I had trouble getting my 12 switch unit to work as well... Here is what worked for me... The switches on the unit need to be set to the same as the switches on the garage opener; which might be different than the switches on the old unit. Why? Because once the remote unit is linked to the garage opener, the switches can be changed to anything. This security feature protects from someone "spying" on your remote unit and then setting the switches to the same pattern. So take off the cover of your garage opener; check the switches there; and repeat the pattern on your unit and follow the package instructions from there. Once working, set the switches to anything else and confirm the system is still working.

Genie did not make a 10 switch unit, they had 9 and 12 so I think yours might be another brand, so no this would not work.

I have 2 genie ch125 openers, for which I bought two of these gm3t remotes. However, I didn't know until AFTER I got them and tried to program them to my doors that the opener do not have internal receivers. The external receiver on one of them has 10 DIP switches. How do I go about programming for this, or am I hosed altogether?

What is the make and model of the external receiver ?

I'm not sure... It's a "multi-code" digital receiver... it has brown cover with a blue dip module and 10 switches. Not ver descriptive I know. The second one is a Genie unit with 9 switches. I havent tried that one yet...wanted to send a picture. I can't seem to finagle the cover off the the Multi-Code one to get any further ID.

Look on the back of the receiver you should see model 1090 and freq of 300Mhz. The genie remote is not compatible. You would need a Multi code model 3089 remotes.

Well that figures. The other unit is a genie brand receiver. 9 dip. Should one of the remotes were bought work with that one our did we buy two useless remotes?

My motor is so old and beat up it still wont work the only thing I can think of is that someone scrambled the switches from it's original code on the motor because the motor and remote match and I followed everything exactly and still nothing
