1. So, dying person leaves everything to their twin and the rest of the family doesn't say "oh my god i am sorry you are dying is there anything i can do to help". No, they say "how dare you leave money to you twin". Of course a twin favors their twin. Do people not understand twins? What a carpy family i would nake sure they get nothing.

No need to be jealous! I have reached a point in my life (34) where I don't remember every episode. Case in point Kyoshi Island and Suki were in book 1 and I forgot until watching it again. We finished book 1 and will start book 2 in a couple weeks when I get time off again. 3rd story: NTA, misogyny goes both ways. My dad works at a quite demanding job. He tried to ask for his (by contract, entitled to) 2 weeks vacation sooner than he normally did because my mom was sick and is high risk, also the c virus. He was told he couldn't because some female coworkers had already asked for it and they had more rights to it because, even if they worked less (2 hours less per shift and no extra hours) they are mothers and women, and they have to be with their families.

What a lot of people missed on Story 3 is that the mother was flat-out being ungrateful. It's not as if she brought up allergies or other sensitivities. She wasn't even giving constructive criticism. Last story: See, the problem with this- and I suspected this when he brought up "spicy onions"- is not that he can't handle spice. He can't handle *flavor.* And believe me, bud. It is very easy to make meals without flavor. He is more than capable of making some of those for himself. Edit: It turns out the story is fake. I checked the site for additional comments, and it was posted by a south asian girl trying to spread awareness for the way some people treat their spouses. On the one hand, it's an honorable cause; on the other hand, I feel a bit silly for getting duped. ^^; Though I suppose I can turn this into a PSA? Don't be afraid of a little flavor in your food guys. Sometimes an intense smell can put you off, but give it a shot. Even if you need to dab it down with rice, bread, etc. You might find something you like!
@addisonmadison5989
@addisonmadison5989 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for that clarification. Not surprised it's fake, although I honestly have real European friends who think putting both onions and an herb, such as parsley, in a dish is "too spicy." I'm Caribbean and that's barely starting. The whole thing about eyes watering from the onion seemed farfetched and if my German friend didn't tell me about her aversion I wouldn't have believed the story.

I looked up spicy onions and recipes for them include chili powder, which has hot spices. Dammit, we need a separate word for hot spice so people don't think I mean things like parsley or cinnamon when I say I don't like spicy food. I like those spices.

@Nyanx4 3 жыл бұрын
@@sarahshock6805 But cinnamon _is_ spicy. It's just also sweet and often used in dishes where there's either fat or sugar to cut its taste down. Not to mention it's used in moderation. I feel like a lot of people have this perception of spicy food that it's supposed to make your eyes water, your fists clench, and summons uncles to be cried for and a bucket to retch it back into. And I don't think that's at all warranted- and so people avoid any kind of spice or pungent flavor like the plague. I totally get when it's a medical issue, like for people with IBS- but that's like decrying all meals that use honey because some people are allergic to it, you know?

I know there are reddit stories where one twin is cruel to the other, but as I witness my children's bond, it surpasses words. They worry for each other, look out for each other, care for each other. Most couples, even with a history of infertility, don't look into urns during pregnancy. In fact, I've never heard of anyone doing this; this husband is absolutely in need of therapy! 3. Cooking isn't woman's work; it's an essential life skill! Can we talk about how internalized misandry sucks about as much as internalized misogyny? 4. Lunumiris on kiribath isn't as spicy as OP's making them out to be; it's basically a Sri Lankan equivalent of chili on rice. If OP expects his wife to cook that, two more dishes and be a surgeon on top of that, he needs to take a look in the mirror and see if he's the abusive one.

Last Story: Commenters made great points but something was missed IMHO. The twins were imitating their father's reaction. Being young boys they are looking up to their father on how to react. Daddy didn't like it and thought it was too spicy and LEFT THE FUCKING HOUSE to escape it. Obviously the boys would think it's too spicy with that sort of reaction from the other parent. OP is the AH b/c he has taught the boys this behaviour by refusing to eat his wife's cooking. The appropriate response would be to give them a glass of milk and some yogurt as a side and encourage them to keep eating. The reason they didn't like the dish wasn't b/c it was spicy. They didn't like it b/c of OP being a drama queen.

