KISS was the very first band, celebrity (or anyone for that matter) that understood the true concept of the modern "Brand". They WERE those personas at all times in public and truly understood merchandising. Gene was an absolute genius in that regard

1970's KISS had the magic, that's for sure. I love watching their concert footage, but this is also a GREAT studio track. I mean, the studio version KILLS. It's the opening track on their Love Gun album and it's a monster. In concert, you can't really hear the drummer's fills or his floor tom work, but you can on the studio album version. I really like his use of the floor and rack toms on the studio track. It races along, that's for sure, so it's a short song and well worth a quick listen. It's also one of the fastest solos their lead guitarist plays. He's usually a melodic player--really good solos that aren't high in difficulty but are definitely very listenable/memorable/hummable and have great structure, but he's really moving on this particular solo. Great song and great job! I enjoy the technical breakdown, which you provide, of what the drummer is doing.

Twice with makeup once without and when they dress up they're freaking huge with their platforms. I want to Rock and Roll all night in you haven't done it yet. I kn🎉it seems like I've seen a lot of artists or band's it's because I have all I ever did was save money and go to concerts. I've seen at least 60 different acts but I'd have to sit down and write them all out cause there's so many. Seton Hill Studios: This was the Kiss tour and album that made them the top act in the world. When the album was released though, this opening track was considered too ‘hard’ for a radio hit. So they chose the 50s early-rock, doowop inspired “Christine Sixteen” as the single. And it was a hit. Nowadays people unfortunately (stupidly) consider it “creepy” and say the lyrics are about a ‘predator’. Those interpretations clearly have no clue about the references to early ‘teenage rock’ songs from the fifties Gene was referring to and paying tribute to. I still recommend Gene’s ‘Kiss Solo Album’ cover of “When You Wish Upon A Star” from the 1940 Disney ‘Pinocchio’. You will NEVER see Gene as a monster, demon again!

Not trying p#ss in your pocket mate but I love your channel. I love the way you explain things, break things down and acknowledge things for what they are. Your reaction to KISS songs blow me away. Being a KISS fan from the 70s I have head so much hate for the band p, the songs, the performances, the whole bit. We all have. To have an open and honest mind like you have is very refreshing. Now I don’t like EVERY song they have released. I don’t blindly like every album they have released either. But they are my fave band by far. If you look at these songs and you call them bangers, well imagine what it was like growing up in the seventies as a teen and getting hooked on KISS. Add to that the mystery of who they were. We didn’t know. The magic was awesome. We looked at them like they were gods, each person being so different. Ace and Peter brought so much to the band as did Paul and Gene. It was incredible times that cannot be really understood unless you lived it. Sure they had haters, but ppl can like what they want. But so many of us were hooked, and gladly so. Everything to us was awesome. Loving the real reactions. You4 channel is a blessing. You are an honest person that is helping myself and so many others understand so much about the composition of the music. Thank you.

Dang it. I keep showing up for these Kiss videos and people are gonna talk. But once in a while, they hit it on the head and this is one of those times. I haven't heard this in ages, and it strikes me as sounding very Deep Purple-y. I'm always interested to hear your critique of Criss' drumming, as i've been reading for years from different sources that he was, to be kind, a poor player. I'm Roger Taylor/Danny Carey guy, so what do I know? I'd like to know that he's better than advertised. Love your channel!

Steve talks about Peter's drumming on some vids, and he's not out to trash anyone. My question is: do you like his drumming? I do. In fact, Peter Criss gave me my first love for drumming. I understand the criticism, most of which deals with points that just don't resonate with me. I like what Criss ~does~ more than I care about what he ~doesn't~ do. (edit: to be clear, when I ask if you like Peter's playing, what I mean is: if you like it, great! If you don't, that's cool. Will someone else's opinion change how the music affects you when you listen?)

