She isn't as benevolent as she makes you believe, I'll explain: Her most loyal followers often lose faith in her because they realize they are expendable in her eyes and that she only sees them as instruments . Her son was used as a tool and as soon as he ran out of his usefulness, she dragged him back into Oblivion and erased his memories and identity so he could be used again. And the highest of honors that she bestows on her followers is turning them into Purified, which completely strips the mortals of their will in the process. It's just that her sphere and "crusade" against undead is seen by most mortals as good . As such they presume benevolence, which you never should do with a Daedra. She even married Molag Bal. It takes one to know one, and it takes a lot more than even that to marry Molag Bal. And do not mistake this for regular marriage either. Divine marriage is much more significant and bears much more consequences as they become literally a part of each other. And you cannot force a marriage like that onto an unwilling candidate as far as we know. So Meridia willingly sought out Molag Bal and became his wife. And then once she got kicked out for it, she cut all links with him and made him her biggest enemy out of spite.

Spirits tend to not be the most flexible of beings but they do stay true to their purpose. She hates any perversion of life and will show no mercy to those who corrupt it. Doesn't mean she is always beneficial but she at least does seem to want to aid and doesn't seem to view mortals as playthings. Better the most in that respect.

The Exegesis of Merid-Nunda, ancient Ayleid scripture about Meridia, doesn't at all say she "consorted" with Daedra (though that is said in another source). It actually portrays her as _choosing_ to take up residence in Oblivion instead of fleeing back to Aetherius. When she gets to Oblivion, all the Princes rebuff her and demand she leave. But should could not have cared less what the Daedric Princes wanted, so she just laughed in their faces and went about creating her own realm of Oblivion using light from Aetherius. From that short work, we can infer how the Ayleids perceived Meridia. To them, she is both a creator _and sustainer_ of Mundus. Whereas Magnus and the other Magna Ge abandoned creation and fled back to Aetherius, she did not. And though she did not fully sacrifice herself to stabilize creation as did other et'Ada, she remained in close proximity to it. This is likely why she is called "Lady of Infinite Energies" and "is associated with the energies of living things." Also evident-and interesting-is that the Ayleids depict her in an almost adversarial role toward all the other Daedric Princes (or, more accurately, them as adversarial toward her) while at the same time claiming that title and role for herself.

Luxitos The description for the priests of Meridia is very intriguing indeed. It would seem that they Ayleids believed in a very close relationship between light and time, and thus also between Merid-Nunda/Meridia and Auriel/Akatosh. They even claim that by simply being in her element, as the divine personification of light (which is what I think they meant by "riding or sliding across the rainbow road"), Meridia "at one end stretch[es] the dragon, at the other end compress[es] him." That tells me that, at least insofar as the Ayleids were concerned, she too holds some measure of control over the flow of time, not just Auriel/Akatosh alone. Thinking of this, it's not at all surprising that we find yet another beacon used in the Chantry of Auriel (in additon to the one found as part of her quest, and then the one used in Fort Dawnguard). The one in the chantry has a green hue to it, admittedly, and may not be identical to the others, but its presence is still interesting. I wonder, then, if maybe the beacons are pure Anuic artifacts. Also, some theorize that the "drag lense" fashioned by Meridia is the daytime sky of Mundus, and that riding/sliding across the rainbow road, stretching and compressing the dragon/time, is the whole process from dawn to dusk. Interesting theory, and there may be something to it in the universe, but I'm not convinced that's the whole picture. Still, if true, that would paint a Daedric Prince in a very positive, creative light, making Meridia, effectively, goddess of daylight, putting her on par with (if not identical to) Kyne/Kynareth as goddess of the sky and nature.

Mason Officially theres also a theory which the blue sky you see on nirn, is actually a filter or a reflection (like a light shining through a prism) of one of her Colored Rooms. Makes sense since she has a strong connection to her father (Magnus) and her domain is usually up in the sky

I think Lucifer is a poor example because Meridia wants to destroy all false life. She hates necromancers, vampires, liches, zombies, etc. She is extremely zealous in her desires. Lucifer wants to tempt mortals into sin. I think Molag Bal is a better Satan but then again Molag Bal is worse in a lot of ways. Also there is no real contradiction if you want to worship Meridia along side the Divines. In fact she has quite a complimentary relationship with Arkay. Meridia may be a fallen one but this Daedric Prince is more of an Anti-hero then a villain.

in the beginning there were the E'tada the original spirits, they all embodied different aspects, Auriel was time, Lorkhan was space ect Lorkhan convinced the other E'tada to create the mortal universe, Mundus. Magnus made the plans and they set about making it. Unknown to everyone but Lorkhan the whole think was a trap and stole power from all of them, Magnus was the first to realise and fled to aetherius tearing a hole through oblivion, that hole is the sun. Others followed Magnus but becuase they didn't leave as early they lost a lot more power and so only tore small holes (the stars), these became known as the Magna-Ge. The rest that stayed behind are known as the aedra (our ancestors). Others lost so much power that they became the ehlnofey. Some ehlnofey were scattered into the chaos of the broken twelve worlds of creation and became the wondering ehlnofey (ancestors of man) others survived in a piece of the old ehlnofey world and build a beutiful civilisation, they became known as the old ehlnofey (ancestors of elves). At some-point the confused, lost wondering ehlnofey found the old ehlnofey and were joyous at the civilisation that had been build, but the old ehlnofey looked down on the wandering ehlnofey as degenerates. Eventualy a war broke out with Lorkhan, Kyne(Kynareth), Tsun and Stuhn(Stendarr) leading the wandering ehlnofey and Auriel, Trinimac, Jephre, Phynaster leading the old ehlnofey. Eventually Trinimac killed Lorkhan but the damage was already done, the aedra couldn't go back the ehlonfy were mortal now. This was caused the singular continent of nirn to split up into all the others when the land was shattered and sank. The ones who didn't take part in creation became known as the aedra

Thor's Hammer The name aedra is given to the divines for they are gods that are involved in the creation (and, I guess, completion) of Mundus and Nirn. Mortals' ancestors, more or less. Magnus, along with other gods (such as Meridia), fled from creation upon founding out that it drains their power. Creating the sun and stars, and becoming the et'Ada. Not truly aedric, but does share that sort of nature.

MrFreakinReaper Well the since classifying et'Ada can be confusing I would say that any et'Ada born from Anui-el are Aedras and any born from Sithis are Daedras so I believe that what the elves believe isn't accurate. Example: So the elves are meaning to tell me that any et'Ada that didn't take part in the creation of Mundus is a Daedra but yet Meridia took part of the creation of Mundus and they consider her a Daedric prince isn't that a contradiction?

Daedra are more powerful than the magna ge, having lost none of their power in the creation process. Perhaps Meridia made some sort of pact with Mephala, the daedra of lies and secrets, in order to regain the power she lost by becoming daedric in nature, the sharing of the ring being something to do with the pact they have made.
