⭐⭐ If you're on PC, Wheel Rotation isn't available for controller players. ⭐⭐ Try turning your saturation to 20, though 0 may be fine if Linearity is at 50. Here's the written version of the guide (below), incase you can't understand my funky Irish accent 😄 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 F1 2021 Controller Settings Guide 🟢 Intro When you use a controller in F1 2021, you’ll have a great time, as it’s easy to drive with confidence. With a few tweaks it can be made even better, and I can help with that, so let’s get started. 🟢 The Fundamentals To adjust your controller, head to Settings and then Controls, Vibration and Force Feedback. Before we get going let’s quickly hop into the Generic Settings. The setting to look out for here is the ERS Overtake Mode. If you would rather hold the button down when deploying your battery, you can choose that here. With that set up, head back to the main screen, and edit a profile. This is where the magic happens. You’ll be presented with your current button layout. The default is fine for more players, but if you’re used to a layout from a different game, you can change that here. One thing you should try out is to unbind the Look Around commands, as we’ll use the right stick for something else. Instead, scroll all the way down to MFD Shortcuts. Assign up/down to Differential, and left/right to your Brake Bias. These are car settings you can change while you drive, and having quick access to them lets you make adjustments on the fly, without taking your other hand off the steering wheel. Once you’re happy with your layout, it’s time to unlock the potential of your controller, let’s get into it. 🟢 Setting up your Steering A racing wheel gives you detailed control of your steering, though you can also get good response from your controller with a few adjustments. In the Calibration menu you’ll see three sliders at the top for steering: your Deadzone, Linearity and Saturation. There’s also a secret fourth setting, which we’ll get to in a moment. Before we change anything, we must first get a sense for how the controller behaves, so open the Testing option and gently flick the Left Stick with your finger. If the Steering number doesn’t return to zero when the stick bounces back, you’ll need to increase your Steering Deadzone. A setting of 1 or 2 usually does the job, but if you’ve got a worn-out controller you might need to put it higher. This setting helps stop your car from wandering about on the straights when you’re not trying to turn it, so it’s an important one to get right. Next, let’s ensure you’re getting the full range of motion from your controller. Open the Test again and turn your steering all the way to the left and right. If it hits 100 on both sides, you’re good to go, but if it doesn’t you should increase your Saturation setting a little. The third setting, your Steering Linearity, is one that can make a big difference. When it’s set to zero, the input is scaled in a linear fashion, push the stick 10% and it gives you 10% steering input, push it 20% to get 20% and so-on. Increasing this will give you more control over the initial steering input, forcing you to tilt the stick more in order to get the same amount of steering, you had before. Doing this makes it harder to control the higher end of steering input however. That being said, the game does dampen controller inputs at high speed to help keep the cars under control, so it’s not a critical issue. I would recommend setting this to 50, as that gives you plenty of control over the all-important low steering ranges, letting you make minor adjustments to your steering with ease. For the fourth setting you need to back out of this menu. Head into Vibration and Force Feedback, and scroll all the way to the bottom to change Maximum Wheel Rotation. While this is a useful setting for wheel users, it’s essentially the “secret sauce” for pad players. Lowering this setting appears to take the edge off of your steering, particularly at low speed, making it easier to take tight corners like the Monaco Hairpin. For now, set it to 270 and see how it feels. It’ll take a bit of getting used to, so you may need to do a few races with it before experimenting with higher or lower values. You may also want to try it with zero Steering Linearity, as the two settings interact with each other. Right now I’m using 270, and a Linearity of 50. If you’re on PC you may not be able to change your wheel rotation on a controller, so instead I would recommend leaving your Steering Linearity at 50, and calling it a day. Our next settings are available to everyone however, helping us to drive without assists. Before that though, hit the Like Button if I’ve helped you out, and let me know what your settings look like. 🟢 Pulling the Triggers The steering was one of the most important things to get right, and as you can see it was rather complicated. Our Throttle and Brake are far simpler to take care of however, so let’s do that now. Head back into Calibration and look at the Throttle and Brake settings, they work in the same way so let’s handle them in pairs. The Deadzone setting tells the game how hard you need to pull on a trigger before it does anything to the car. Much like with the steering Deadzone, if these are above zero when you let the triggers go, the car won’t behave properly, so increase the setting until they do. Likewise, if you find your hands resting on the triggers when you’re not trying to press them, having a little Deadzone can stop you accidentally hitting the brake or accelerator, when you least expect it. For Saturation, open the Test once more and pull the triggers down all the way. If they’re hitting 100 already then great, but if they’re not then you need to increase this setting. Next, we have the Linearity Settings. By increasing these we make it easier to apply small amounts of brake or throttle, something you need to do when you’re driving without ABS, or Traction Control. In my time with F1 2021 so far, I have found that it’s much easier to drive without assists than it was in F1 2020. However, setting both of these to 50 will help most players. You don’t need as much control over the high-end as you do the low-end, and this will go a long way towards helping you switch those Assists off. Another part of the puzzle comes with your Vibration settings, so let’s jump back into that menu one more time, to complete our setup. 🟢 Feeling the Road Your Vibration and Force Feedback settings play a key role in your performance, as they help communicate what the tyres are doing, when they touch the road. Combining these settings with what we see and hear will allow us to react faster, and push our limits. The Strength setting takes care of the overall vibration level. To get the most detailed feedback from your controller, turn it all the way to maximum. Now, when you drive you will feel the left trigger vibrate when you’re about to lock the brakes, and the right trigger will do the same if you spin the rear wheels too much. The rumble motors in the controller handles will also let you know how the rear wheels are behaving. You can really feel the grip coming from the car. I’m using an Xbox Series X controller which has great triggers, however the PS5’s Haptic Triggers are even better, giving you even more control over the car. Unfortunately, most third-party controllers don’t have vibrating triggers, nor does the DualShock 4. With the Strength maximised we now have finer control over the three sliders beneath it. The titles are self-explanatory, however this isn’t a simple case of setting everything to the maximum. What you will need to try out here is the ratio between each slider, so that you get the right kinds of information from your driving. For example, you may want the on-track effects to be rather strong, but for the car to feel loose when you clip the grass. Play about with these force-feedback settings, until you find what works best on-track, for you. When it comes to Force-Feedback, it is a more complicated topic for wheel users, however I can help with that too. I have a wheel settings guide on my channel, which will help you get started for now. In the meantime, thanks for reading, and I wish you the best of luck, in your next race.

