Story 3. OP is the real victim here. The boy stepped out into the traffic, either deliberately or carelessly, and as a result OP's life has been turned upside down. That is the reality here. It is wrong that that is not the first thought of people. Five cases against OP. Five rulings for OP. OP needs to investigate the possibility of going after those going after her for harassment and counseling fees. She should also consider the possibility of suing the parents for her bills (legal, medical) and trauma. I feel for the parents, but they have overstepping from being parents in pain to becoming grade A AHoles.

Story 3: I think no one has said this here but Op is not the one that cost the parents their house and assets but the several lawsuits, I know the medical bills could have done a dent in their finances but lawsuits take a lot of time and they probably hired an expensive lawyer that assured them they will get money each time they issued a new lawsuit and that's on them because they equally made Op pay every time he had to hire a lawyer

Honestly, if it bothers the husband that much about there being real children in need they should compromise by skipping IVF and going straight to adoption (being careful to avoid trafficking, of course, as some children being adopted-particularly internationally-are sometimes victims of trafficking). That way they don't run into the potential legal ramifications that may come from assisting with medical bills, they're using the inheritance money to help an already existing child, and they get the family they've been wanting. For OP and her husband, it's a win-win solution. It doesn't solve the medical bills for the kid, but there's no way of winning in that situation, unfortunately. This is why healthcare should either be free, or at least subsidized so it's affordable for everyone.

1st Story: NTA That was a family plot, not meant for the step mom. The step siblings are looking for a free ride, again. I don't know where OP lives, but in most states it's illegal to kick a minor child out of their home. You want it? It will cost you 10x what my dad paid for it. 2nd Story: NTA The moment mom learns that OP owns the home she is living in is the same moment she will stop paying rent. She will feel entitled to live there free. And go back to being irresponsible. It wouldn't work with me though. I have a bad bad habit of researching every place I live in. I want to know how much the property last sold for, how large acreage wise is the property, when was the dwelling built, etc... Yeah, wouldn't fly with me for a minute. 3rd Story: NTA That kid walked in front of OP's car, OP didn't swerve off the road to hit the kid. I can understand the feelings of guilt, but you don't owe a dime. There is no "moral" obligation here. The courts have ruled and said so. It's sad that this kid was injured so badly, but he's the only one at fault here. I would get an attorney for the ongoing harassment. But what they don't understand is that if OP wanted to, she could bring suit against the kid and his parents for this. He caused this to happen by his flagrant disregard to traffic laws. They could end up paying for the damage to OP's car and her trauma caused by this. 4th Story: YTA You do not spend any large amount without speaking to your spouse about it first! My husband and I had a thing if someone needed an amount of money over $100 we talked about it together. If I were OP's wife, I would have been very upset that OP hadn't of talked to me. That's a lot of money!!

Story three: I'd be asking those people who keep casting blame on the Op how much they've each donated to the kid and his parents. Also, suing people costs money, court costs, their legal council and defendant's legal fees every time they lose. How much of an effect on their financial situation has been caused, or worsened, by the five times they've sued Op? I don't think Op or her husband should pay anything into the gofundme account. I think it would open a huge can of worms.

Story 3 definitely NTA! I was hit by a car 2 years ago to this date , and it was absolutely my fault. I wasnt paying attention and walked Infront of it and it would be stupid to place the blame anywhere else and would have never expected the driver to pay a penny. (Though luckily I live in the UK)

If I don't listen to your videos when I wake up or before bed I usually save them for when I have to do chores because they make them go faster. I have a bung back and depression, so can't do things for a super extended amount of time and the length is just perfect to get things done and sometimes I can even push myself a bit more if you post two of them. Some of the things I do while I listen include: water changes for my Axolotl, cleaning, any one if my number of craft hobbies, stretching, laying on my accupressure mat and most recently I've started building a deck in my backyard. It's coming along slowly as hell, but your videos are SO incredibly helpful in getting it done. Also if I'm hanging out with a friend driving somewhere we usually put on your videos and discuss them as well!

I actually had a classmate in high school, dart across a busy road, only to be hit and killed. Messed up thing is, she did this right near a crosswalk, but decided against using it. She was 14, and that was in 1992-1993. Had she not have done this, she would have graduated in 1996, and who knows where life would have taken her.

Side thought as OP in first story didn't ask BUT the dad was as much as asshole as his second wife. He saw what was going on and did nothing. His need for "comfort" over road everything else, even his child's needs. Why didn't he intervene? Yes the kid got his money, but the kid earned it. Perhaps that was the dad's fuck you to his mistake of a wife. Most people need a good guy and now OP sees him as that good guy. Perhaps later in life OP will wake up. FYI: my experience Mark is once you pay for plots you can do as you wish with them. IF OP wanted to s/he could give it to someone else, like his/her stepmother. But why do that? I hope s/he is ready for the shit storm that will happen when he tells the step-sibs no. Bullies stay bullies and they are going to try to bully him into it. Especially if they have no money to bury the bitch..

