wars, in a handfull of eps. was just disrespectful, & clearly evidence they were trying to pull something. I don't consider my WfC stuff from the shows. They're just G1, to me. Most good enough, I'll probably be cutting back on collecting, before too much longer. Age of the Primes may coax me to get all 13 original Primes, if they're done well enough. I already have 3 (Vector Prime, Alpha Trion & Micronus Prime). I really hate it, when pretools are done, that severely compromise both figures. I understand they had problems with Viper, before, over him, but that's no reason to undermine his most iconic element, especially when they licensed Bumblebee. It didn't even need to be a perfect Viper, it just had to recognizably BE a Viper. The Legacy's robot mode is OK (ignoring the weird articulation), but not OK enough for him to ride on. At least the ones I've missed weren't core cast members. But getting the AotP/ SS86 (not sure which they're being classified as, I would suspect a mix, like what happened with Kingdom) combiners feels like it's going to be a nightmare. Especially when Commanders, & some whole waves, are very hit & miss, with reaching shelves. One Walmart near me stopped carrying anything bigger than Voyager (hopefully that changes) & Targets still had Magmatron, last I checked & found any. Apparently, Commander Optimus is supposed to be out, either now or very soon. If I get him depends on if I find him on a shelf, on a day I have spare cash. He will likely be kept separate from everyone else, just another (albeit high quality) Optimus in the collection. I'd like to get the "new" "Leader" Soundwave, if I can find him. I skipped the Netflix version, since I had Siege, but Buzzsaw & a better Rumble, along with the Earthmode, go a long way of making it more appealing, this release. Sadly, never found Ratbat. Had to settle for Wingthing.

Most of the Seekers (Siege, Earthrise, others, doesn't matter), have been exclusive. Especially Skywarp & the Coneheads. I got lucky, with my Seeker 2-pack Amazon orders, apparently. I'd heard a lot got canceled. I prefer getting my toys in stores, but a few HAD to be ordered. So, not only did I break my long standing one figure per mold rule, I had to go out of my way to do so.

Wave 3 and 4 were so hard to find for alot of mid figures, what few good there was just wasn’t found like I checked my local stores for some stuff from this wave and it was strongarms and dirges. Having 5 new figures in 2 waves that’s hard to find seems bad marketing wise, Hasbro needs a revamp of how they market/distribute stuff cause what’s current is hit or miss

A fan of mine recently told me (I don't know if this is true) that it's because Hasbro was pulling some Tax Fraud with it, where they were releasing most of these two waves to discount stores, skipping normal retailers and then declaring a loss on them.
