For a supposed improv genius, Kate McKinnon's improv-ed answer states the same basic point over and over. And she spends forever on it. Just like in the film. Same quality as getting a member of the public to do improv.

Also with these interviews none of the actors can say anything bad about the movie or anything about what they really think about it because they´re still under contract, they have to wait moths until they can actually say what they really think about it and talk about any controversial stuff. Man just look at the interviews for Transcendence or Red, It´s downright painful.

Notice the difference in coloration between the original ghostbusters and the 2016 one. The original Ghostbusters was full of earthy tones and basically just looked like the real world. The new Ghostbusters is colored like there was an explosion in a candy factory. This makes you recognize the original Ghostbusters as taking place in the real world, which grounds the film and adds tension to the horror elements, whereas the reboot (remake? re-imagining?) looks like a live action cartoon in addition to all the characters acting like they're in a cartoon. The people who made the 2016 film really didn't understand why people like the original

Okay, I saw an explanation farther up... it's still a pretty obscure in-joke for those of us who don't follow KZbin personalities much, but sorry for being so hostile. I didn't realize how much worse the theatrical cut was than the extended cut that I first watched. (From what I've read about what was added, I still wouldn't say it *sucks*, but it's definitely a markedly inferior film due to leaving out many crucial or entertaining scenes.)

You know I really think the reason that comedies are so loud and annoying these days is that the people who make them think we're all too dumb to enjoy a subtle, smart comedy. Like they have to bash us over the head with the jokes or we won't get it. Like most TV comedies feel they have to have a laugh track or we won't know when to laugh. Jesus.

Eddie at The LMV Could it maybe be that companies are looking at internet comedy, then saying "okay, let's make our movie like a vine compilation or a meme, that's what folks like these days right?" But movies and vine compilations aren't structured the same. When you try to structure a movie like something on the Internet, it doesn't work as well because they don't work the same? Like, a funny vine has to be done in six seconds. A movie has way more than six seconds to be funny, and people are aware of that. Sorry, not sure where I'm going with this.

That whole sequence had only one and a half good jokes, first, he's rubbing his eye through the glasses, when asked why he doesn't have the lenses of the glasses, he replies that they are hard to clean (too me that's enough for a passable laugh and character development). The other half joke you actually see in this video, the "careful with loud noises warning" that make his cover his eyes with the hand. That's an almost joke, don't go explain what happened (miss Wig forgot the "show and don't tell what happened" rule). But then they went the extra mile and killed the almost joke with the same joke but extreme. That's where my sorta bored but kinda entertained face turned int a disappointed frown. Yep I just wasted some minutes ranting longer than they thought about the actual scenes, but I don't care, at least I expressed my thoughts about this god awful comedy. That boosted Chris into Ragnarok snl show.

Why's Kate McKinnon over explaining that Leslie Jones's character fulfils the same role as Winston. It's not hard to understand. Most films have an audience identification character to say "I know you guys know this, but I don't, could you explain?" Even Leslie Jones looks tired with the explanation, she's practically falling forward. Also why did Kate McKinnon have to say it for her?

On that scene your friend was an extra on: in any other job, if someone in charge spent a whole day on a task, and the best they could produce was the results that the film did (for that scene) then they would be in for a serious disciplinary. Firstly on whether they'd spent the whole day working, and if they had why that was the best they could produce. The jokes there most relatively funny everyday people could have come up with in a 5 minute brainstorm. The fact in a whole day, professionals supposedly at the top of their game (and paid as such) came up with that is a huge cause for concern. If that one day was a good example of what it was like most of the time, Sony should have fired Feig, and considered recasting the leads with different actresses. The studio funding a film needs to keep an eye on dailies to see if a film is up to standard or not. On that note Sony failed it's shareholders by not doing it's job, and allowing the production to continue at that level. When it came to unveiling the trailer, it tried to hide it's failure, by accusing anyone criticising the quality of being Anti-Women. This was all clearly a diversion tactic. In the end, Sony couldn't escape its failings, as the film didn't bring in the money required. Hopefully, shareholders start asking why. A female Ghostbusters in itself is not a bad idea, although what would be even better is a team of male and female Ghostbusters. The ultimate irony is that in making a lazy, unfocussed, and weak film, the intentions of having female Ghostbusters has been tainted. Unfortunately when people now say Ghostbusters, and someone says the female one, the automatic response is a frown. This is Feig and Co's unintentional legacy. Not because GB2016 has got women in it, but because it's a bad film. Hopefully, Ghostbusters can be resurrected at some point, and with female (and male) Ghostbusters, and finally it can be proved that people can really like a Ghostbusters with female leads, just to show how wrong Feig and Co were in what they said.

bomba bombom Illumination is a animation company that makes “meh” movies to sell to the lowest common denominator. They realized they don’t have to try in order to make a profit; when an illumination movie is coming out, they’ll make sure of it that everyone knows by spending twice the budget amount on advertising. But: Into the spider verse. Cmon... times may be changing ((Worried for dreamworks being taken over by illumination though.... the shrek franchise ended on a high note and I’m scared they’ll turn a once respected franchise into a pointless cash-grab all over again. There’s hope, though)

EmgoFilms bill Murray in zombie land was not an important character that meant something to that film. He was not important to the plot, and therefor he was expendable. Also Dan Aykroyd, who took the subject matter very seriously; for example if you look at the "he slimed me" scene, it's filmed like something out of an exorcism movie, which gives the humor a lot more substance. The effects are also really great, I remember always getting excited as a kid seeing the ghost wreak havoc before the Ghostbusters hit it with the proton beam and open the trap as the ghost thrashes around trying not to be sucked in. The score is also really great, very unique and definitely something that could never exist now, for example the whole stretch where they enter the building where Gozer is and go up the stairs to confront it, there are all these interesting musical cues and tunes all over the place.

