Flowerhorn cichlid fish tank mates in a community can sometimes be a complete disaster but other times it works. Buy some dividers in case it doesn’t work out and you have them on hand right away. Flowerhorn tank mates does always work out.

So my husband just tried to pick up our 55 gallon tank and the trim on one side lifted a little just on one corner but doesn't come off. Hasn't even been used yet and was brand new. Can it still be used?
The black trim is I guess just a little protection for the bottom and top but most people just take it off and it doesnt affect it or anything. It should be fine. But if you are super worried just silicone it back. i would say yes, but i would also take it off and re silicone it back on. i did that with my 10g, i picked it up and the bottom trim fell off, so i put a few dollops of silicone on the black piece and let it cure for like 2 months cause i was lazy and didnt set it up. guppy-fish.com/flowerhorn-tan...
It just feels a little looser than the other side of the trim, but isn't actually loose enough to come up. The other side and brace still seem normal. It's just one corner. You can't really see him but he stays in his condo or at the top of the tank and the other fish swim everywhere. No fights or territorial issues thankfully.
Mine tolerate each other I think it has to do with space and hiding spots. I have quite a few pictures of these two together. They even slept next to each other. I have 14 african dwarf frogs housed in four tanks in groups of 3 to 4 with Male bettas. No issues. Those bettas have a low tolerance for fish mates, but have accepted the frogs.
Sounds like a good excuse for a top off/feeding for me. I have 1 betta, 6 xrays, 9 neons and 2 straggler glofish tetras. They all live peacefully. None of them are bothered in the least by the others. They also allow snails and shrimp- but my pea puffer got hungry so they ended up as snacks. This is the best picture I have unfortunately. He is living with around 60 mixed Platys, a few Mollies, some female Swords, mixed Guppies and two Algae Eaters...all in a 4ft tank.
It doesn't work for all bettas in all community tanks of course, but there are a lot of people who have had success with Betta sorority tanks with schooling/bottomfeeding fish. They do well in a healthy spacious community tank that is well planted. Thank you. She's was a close minded individual with animals, but ever since I basically started my own menagerie she's been surprised, lol. I have cats, dogs, & a rabbit that live in peace & my home is mostly clean, lol.
The fluval flex! Great tank. I have 4 of them 😅. I love the shape of the tank and the lights. Everything's hidden away in the back and there's room to add extra media. I have the Marineland and I love it for shrimp but it’s very tall and narrow the others would probably be better for a betta 🙂 plus the marineland one goes for $20 off pretty frequent.
I was debating on the 5 gallon Chi. As someone had one for $50 but willing to sell it for $40. Is it possible to use the filter I was going to use in the 2.5 gallon tank instead of what it comes with or use both?
Note my 2.5 gallon is has NO fish as I was testing the heater and filter. Also was trying to decide on things.
