Notice that the Super Horn doesn't only vanish the Blue Shell, it pushes players away from you and off the track with a whopping accelerations. So even if we could disregard the 21,000 N estimate, it still is incredibly destructive. But then again, one would have to account for the fact that absolutely no one in Mario Kart is human, and they come from planets where the living conditions are hundreds of time harshers. Not to mention, let's be real: these suckers survived the resetting of the universe itself by the hands of Rosalina. So I really doubt 21,000 N of force would actually cause any damage to *them* even if was devastating in our planet. We are talking about Mario, who in Mario 64 could jump into the lava and get away with nothing but mild burns in the butt. If anything, I don't think we have to worry about them. What we have to worry about is *the cars.* That's what I want to see a theory on: what are these cars actually genuinely made of? Why can they resist these collisions?

MatPat, did you know my AP Physics tests are tomorrow?? Thank you so much for making this video when you did lol. Also, p is used for momentum because mass owns the m and the synonym impetus (the word Newton used for momentum) comes from the Latin word pellere (meaning push), giving us our p. And the J for impulse is just convention because moment of inertia already owns the I and J looks similar enough to the I; however, my physics teacher did use I for both, so pick your preference. Hope this was helpful for all my fellow AP Physics students whose death day is tomorrow. Good luck, everyone!

My only problem with it is that you're ignoring one thing: once the blue shell hits the cart it is turned completely into energy, which can be seen from the absence of the shell before and after the collision. (Just a note: the energy seems to be dissipated in the from of electromagnetic waves, based on the omitted blue light). Taking this into account wouldn't the energy be much higher because the total energy of the shell would be TE=(1/2mv^2)+(mc^2), where m is the mass of the shell and v is its velocity. Even if the shell is only one kilogram (I sadly couldn't find a value for it's acceleration to use F=ma to find its mass), and based on its size it appears to be more (even though I'm not taking density into account) than one kilogram, simply by E=mc^2 alone it would have to release and energy of 9X10^16 J, which is roughly 5x10^9 times larger than the value you calculated. Therefore, the ramifications would be immense for the race and all of the mushroom kingdom. Using the explosion calculator and assuming a weight of one kilogram and negligible kinetic energy, the explosion is 2.15x10^13 grams of TNT and would be fatal to a distance of 3km, with damages to structures reaching 72km. In total, a low end assumption would mean the death of not just the player in first, but possibly the entire field, with damage to structures 45 miles away, lung damage 3 miles away, and ruptured ear drums 7.5 miles away. Just thought i'd let you know.