I honestly didn't get the "Maximum wheel rotation" part. In the game it says that it's "the amount of rotation in degrees the wheel will allow when going full left to full right". Increasing the value should increase the wheel rotation span, meaning higher angles and therefore easier rotation. However you explain that it's actually the opposite! Can you clarify it a little bit? Thanks and awesome video!
@PJTierney3 жыл бұрын
To be honest it's a bit of "black magic" when it comes to the controller. I initially thought it wouldn't affect controllers at all, since there's no effort in turning the stick each way. On a wheel it's meant to lock the rotation your physical wheel can do, so you feel the bump stops at the end of rotations. For some reason it works though, I really can't explain why.
@davidanderson6883 жыл бұрын

Thanks this really help me . I’ve got a quiestion ,I used the first setting u gave us that the best for right corners??

I think the 270 "secret sauce" setting I brought up should help with tighter corners, I certainly felt faster through the chicanes using it.

Does this help with turning in on hairpins? I'm playing with controller and at some point in slow left hand corners I often get a crazy understeer where I push the stick as much as possible to the left and the car keeps going with way less steering imput, costing A LOT of time. Notorious points are the hairpins at Suzuka and Abu Dhabi for example.

It should help, though your line into some corners may need adjusting.

On 270 it’s like it doesn’t want to turn at all with linearity on 50 as well. I can barely get round any corners at all when it’s like that. Anyone else having this problem.

Thanks for this guide, I’m a newbie to F1 game, thought I’d give it a try, jumped in with all assists off, yeah anyway, safe to say that was a disaster 😂😂 so gonna give this setup a try, gotta say tho, can see why people love the game, I’ve just gotta get my head around all the settings you use while driving but great vid 👍
@nathantaylor76252 жыл бұрын
Try to practice without assitsbas much as you can because then it will be built into you if your just starting. This guy also has a vid for driving with no assits🤌

I was at minimum 105 AI on last years game and now I'm struggling to get to 95 AI it's crazy. I don't have problems in low speed corners but those high speed corners like cops in Silverstone for example are impossible to do in full speed with a controller whilst the AI and wheel users are doing it easily. I tried everything but nothings working, it's so frustrating. All my time I lose there

Currently my main issue too!! Steering wheel maximum rotation isnt a setting for some reason either for me ????
@kosmodome473 жыл бұрын
@@NoLiMiT06ka yep it's the same for me, Austria is super frustrating too. The AI is way to op because they can go almost flat, a friend of mine has the same problem
@PJTierney3 жыл бұрын
One thing to potentially try out in the high speed is upping your Differential. If you mapped the right stick like I mentioned, flick it a few times before you reach Copse, then flick it back down again once you get past Stowe as you need lower Diff to exit Club.

@@NoLiMiT06ka you fixed it or still the same problems?

i have a question, i bought a new ps4 controller and i wonder why the steering is so fast and jerky... i cannot find settings to calibrate it like on f1 2020, help?
@Team2L2k3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. What do you suggest for the effects of on track, off track and rumble strip?? I’m a pad player on PS4
@PJTierney3 жыл бұрын
It's all about ratios and what information you want from the car. I like everything on maximum, and I think on PS4 at least you should definitely max On-Track effects 9since you don't have vibrating triggers). Off-Track and Rumble, up to you.

Awesome!! I always found playing F1 on a pad rather than a wheel, having better control on steering and keeping the car steady!
@carles6712 жыл бұрын
Hello! Do you think the game is better with the pad of the ps5 or xbox?
@PJTierney2 жыл бұрын
I haven't tried the PS5 pad but I hear it's quite good. If you're playing on PC however, Xbox would be a better choice as it's more compatible across all your games.

Thanks PJ, been playing F1 from the 1st on Xbox & use manual gears , ABS =off & now Traction off too. Done a few laps & yer guide to the pad settings is going to help plenty. So cheers, pedal to the metal 🏎️🏎️🏎️🏎️🏆🏆⏱️⏱️