While I'm sure he appreciates what she is leaving he would much rather that his twin sister was healthy and would still be here for years to come. They convinced the mother to make the spicy food. They know the food is spicy.l because their mother always makes it. Even if they don't eat it they have had it before that is why they don't eat it. So they know how spicy it is. Why you going to ask me to make you spicy food that you know it is spicy and then when you eat it and see that it is spicy, you tell me make something else? That's hella rude and you wasted the mothers time and energy. I swear if they were living in a black or latino house hold the mother would say the same thing. They lucky they didn't get an ass whooping for being so disrespectful.😤😤

Story 4: As a person who don't like spicy food either, I get where OP is coming from. The rest of my family like spicy food though, so whenever we make some, they usually make it a bit milder than they would like and I put things in to make it even milder, if its' too spicy for me. Other times, they add the spices to their own portions. OP is the A for calling his wife abusive, but instead of cooking two to three seperate meals each evening, they should maybe try thinking on how to make the food something everyone can eat, But if OP can't eat onions or salt or pepper, he needs to work on something, besides cooking more.

I'm so proud of how you've rebuilt after the rebrand. :') I know how a hiatus for any reason can really burn through your subs, even more so your patrons. While I'm listening to the video, I'm tearing apart my entire house and even going through the bin to try and find the $300 proximity car key that's disappeared into thin air. No luck the past 2 days but I don't have $300 to pay as an idiot tax. So imma keep looking and listening to your AITA Playlist. S1 NTA. It's OP's money, she can do what she wants with it. I can't fathom having the brass balls big enough to treat someone like garbage and then demand all their earthly possessions from them on their death bed. My late grandmother said she wanted me to have her jewelry (all real gems and metals) and her gorgeous, heirloom jewelry chest. It's mine. But I would NEVER ask for it before my grandpa who I'm very close with was ready to let it go (he's not yet, and that's ok). S2 NAH. He DOES need therapy, but OP also needs protect herself and her baby. He's terrified to hope because if he expects loss, the shock won't hurt as much. His own panic at the prospect of another loss makes it physically impossible for him to calm down without some really REALLY hard therapy. I'm so sorry for both of them. S3 NTA. I also grew up in an ultra religious household that pushed traditional gender roles. Once I hit puberty, I no longer fit in the traditional female role in ANY way. All of my traditionally masculine interests were sneered at. Congrats on the functional table and the r/maliciouscompliance! She's definitely a misogynist. S4 YTA. They "convinced her" to let them try it, which means they wanted to try it!! She didn't force them! She's totally right (except the racist comment). If you can't handle the food she makes, make your own damn food. If you can't handle onions, ONIONS, you have an extremely limited pallet. OP is a picky eater and demanding his wife, who works her ass off in an extremely high stress job with one of the highest suicide rates in the country explicitly due to that stress, come home, cook multiple dishes for one single family sit down, and then rage at her when the sons don't like the food they demanded to try. I'd wager he also makes her do all the dishes she had to use to make that many hot meals. A very fair rule in my house was always "you cook, you don't clean." Gets the kids cooking and makes it so one single person isn't stuck with 2 hours cooking and at least another hour cleaning. Gtf off reddit, fall at wifey's feet and BEG for forgiveness, and take over meals for the three of you picky brats entirely. Forever. ETA about the cooking gender roles: Women belong in the kitchen. Men belong in the kitchen. Everyone belongs in the kitchen. Kitchen has food.

Don't know why OP doesn't cook or why the wife won't modify the food so everyone can eat it but it seems like there's more than just a food problem. OP mentioned the parents talking to the wife about OP accepting their culture but what about her (and them) accepting his? My dad was from a different country. My mom learned how to cook some of his culture's food. We didn't strictly have his food but a variety of both cultures...and they both cooked.

For the last story NTA. It's not like they are picky eater and won't eat her food because they don't like it. They CAN'T eat it because its too hot. And she knows this. So instead of cooking one meal everybody can eat she CHOOSE to make an extra meal for herself and her daughter. It's like cooking everything with peanuts for someone who is allergic to them and than complaining that you always have to cook an extra meal for them. And than she is blowing up because it's too much work. She can even cook one meal and add spices to her dish afterwards so she can eat hot . There are many hot sauces you can add to make your meal spicy afterwards. Should he cook if she had a long day at work, sure, but making everything too spicy for the family to eat has nothing to do with culture.

My baby bro was multiply disabled, so my mom was a stay home mother. His care would have been crippling expensive otherwise. But this meant mom cooked all the meals. She NEVER cooked a second meal, if we hated what was made, we went to bed hungry. I think I was allowed to make myself a pbj maybe twice in 15 years as a meal replacement. She also made me pack my own lunches every single day, starting right after my 6th birthday. I came home from the first day of first grade and told her what was wrong with my lunch. The next morning she taught me to make pbj and pack a lunch and that was that. I could add things to the grocery list (within reason!) but I had to pack them or go hungry.

