How To INSTANTLY Increase Your Vertical Jump With Explosive Exercises - "Jump Higher"
When you're looking to increase your vertical jump you need to be doing the right type of vertical jump training program. In order to add 3 - 5 inches on your current vertical jump you should always remember you need the proper balance between strength training and plyometric training. You also need a to work on your explosiveness in order to jump higher and dunk a basketball.
Often times basketball players, volleyball players, etc will be doing their training program and they will only focus on the jumping part of the workouts. In order to jump high, you need to be strong first! After that you could add explosive exercises to your routine.
The Workout
Up and Down Jumps (Rim Jumps) 3x6
Side to Side Lateral Jumps (Cone Jumps) 3x6
Practice dunking the basketball or jumping as high as you can until you notice a decrease in your performance
Depth Jumps 3x6
Jump Squats 2x6
Squats 3x3
Take 3 days of rest between workout days.

I'm a volleyball player and my focus is to jump higher because I'm an outside hitter. I'm not that tall I'm 5 ft 8 in and I really want to jump high. I was doing this program over the summer and it was really helping but then when I started high school season I hurt my back. I'm still hurt so do you have anything that I can do to keep my strength up that wouldn't hurt my back more????? It really sucks being hurt I've never been told that I have to sit out before and I feel like I've lost all my training. I need help.

yoo max man ! did your workouts for a week and im grabbing rim from a standing vertical ! im 5'10 and have a 92 inch reach, how long do you think ill be dunking in ? i can two hand hang on rim easily i can only squat 225 so like 1.5x my body weight .. should i continue squats ? i heard they are very good for ones' vertical

Im 6'0 feet and I can only grab the rim with one hand off one foot. How long should I do these exercises until I start seeing results? And will these exercise help my jumping off 2 feet?

Yes these exercises will help you jump higher off two feet. You should focus on improving your strength by doing heavy squats, deadlifts and lunges. At the same time practice jumping by doing plyometric exercises and you will be dunking in no time.

hello i am 14,5 years old i have started here and 3 days a strange excercise i do 3x300 ropes then i do 4x25 warm ups like you but with out weights because the doctors says that i will become 2 or 2.05 meters so i want to become taller now i am 1.84 meters and then i jump as high as i can 3x6 in how many months i will dunk?

I'm 6 feet tall and 180 lbs with 10% body fat. I have been working out for a year and I aimed to strengthen my body and increase my vertical jump. By far, I still can't grab the rim but can touch it though i can squat with 275 lbs for 6 reps. Is it related to my race? P.S. I m from Hong Kong.

There are also genetic components, fast\slow twitch muscle composition and muscle\bone insertion points which translates to torque, strength vs speed trade off. If your technique doesn't suck and are as lean as you claim, you are shit out of luck and should pick a new goal. There are good reasons various races dominate various sports. But political correctness prevents proper examination.

Hey, by equating 1.5x your body weight, do you mean that if i'm 65 kg i add a weight of around 92 via a bell or do you mean i just add the 30 kg so that it becomes 92 including body weight?

I'm a little confused by your question, but I'm a dunker and 1.5 means your body weight PLUS half your body weight IN EXTRA WEIGHT. You are only using your body as a metric, it doesn't count as the amount you should be squatting. So if I'm understanding you correctly, you should be squatting 92kg's of weight ON THE BAR. If you can squat that pretty easily, you should be focusing on plyometric exercises (if your goal is to increase your vertical) more so than heavy lifting.

Weights do not stunt your growth, but if you do not have proper form you can get injured

You are very close to dunking and with correct training I know you will be able to dunk. Focus on increasing your strength by doing squats, deadliest and lunges in low reps. Its strange for me because i was at a plateau and my vert was a mere 32 inches for a long time while i trained my legs a lot then once i stopped and just continued to straight up play basketball my vert grew to 35 inches

Yes weight training stimulates testosterone and growth hormones. You should start lifting heavy as soon as you hit puberty. Just make sure you get plenty of calories. Your vertical jump depends mostly on body fat %, genetics, then lastly technique. Genetics mostly determine your natural composition of fast\slow twitch muscle fibers, and where the muscle attaches to the bone. The deeper the insertion points the more torque, and less speed you will have. If you can jump high skinny, you will be able to when buff. If you can't, you can't.

Bodybuilding you have to stay in the rep range of 8-12, so for vertical its no more than 6?

Well typically, high rep and low weight yields results in gaining muscle mass, while low rep and high weight tends to increase muscular strength. High reps usually being 8-12 and low rep usually being 3-6

Do a lot of weighted calf raises and weighted squat jumps. I'm 5'7 and can grab rim and my vertical is still getting better. Box jumps work too but I've found that using weights makes it work faster. Another thing is jump rope. I'm also 15