The "almost funny" joke for me was there's one point where they're discussing their reputation online or something after a job, and Kevin comes in to discuss the situation's bad, with the punchline being he's referring to the Chinese restaurant they built the headquarters in. If only because it's a quick subversion, doesn't take the stupidity to non-functional degrees, and that joke is allowed to just stop at that punchline without rambling (the scene continues but that joke is finished quickly).

@Siphon Not ironically. It got at least one genuine laugh out of me. "I'm going to exorcise the ghost" > tense buildup as he cautiously approaches the room > "Get the fuck out of my room". It was a genuine joke with a setup, build up and a punchline that defied your expectation of what was going to happen in a way that still made sense in context. That joke would work even if it wasn't parodying ghost shows. If that joke was in this movie, it would have played out like this. "I'm going to exorcise the ghost". They walk to the room. Melissa Mcarthy says something about soup. They open the door and that 'wacky' girl says something totally irrelevant and 'badass', probably does a 'wacky' facial expression. The ghost turns to them with that 'jump scare' violin and the black woman screams "AWWWWH HELL NAWWHHH!". There isn't a punchline, a bunch of professional """""comedians""""" just do stuff and none of it is funny. We all go home disappointed, except for those of us who are already at home and torrented the movie, we just delete it.

Money, that's the only reason behind all of these pieces of sh*t. Hollywood studios know their movies won't be successful critically, but that doesn't matter anymore - enough people will buy tickets to see them in cinema before word spreads that it's not worth the money. And even then, there are plenty of people who will pay to watch a movie they know they'll hate because humans are weird and we love to do things that hurt us. So we keep giving them money to make sh*tty movies while not giving them any incentive to change. And fair enough IMO. Hollywood Inc. is doing exactly what it's supposed to do - making studios and actors money. Any good that comes out of it by this point is either a lucky accident or the studio wasn't actually aware of what they had. Vision, ideas, meaning, message - all come second to the all mighty Dollar

THIS is why I don't like the new Ghostbusters movie. Not because it's women instead of men, because it's forced and entirely comedy. The original Ghostbusters movies were designed to be cool and sci-fi and great. The plot and story were original, the characters were funny and interesting, and I liked them. I'm a fan of those movies. This movie didn't do that. They were like "ooh, a franchise we can make money off of. Let's shit comedy over it because no one likes these movies anymore." First of all, y'all were wrong. Second of all, I could probably write a better third part of the series than the writers, who got paid massive amounts of money to rehash stupid jokes. But that's just my two cents. Feel free to like if you agree
@lescovahvalich460
@lescovahvalich460 6 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. If men just didn't like it because women are in it, then that would mean they would like it if men were. Except it'd still be a shit script. For people that make out GB2016 was an isolated target of attack, that's not true. It was criticised for exactly the same reasons as other Sony attempted blockbusters, Pixels and the Amazing Spider-Man movies. So on that basis it's not sexism, its equality in holding GB2016 up to the same quality standards as regular event movies. Sony know this, but saw a golden opportunity to divert the ire that I'm sure they're now used to. The ultimate irony is Sony produced the Charlie's Angels movies, which while not great, were entertaining and fun. Men didn't complain about those films, but Sony is content to ignore that. Two of their biggest meal tickets are the Resident Evil and Underworld franchises, both female led. While neither is going to win any Oscars, the point is they have their fans and are continuously successful, so how can Sony say men boycott female led action movies, when some of their best customers for just that are men. Wonder Woman was a female led action movie, but men didn't complain about that, it was universally praised and successful. As your comment shows, what's insulting is that Sony think only men don't like GB2016. And that insultingly women should be grateful and uncomplaining just because here's a tentpole movie with a female cast.

another problem with the improv is that they never stay in character. a good script will lay the foundation for the actor to build on with things like mannerisms (heath ledger joker), but if they're just making shit up constantly then there is no consistency with the character.

Why are the Ghostbusters from 30 years ago more progressive? They didn't hire a bimbo as a receptionist and drool over her. They hired someone who was very good at her job, and acted professionally to her.

lescovah valich That's true. When the actual Ghostbusters hired their receptionist, they didn't fawn over her like a piece of meat, they treated her like a person. Although, Egon did have a thing for her, it wasn't right off the bat, and they bonded a bit first, and they talked about stuff first. I don't know what the hell compelled the idiots behind this movie to even make the damn thing. Was it because the anniversary of the first and actual Ghostbusters was coming up or something? Did they want to make a 3rd movie to pay tribute to Harold Ramis? I think those reasons might make at least some sense.
