I'm crying. My dad has been gone for years. I am honestly just able to selfishly miss him. I spent years angry. He was only 65, when he died in his sleep. It was so unfair. To him. Finally able to rest, and enjoy grandkids and fishing. Pet his cows. Pick his fruit. Play poker with his buddies. Not fair. But, we loved each other, shared our secrets, even when it was hard, and I wish he was sitting with me now, having a cold beer, and talking about stars, or oceans, or mountains. Merry Christmas, and happy holidays, everyone.

This one still makes my allergies act up. It first became a hit when I was in early grade school, and I had just lost my great-grandma, whom I was extremely close to, and I stayed with her sometimes. And when I did, I treasured every minute of it. Literally every minute. She was so old that she had come across Kansas in a covered wagon when she was 6 years old. She had lots of stories to tell me, And lots of little lessons to patiently teach me. 😢❤ Then I hear this song on the radio, I smell the scent of lavender, smell the scent of really old polished wood, and I hear her caring voice, and I would lose it every single time this came on. And I learned how to play it on the guitar in the piano and sing it myself, but it's just so powerful.

Such a touching song! David Gates wrote this song in memory of his father who died in 1963 & never saw the success he achieved with Bread. Love David Gates voice. He has one of the most soothing & mellow voices. They had so many hits such as "If", "Make It With You", "Baby I'm-a Want You", "Lost Without Your Love", "It Don't Matter To Me", "The Guitar Man", "Sweet Surrender", "Aubrey", "Diary" etc. In 1978, Gates enjoyed success as a solo artist with the hit singles "Goodbye Girl" (from the movie The Goodbye Girl) & "Took The Last Train".

I was more into the Rock stuff at that age but I will say that a couple of their songs really got to me. This being one of them. It reminds me of my great grandma who really took care of me and I still sometimes have dreams about her, or I can smell her lavender smell and for comforting presence but she's also really Stern because she's from the late 1800s. She survived all kinds of crazy stuff. In any way I think about her when I think about this song. But of course it can apply to anything that you really care about.

Strange. I was just thinking about my dead. So many. And I'm not old. I'm not even 60 yet. Kids, when I was young, from suicide, or overdose, or crashes. Alcoholics. Heart attacks. The list seems endless. They,(family, doctors) tell me I have PTSD. Depression. I think thats bullshit. What are they thinking? Roses and sunshine? In my case, i just want to cry once in a while, because they deserve it, and its all I can give.

Shon... this was is and will always be my fav of there's. But anyone of there songs will knock you over there all beautiful. There's The Guitar Man, If, Make It With You, Baby I'm-a Want You, Lost Without Your Love, It Don't Matter To Me, Sweet Surrender, Aubrey, Diary... I'll give you one from someone else that might just put a smile on your face. Its by Carole King called Jazzman the saxophone will melt you. As for losing people... glad you haven't as of yet may that not come for you for a very long long time. For me it came all too soon... I was 3 when the only real family I have ever had died. It was my Grandma and to this day shes the only one who ever made me truly feel loved in this life I cried everyday and night for her for the next 21 years of my life no lie begged the Lord to take me to her everyday. At the age of 3 I also witnessed a young man get murdered too. After that it was most of my family on both sides then in 98 it was my Father. In 2019 I watched as the doctors killed my Mother, 2 years ago it was my baby cousin, after him it was more people I knew... in 2016 2 men I loved, one was my man, who died... I nearly went up after my man the Lord Himself had to stop me. You die with those you love when they die it takes every bit of strength to hang on and not to lose both your mind and life along with them. There's pretty much no one left in my life. My Dad was only 61 when he died and in 2 months I'll be 61 I have the same medical problems that killed him... I wonder how much time I have left myself. That's ok though I'll be going home to the Lord and that's all that matters. Have a wonderful Christmas hon. Peace.