At least in the US, burial plots can be given to others, but the ownership of the plot(s) is inherited within the family. Since the mom paid for the plots, control then passed to the husband. After he passed, it passed to the OP as the next in line from his mom. There’s a big family plot my great grandfather got for his family, but since some moved out of state and were buried elsewhere, my uncle has control now, then his son. My cousin is child free and expects to be cremated and scattered on a mountain, so my husband and I will have the option to be buried in the same plot.

Unpopular opinion but I do blame the father in the first story because despite his grief over his first wife’s death, his responsibility to his child’s upbringing should have been the first thing on his mind! You don’t check out on your kid’s safety and well-being, especially when he or she is being threatened in their own home by the people the dad brought into the home to begin with, even with the dad knowing that they had bad intentions in their hearts toward the dad and his child!

Usually control of assets like that can't go to minors since they are unable to legally own them. I'm guessing a trust & a trustee were appointed responsible for their assets before they were of legal age. It could still be the child's house but the father could have also given lifetime residency to his wife, thinking she'd take care of his child until the child was of age & could claim all their assets. If she had lifetime residency, she decides who lives there until the child is 18 & can claim their asset & move in to live with the stepmother, if they wanted to do that. (Evicting the stepmother if she has a lifetime residency would be almost impossible in some areas so the only other option is to make her want to leave on her own.) We'd need more info on the hows/whys of it but the circumstances could very well have happened exactly as outlined. It's fun being the smartest person in the room so I get why people are so eager to claim "fake" on stories but the world is a wild place & sometimes extremely weird shit happens. Idk if I'd be so quick to accuse people of faking stuff just because I'd hate to be wrong & add more shit onto someone who is genuinely asking for advice about their weird crappy situation. It costs me nothing to operate this way & this way I'm not adding fuel to someone's fire. That's where I'm at.

@@tazhienunurbusinezz1703 what you said is correct from a logical viewpoint, but the thing is that life is not logical, because of my career path I’ve seen ultra high net worth clients without a sound will even though they have the best financial advice in the world. So I’m quite sceptical how was the dad able to pull this off Too many of these reddit stories ends with counselling for the parties involved, but to tell you the truth since I’ve being to one I’m more inclined to believe the ones that don’t attend counselling, there are often too much hate in a relationship and counselling will only bring out what they dislike about it, it is a place to vent but not a place to solve the problems if the other party is defensive

I don't think OP should do this, but in some places, it's okay to stack coffins in one plot. So, bury the stepmom in the same plot above the dad. OP should tell the kids they need to buy their own family graves so they can be buried with their mom.
@ACCER
@ACCER 3 жыл бұрын
Story 1 In most places, the surviving spouse becomes the owner of the plot and can make the decisions regarding who is added to the plot. In this case, after the mom died, it fell to the father. He apparently made no changes. After he died, the now adult child is the owner of the plot. OP has spoken. OP is NTA. Plots can be expensive. They are probably just looking for a cheap place to bury her. Story 2 There is no obligation to tell his mother what he owns and doesn't own. There is no question that if she finds out that OP owns that house she will feel like she doesn't have to pay rent. They will also be less inclined to take care of it because, well "FAMILY!" OP is NTA. Story 3 OP is not responsible and is the real victim here. The teenager made a stupid choice that impacted the life of OP. OP is NTA.....but needs to tell their attorney about the harassment. I've been in a similar situation. Only in my case the other party died. It was a nightmare that someone else caused. Thankfully, I won. Don't do it OP....but get your husband some therapy. Story 4 OP is absolutely the asshole for making a unilateral decision without consulting his wife....you know, the OTHER PERSON contributing to the fund. You just DON'T DO THAT! Hell, you don't even do that if you are the only one contributing to the fund. If his wife had unilaterally decided to spend that $5k on something without consulting him.....how would he feel? As for how I would handle it? I would be opening my own savings account and never again contribute to a joint one with him......

Story 3: I had some kids try this with me before. At my old job I had to pass a school to go to work . The kids liked to do this expecting you to stop. Sometimes they would look back smuggly at you like you better stop. It infuriated me. Even though it was the shortest way to work I started avoiding it because I was afraid I would hit them one time. It got even worse because out here kids walk in the street during the snow because the sidewalks aren’t plowed. The kids would sometimes sometimes take up the whole road because it was plowed. I always thought eventually they luck gonna run out when the street isn’t all the way plowed.

Story #2 Not letting mother know that son owns the house she's renting, is the perfect way to handle the situation. The person who bought it has to change that. When my friends mom was buried they put her in her husband plot. So when he was buried he ended up where was his wife supposed to go. Lol.
