I can vouch for the power of belief 100% Been having "tight" hamstrings my whole life to the point I thought I just wasn't built for it. I would stretch with the others after group dance practice but could barely go down at all because the pain was terrible and even if I pushed through it like I was told to do it just didn't seem to have any effect. Had to drop dancing because of an injury (and money) and became very inactive, then I threw my back out trying to put a shoe on. A visit to the physio and he couldn't do anything for my back, but noticed my hamstrings and showed me stretches to work on them because being unable to bend properly meant I was compensating with my back. So I dropped thinking "I could never" because of necessity. If you've ever had terrible back pain you know how debilitating it is. I didn't want to live like that. Then I found your video about nerve gliding which helped a lot, and today I touched my feet for the first time. Mindset is so important. Don't resign yourself to "never". If something hurts or doesn't seem to work, figure out *why* that is. Progress might be slower than you want but it really is the journey that matters most, not the end goal. You'll get there eventually but for that you *need* to keep going at it. Believe in yourself, and be *kind* to yourself.

MY MOM LOVED THIS!! She asked me to help her get back in shape for the new year and I started her with some upper body MadFit. Then I bring up this channel and she's like "No no no. I can't crow. I can't do that fancy stretch. My body just doesn't work like that" and I say "Trust me, you're going to like this one." And here's the LL lady saying "Some people's bodies just don't work like that AND HERE IS ALL THE SCIENCE AND STUFF!" and my mom, a career chemist was like "Yes! More of this!"

Just woke up and enjoyed listening to your voice. I just couldn't stop smiling listening to you and watching all these cute demo.. I'm thin but hard as a log and 3 yrs ago I couldn't even touch my toes just barely passing my knees, now I can put my palm on the ground but still have long way to go as I still can't hug my legs or pancake. Probably another 3-5yrs! And probably another 5yrs for a split! But no matter how long it'll take I'll keep practicing until I reach my goal! Thanks for the motivation! Fighting! ! 😂😂🤣🤣

This is so helpful. I, like others try to stretch in some ways and can't do it as well as someone else. You then start to put yourself down thinking you arn't as good as others. But with other movements you can find it easy and another person can't do it.

This is the first time anyone has explained this. I have always wondered why while my muscles are very flexible, for the life of me I cannot open my hips. No yoga or Pilates instructor have ever explained this to me when I’ve asked. Like the pigeon pose literally hurts my knee because my hip joint won’t open adequately. Now i know that I’m not somehow deformed just built differently. Thank you.

Great video, I really like your stuff, I wish I'd done your mobility+strength workshop this weekend. Like others, I really appreciate your teaching style. I don't know if you do the more cerebral side of yoga - but if you do I'd love to see a vid or 2 of mindfulness / how to meditate. I am learning but you seem to really give me insights with the physical side so well, I think you would also explain the other very well. I don't so much mean the spiritual side, more the nuts and bolts of the practise.

Thank you so much for this video. I am in adult ballet and have been for 4 years come this February and I am 50. I do not have great turn out but I have never had great hip flexibility, like when you were sitting crossed legged, it just doesn’t happen for me. I also have spurs on the end of my femur head. I am forever comparing myself to other people in other classes that I have been in even people who are 13 years old and I know that I cannot compare myself to them. I can do a left split but not a right split and my middle split is nonexistent. Also my left hip pops right where the ball enters the cup so to speak every time I walk. I never even considered there to be anatomy differences I just assumed I was old and just not as good as everybody else so thank you again for this video.

I've been consistently stretching for over a year and a half. I have came to the acceptance that stretching is a skill and very individual. My results have been abysmal however still good enough to keep me moving and keeping me out of pain. I still can't touch my toes with straight legs or sit on my knees with my bum touching the floor, knees up in the air and can't sit on my butt comfortably on the floor without falling back. This has been the case throughout my life. Once i got rid of that frustration and made it just part of my routine it was easy to stick to.

The advantage of shallow sockets, whether it's the hip or shoulder, is a greater degree of movement. The disadvantage is the greater likelihood of dislocation. The degree of movements is also dependent on the elastin/collagen ratio in tendons, ligaments and joint capsules. "Bendy" people have a high ratio but again they have higher tendency to dislocate joints.

Great video! Some of us are using mobile browsers that don't get other suggested videos to pop up, like for instance your hip mobility exercise video you referred to in this video, would you mind linking your suggested videos in the video desciption? it makes it a lot easier to watch your other videos you recommend instead of having to search your channel. Thanks!