I'll try to help you out, brother. If you look to the right and see all the recommended videos for you, you'll notice the three dots next to each video. When you click on them you'll have a bunch of options. Click on the word, SHARE. A box will pop up with the link in it. It'll show you crap up top about email and stuff. Ignore that. To the right of the link hit the COPY button. Those same dots will appear next to each vid if you do a search for your song and all the choices pop up. Once you hit the COPY button, that link will be saved for you until you copy another link down the road. Now that you have the linked COPIED, go back to the comment section and start a comment. Then when you wanna attach the link, hit the right button on your mouse - more choices will pop up - then hit the PASTE button and the last link you copied will appear in the comment. If you open the video that you wanna share, right below the video there is a SHARE button. Hit that button and the same screen will show up for you to COPY the link. And then when you're in a comment, hit the right button of your mouse and hit PASTE. It's called, copy and paste. I hope this helps.

Two things I find it interesting people that are new to kiss music when they start listening to them they realize how talented they are What is sad is people that listen to kiss for decades and still speak the whole concept of what the cool person at school says about the band that they're not talented and they still regurgitate that to this day. Kiss is unbelievably talented and it's really hard to write all of the songs that they were able to pull out and I think kisses best songs are none of the popular songs

The Alive II version of 'I Stole Your Love' is my favorite KISS song by a mile. The song wouldve been a monster hit for them had the studio version been more like the Alive II version. I cant listen to the studio version tbh lol. And everybody likes either Ace, Gene or Peter. My favorite member has always been Paul Stanley. Hes the whole show live. Hes on another level as a showman. I dont really give a damn what he says in books, or what je thinks about the other members, how he spends his personal time, or what he feels about certain things. I dont ask much of bands i love, just music. Ill probably never meet them anyway, so they can be dickheads and ill still listen. The guy flipping my hamburger doesnt have to be a person that agrees with me on everthing, loves his/her coworkers, or considered to be a great person. If he can manage to not burn my burger, and hold the onions, its all good lol. Also, on a side note, I was told once that, "If you like KISS, youll really love RATT. Their live show is as good as KISS. Maybe better." But....while RATT puts on one helluva live show, ive not seen a band to date that gives you even HALF of what KISS gives you for your money. I dont care that people say they were just a gimic band. All i know is that i HEARD thier music long before i ever SAW what they look like. I think that says enough. KISS's music holds its own. Also, when people say they arent particularly good musicians, im amazed. I think this critique goes back to comments Gene himself made. Hes never given himself or the band enough credit as musicians. Its not easy doing what Paul Stanley does while singing. Peter Criss is probably the weakest link in the band. I know eddie kramer and bob ezrin have often said that Criss just wasnt capable of the level of play they were looking for on some of the later albums. As for me, when it comes to percussion, "simple" is in no way synonymous with "bad". Although, he WAS somewhat of a lazy drummer. But him calling himself "jazz oriented" on multiple occasions probably doesnt help his case lol; as Criss likely couldnt keep up with even a really good amateur jazz-inflicted drummer. But i digress .....he was good enough. And i dont think his own drum tracks being on Dynasty and Destroyer wouldve dipped those album sales any at all. Maybe they arent technical players, but not just anyone can play the types of basslines that Gene Simmons plays WHILE SINGING. Also, Im in somewhat of a position to have a worthwhile opinion on their musicianship, as im a classically trained guitar player. But anyhow.... I still have a cd player in my car. KISS Rock And Roll Over is in it right now. Its been in there for a month maybe. I think ill go with The Elder next. (j/k lol)😂😂😂. Im not so big a fan as to insist they have never made a shitty album. In fact, IMO The Elder is probably the worst album out of all the albums ever put out by all the bands i love. Its awful lol. Anyways.....sorry for babbling. If youve read enough of my comment to get to this point, youre either a real trooper, or a glutton for punishment lol. Sorry, I just like to talk about music. Great video brother.

