Even though i'm an introvert, I feel like we are truly social creatures. Solitude is enjoyable when you know it is not 'forever' and that there are friends and family you can spend time with when you want. A sense of belonging is important. Connection.
@margaritakleinman5701 Жыл бұрын
Totally agree with you. I think it's all about balance. We need our social time and we also need our valuable alone time. Both are necessary!
@driftersky Жыл бұрын
Exactly! Solitude is only enjoyable when you know it's not forever, but when you don't have friends, or only be able to meet a friend once in a few months, enjoyable solitude has become extreme loneliness. That is my case. To me, this monk hasn't really experienced true loneliness and try to teach people about how to face loneliness.

My sister has tonnes of friends. All friends she met in primary school, senior school, college, work etc are still close friends of her. I never had large cliques of friends. I always had a few close friends. And my friends walked away from my time to time. My mother ridiculed me since I was a kid, that I'm so friendless. Meanwhile, my sister was admired for having so many friends. She said that if trouble comes, there'll be no one to help me. However I have survived to be 39 now. In this country, people always do things in large groups. Solitary people like me are looked upon as failures. We are made to feel as if we were failures. But we are only being ourselves, responding to how others treat us, our way. That's all. Thank you for this video and for the confirmation that being solitary is a good thing too.

This is one message I need for my whole life. Being an introvert, I often feel lonely. I use to think its because of me, my attitude, my way of thinking, and also because I can't stand small talks. But the truth is everyone is different and unique in their own way, you can only be you, not someone else. If this is how you're meant to be than that's how you will. Loneliness is beautiful only if you look at it in a way for you to be you yourself. Turning inwards ❤️. Thanks for this 🙏

I lost my mom recently and now I have no one. We faced many traumas and tragedies together. She was my everything. Lost dad to cancer when I was little. Relatives abandoned ship a long time ago. Solitude is important and at times one can stay alone too for long periods but being alone i e not having anyone in the world to call your own is very scary. I'm constantly afraid and feel unable to go on.

Solitude is a very important component to become happy. Otherwise you become like a rat running around a maze. I have bought hundreds of books which fill up my mind. I haven't turned on the TV for three months. Each person is different but whether you are an introvert or an extrovert you need a certain amount of solitude to grow and also become less lonely. Filter out the noise in your life and you feel invigorated. Buddha was the greatest example of using solitude to attain Nibbana (nirvana). This young monk speaks so much wisdom and provides such clarity in how he expresses the profound truths of Buddhas teachings.

Great ….to learn that loneliness is good. What you said it makes sense to us. I always think Buddha is a great philosopher. I love to practice meditation but not so often.

Thank you! Since my mother passed away in February 25, 2022 I was lost, sad, and lonely internally. Some time I do feel uncertain, but I have done things to better myself. I have went to couple churches, but it didn't work out. For few days, I have thought about putting my faith and learn about Buddhism. In fact, I went to a local temple even though no one was there, I sat down and talked to Buddha outside to help give me some good spirits and I felt somewhat relieved. I'm planning on visiting again.

loving your own company is not a bad thing and i think it's the best thing one can do because in this world no one is permanent u r the only one who's gonna be with urself so why don't spend time with urself. Solitude is nothing to be worried about in fact people are afraid and jealous of people who can enjoy their own company and don't need anyone to make them happy. No one is powerful than people who love being alone so we should learn to celebrate solitude because inner peace can come with this only nd no one knows u better than urself...

I do all of the above things you recommend daily. I am in good physical condition, have no health problems, and find that meditation, prayer, reading the Bible, drawing, writing, painting, reading and walking 5 miles a day, maintaining my home, not looking forward to landscaping my front lawn, cooking and preparing healthy foods certainly keeps me busy. I know that I would like to live in a more private area, so that I can paint landscapes in front of me, which I loved in New Mexico. I am a playful person and enjoy artistic people who are also playfully creative, productive and enjoy their lives. I would like to share a life with an honest, caring partner. You do get to know yourself by yourself. Thank you for this video.

I love being alone, most of the time. But sometimes my mind wanders about things that it shouldn't. I'm not a smart person, but about some things I'm a genius. Things I wish I didn't. When I do Yoga, I feel amazing afterwards and I don't get distracted as much, or at all even. Meditation helps too. And a workout at the gym as well. I'm autistic, but that does not mean I don't like to be social. I love time with friends. I just have a long charge up time before I can see them again. Even so, sometimes when i'm alone, i feel lonely. That is normal. When I have these moments I will think about what you said and make my time more valuable for me. I should love the time I have alone. I wouldn't say that I'm a buddhist, but my faith lies close to it and I love buddhism. Thank you for your information.

I have broken out of loneliness by spending time with the Lord, Jesus Christ, everyday. The same way I eat everyday I spend time reading the Holy Bible and praising God everyday. Renewing my mind to the word of God. Also, serving in my local church helps too.

Sometimes I think if I was much better looking, there would be more social opportunities, and it makes me sad there aren't more social opportunities for someone like myself. Thank you for this positive perspective on time spent alone. It's more time for positive actions like meditation and meditative activities like painting. Again, thank you.

Aloneness more or less similar to solitude, that is what I felt. However, being alone or being solitude not necessarily mean you are happy with yourself while thinking of the monks inside forest and monasteries for years and gain nothing. Eternal happiness is the status of NO MIND in MIND. It is you are not clinging into your feelings /emotions but remain as a WITNESS.

Conclusion: 0:00-3:40 1. When we are with others, we are happy. But when we are not, we feel sad. 2. Loneliness is when you depend the happiness from others. 3. Solitude is when you find a happiness within yourself. Without depending on others. 3:40 - 4:50 4. Think about being alone more positively -you have more time for yourself. -you have freedom: can think and reflect about urself, meditation, check ur health and do actions to improve it, self-development and improve urself. -use that time to do good things to urself. When u know u use that time to do good things to urself, u will feel happy and positive about yourself. No more sadness. 4:50 - 7:15 5. Buddha be alone in jungle: Being alone is pain❌ Being alone is to have time with myself. Have freedom. So, I can do meditation freely with no one to think about and disrupt me✅ 6. Use that time to create a better life or do the daily routines. -workout -go out for a walk -be with nature -read book -learn something new 7. If people come, let they come. If they go away from you, let go. -learn to be with yourself without needing others. Learn to spend a time with yourself being alone. Do good things to yourself instead of thinking it as a pain.

Thank you so much for giving me advice to make me be able to change my perspective about loneliness. I am a student who just graduated from high school and I'm gonna go to study in university in 6 months. I'm lonely and sad to be unable to meet my friends in high school again because universities where we're gonna go are not the same place and I have nothing to do.But when I have met this video clip it has changed my perspective about my feelings and it has given me advice to spend my own time to develop myself and do something beneficial for me. Thank you for making some very great video clips of dhamma to eliminate suffering for people.😊😊😊
