Oh Man, I owned one of those R's years ago. My favourite story was my wife borrowed it one time for a long trip, she said she was rolling along listening to music and thought she was going about 70 but when she looked down she was going 130! Smooth car, loved driving it, hated owning it. Wish I had your mechanical skills back then. Enjoy that thing, and wait till you drop it into sport mode and hit a big wide sweeper turn! Amazing.

I drove an S60R for 5 flawless years in the best color combo (BSM/Atacama duh) -- maybe my favorite car I've ever owned and I _will_ get back into one someday.* Besides being a car guy, however, I'm also a filmmaker/photographer. I had absolutely no idea you were a successful & seriously talented shooter. On top of that, you make clear, concise, well-edited car content with zero fake drama and a laid-back vibey soundtrack. Impossible for me NOT to subscribe! *I still own a 5-cylinder AWD turbo sedan and I love it, but it's an Audi.

I actually was hoping you were intending to do a manual swap. In my opinion, the manual is always best. I personally think the stock Volvo R wheels are the best looking wheels for this car, but to each is own.

We got one in the overseas program in Sweden in 2004 - in 2020, gave to grandson (over 144,000 miles, he got 2 1/2 years out of it but was doing a lot of highway driving so, sold to a collector in New Mexico - so, that wonderful car, lives on.

I had the same thing happen with my charge air pipe after working on my S60R. Was doing a pull onto the freeway and I suddenly hear a large whoosh. Clutch in and engine dead, I friction fitted it and limped the car home, after I fixed it, it was fine. Anyways, love to see these cars being saved, it’s a shame on how many end up scrapped. I have a KZbin S60R thing of my own coming up,

What a car! A few things that Ive replaced, like the bonnet strut, the rear view mirror, but need to take the old central locking sensor out of the old one and fit into the replacement. The solenoid on the fuel filler cap needs replacing and the left hand front indicator has a loose connection, but nothing on the scale of your re-build!@@huntermcmurray9326

big volvo guy here. many current white blocks- the holes you had the most oil in are the holes that get filled by the actual pcv tube when it fails. also the oil cap will fill them if it has a bad seal.

Fingers crossed just the PCV is causing the oil leak! Also worth checking is the oil cap seal. They like to leak. Should try a SUM calibration with those lowering springs. Rear ride hight sensors will we confused sitting a little bit lower. Also ride hight sensors being off will confuse the headlights and will aim at the ground.

Dude, I’ve bought a 1500 Volvo, seriously same price, was a p2 xc70 put a bunch of money and work into it. Similar issues to yours, shot Pcv leaking oil. Did water pump as well as timing. Planned a lot with that car, unfortunately got hit by a motorcycle driving in the wrong lane on a curvy road (he survived with minor injuries) but so sad that my wagon was totaled out before. 😞 love the Volvo community. Bought an e46 bmw which has treated me well. Sorrry for the long comment, but big fan of you and your videos!! I considered going into photography like you but started welding instead, dude honestly I’m drunk typing this but really relate to you. Love these videos. Thankyou for these vids, maybe I’ll get back into photography since I’m only 20! Fr big fan dude! Goat

Nice job you did. 👍 when it comes to wheels everyone has it’s own taste. :) And I love you showing also your “fails”. Only ine who dont do anything are not making mistakes. This is how we learn. On OEM parts. Sometimes they are actually on the same price level or cheaper then alternatives. Like spark plugs, timing belt. Specifically plastic parts. Brakers usualy ask a lot more then original new one is worth.

My favorite Volvo model that is on my bucket list of “Cars I’d love to own when I grow up.” I’ve repaired many cars in my short 53 years but never have I seen a sketchy banjo bolt that could wreck an engine! Yikes!!! Looks fishy to me and I say, “down down with designed obsolescence!” Also, if I owned this project vehicle here’s a short list of mods I’d do ASAP: 1) Catch Can for turbo. This is a simple bolt-on add on that prolongs the life of the turbo by trapping blow-by vapors and reducing water content in the induction system … thus reducing wear on bearing etc. Cheap to buy , easy to install, and works great (just gotta remember to empty it every 6-10K miles). 2) Iridium spark plugs. Though pricey ($12-$20/plug) they last 100K miles, run cooler than other traditional anode materials, give a brighter feel to the ignition charge, and open up slight gains in mpg and in hp. 3) Engine-bay-wiring harness replacement. These wiring harnesses are segmental and probably still available from the dealer. By far this is the simplest way to bring peace of mind. As soon as I see exposed wires I don’t wait to see the hell that awaits, I swap the old harness for a new one. I’ve been there and never want anyone to suffer that craziness. When swapping in a new harness I try to correct the oversights/cost-cutting measures of the manufacturer by adding additional heat shielding to wires in regions of high heat by sheathing the wire bundles in thermo shielding made by DEI and heat reflective tape on any single wire sensors such as O2 sensors, thermostat sensors, etc. This is a low-budget investment that could save thousands of hours of suffering in the future. But I would not dare a manual swap!!! Beyond my bandwidth of abilities and don’t see gains in such an undertaking. But thats just me. Keep it rolling, bro! This is a Ferrari beater that deserves a renascence!

Incredible job! This Volvo series is like a daytime soap opera, the plot just never ends. Can you easily pull out the plugs in a few hundred miles to confirm if the oil leaks on top of the head have been stopped? It sounds like the job of changing the head gasket is one I would never, ever wish upon a friend. Although it would make for more good TV... Cheers! 🍻✌