Haha 😂 No worries! I appreciate you taking the time out to chat! I’ve been on quite the KISS journey this year if you haven’t been following! Start with my video of “She” on the Midnight Special and then look at my playlist “KISS” on my homepage! I used to think they were ok but since doing a deep dive I’ve loved their sound!! Have a great one!! 😁🤘🏻

Great reaction as always! You couldn´t see this in the footage, but Paul and Ace shared the guitar solo. First part Paul and then Ace. The song is the opener from the album "Love gun". If you want to have a dip into "Heavy Metal KISS" I can suggest the following songs: KISS live at Maracana Stadium, Rio de Janeiro 1983 with Eric Carr (drums) and Vinnie Vincent (lead guitar) -> "Creatures of the Night", "I love it loud", "War Maschine". Biggest KISS show ever in front over 140.000 people -> kzbin.info/www/bejne/pV6vd2CFfceri9E&start_radio=1 KISS live at the TV show "Fridays" 1981 with Eric Carr (drums) -> "The Oath" from the concept album "The Elder" -> kzbin.info/www/bejne/jHKsf5qErrFgbdk KISS live in Detroit, Cobo Hall 1984 with Eric Carr (drums & vocals) and Bruce Kulick (lead guitar) -> "Young and Wasted" -> kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJfQZIqheMxmmNE KISS live in Ipswich, England 1984 with Eric Carr (drums) and Bruce Kulick (lead guitar) -> "I've Had Enough (Into The Fire)", unfortunatly no video, but great audio -> kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZ3ZeoOmYt-da68 Let`s goooo

One of the things Kiss held over the biggest bands of the 70's was that they killed it live every time they took the stage... Even if Ace Frehley (lead guitar) or Peter Criss (drums) were struggling w/ substance abuse, Paul Stanley (vocals/ guitar) and Gene Simmons (vocals/ bass) always brought their top game on tour... Even Led Zeppelin had nights where they were rickety onstage - and they were the biggest band in the 70's... Aerosmith were so messed up by 1977 that they were a mess onstage... Black Sabbath was the heaviest band in the decade and they were struggling by 1976 (The same year Deep Purple had split up) U had bands like Blue Oyster Cult, Queen, Heart, Sammy Hagar (solo), Rainbow, Lynyrd Skynyrd, AC/DC, Grand Funk Railroad, etc. who had great live reputations... but no one could come close to the show or impact that Kiss made in the 70's decade. Coming in from another platinum album 'Love Gun' in 1977 and Kiss were selling out arenas worldwide... That was truly the original band's peak years. Then, came the Kiss solo albums in 1978... followed by a disco album 'Dynasty' in 1979... Little kids and families were coming to see Kiss in concert in 1979 and rock fans left the band in droves... it was the first time in years that they couldn't sell out a massive tour. Peter Criss was playing so poorly that he wasn't playing in the studio anymore and his live performances were falling on their 1979 tour that he was forced out by early 1980. Kiss 'Unmasked' album in 1980 was another rickety disco album and it fared poorly, even as Eric Carr (drums) joined Kiss, assumed the 'Fox' persona, re-energized the band on tour. And then Ace Frehley quit the band by 1982... after the disastrous 'Music from the Elder' concept album in 1981. Even without Ace Frehley, Kiss delivered the heaviest album of their career - 'Creatures of the night' in 1982... but no one was listening. Kiss was a 70's relic w/ makeup that did not belong in the 80's decade... and w/ lead guitarist Vinnie Vincent, the album's tour was a disaster... the record barely sold gold in the US. It's strange to realize that all Kiss needed was an image makeover and a reintroduction to the public... In 1983, they recorded a strong album 'Lick it up'... and decided to take off the makeup on MTV and announce a new album & tour... by a new Kiss. And it worked! Apparently, 'Lick it up' sold triple the numbers of 'Creatures of the night'... Fans were eager to see the 'new' Kiss without makeup... and shows began selling out again and the record went platinum in the US.

Check this band from Japan that is in some ways like KISS. But then again, maybe not SEIKIMA-II! From the 80's.

"Guit-tar!" Darn, doesn't say it in this performance. Sure, may be easy to play, but great music isn't determined only by complexity... else, all those sideline critics would be bigger than Kiss...

Another awesome reaction! For the final tour when the original four were together, definitely worth Detroit Rock City, LIVE in East Rutherford 2000 kzbin.info/www/bejne/f6XbZmiMabVofpIsi=wTCXc_kJRGFeu51r kzbin.info/www/bejne/f6XbZmiMabVofpIsi=wTCXc_kJRGFeu51r