First story absolutely NTA. They never treated OP and her brother fairly, and now they reap what they sow. They never did anything to deserve that money or your effort. As for the leave a dollar thing, from what I understand that doesn't actually help make a will uncontestable. It can actually hurt that case by showing that the deceased acknowledged them as important enough in their life to remember them and leave them something in their will. If there is no mention of them, it can be argued that the person was so distanced from the deceased that they didn't even consider them when making the will. Some people really are terrible with it and it can also be inherted or maybe a body malfunction. But most people just need to start small and see the sensation as nice instead of being told it hurts. It is also a "threshold" that can go down if you dont eat spicy food often. But because of my familly I've been thaught the feeling in your mouth is a challenge, fun, warm, good for the body to sweat it out, fighting your demons/being strong lol So start small and build it up. Also onions smell spicy but should be while eating when it's not raw -_-

I opened two more tabs and googled both dishes. It's a combo dish of rice made with coconut milk instead of water and a sauce that has onions, garlic, lime juice, fish, and crushed red pepper. So what's stopping the husband and the boys from putting just a little bit of the sauce on a lot of the rice cooked with coconut milk? Its served separately, so everyone can put as much of the spicy stuff on their rice as they choose. Just a little bit for the boys and Dad and daughter and Mom can ladle that stuff on. My own family did that with beans and cornbread. Some like more cornbread than beans and others liked more beans than cornbread, some wanted vinegar added to their beans and some didn't. There were a lot of variations.

We have a joke in my country about Ashkenazis (European Jews) burning their mouths if there's too much pepper (as in peppercorn, not spicy peppers) and the onion comment made me think of that. My boyfriend and his family tease me because I'm Ashkenazi and they're Moroccan so my spice tolerance is lower than theirs. My brother also married a Korean woman and he gets the same jokes directed at him. I totally understand the wife. When the boys complained about how spicy the food was why didn't OP offer to cook them something else? Why did they turn to her??

1st story: Op could look into transferring monies to her twin while still able to do so; she could go ahead and pay off his student loans now, so that money isn't subjected to probate and inheritance laws. Add his name to her accounts, giving him co-ownership. Definitely speak with a probate lawyer as soon as possible. Totally NTA. Last story: I'm going against the flow here. Op's with may cook as a distress reliever. If she enjoys cooking, which it sounds like she does, it may be her choice-we really don't know. With the 7 yr old boys wanting to try the meal, and her attitude about her culture, and her daughter being 12 (her palate may have developed well enough to truly enjoy spicy foods), but I'm wondering if she might have made the food spicier than normal. And while onions aren't a spice, they are used to enhance flavour, it sounded to me li k e there was a lot of raw onion in it. I love onion, but I can't eat raw onion anymore. I was never able to cope with lots of raw onion. And 7 is really young. If the boys turned to her for something else, rather than snapping at them, she could have said she was really exhausted and suggest they have dad feed them. I think both Op and his spouse have a lot more going on than we know about, so my vote is both adults suck here. They need to speak to a therapist/counselor to work out their differences and better define what they each need from their marriage. The story of the high risk pregnancy, I think she needs to talk with her OB about what her husband is saying/doing, explain the stress it's causing and ask for back up. Doctor should have the right to refuse the husband's attendance based on negative effect on Op's pregnancy. Op is NTA.

Story 2: I live in the US and have never heard of that mandate (or whatever) that says the father can't be there. I do know that if she doesn't want her husband at the appointments, then they won't let him in there.

Unless your spouse (husband or wife) allows you to be there the Dr will make them leave the room even for just a checkup. After my daughter turned 18 the Dr asked her if she wanted me to be in the room. At one point she did want to talk to the Dr alone easier for her to be open and not embarrassed about anything. So she had me leave then came back after. Also when my son had to do his checkup he asked me to leave just for a minute. The nurse stayed, everything got checked then I came back in. If I call our insurance that I am primary on to ask about my hubby or my kids over 18 they will not answer any questions. Not even did you REALLY charge us $400 per ace bandage (had 4) when he wore the walking cast out that he wore in from the ER.

I don't understand the whole fighting over inheritance thing I always found it disgusting to watch family fight like that when someone died... I literally hated everyone when my grandfather died I was so heart broken and he wasn't even cold yet when the fighting started it was horrible he deserved so much better.
