I've got one of the original Wilson model 47 mags and it functions as well now as the day I got it. I only use Wilson 47D magazines for my EDC weapon, and I've never had an issue.

When I bought my first 1911 (a basic Colt Stainless Government .45) back in 2017, I was well aware of the reputation of Wilson mags so I bought a pair of Wilson ETMs and swapped them out for the factory Colts. 3 years and about 2,500 rounds later, that Colt has yet to fail a single time. I'll never own a 1911 without replacing the stock mags with Wilson mags before even firing a round through it. Basically stops the mags from ever even being an issue.

Bought my Ruger this year. Would have 1 failure to feed every mag. Then I bought some Wilson combat mags and haven’t had a failure since.

Bill Rogers's "Be Fast, Be Accurate, Be the Best!" is a great book for more shooting history, especially as it pertains to holsters and training regimen utilized by the US military.

At the risk of sounding like a shameless fanboy I would like to say that the gun guys series is one of my absolute favorite things to watch on KZbin. You sir are a legend in the industry and it’s neat to see and listen to your insight and history of your success. I am a huge fan of your products and hope to own a Wilson Combat pistol one day to go with my many Wilson combat magazines.

The origional Wilson-Rogers 47D 7 round magazine is still my favorite. I DO replace my base pads with aluminum or steel base pads (they do wear out over time).

Mr. Wilson -- Please consider creating a video about Armand Swenson. Like yourself, he was ahead of his time, leading what became the way. I've had the privilege of handling and inspecting a couple of his pistols. Still fine firearms even after all the advancements that have come about over the years.

I could listen to these guys all day. Run Wilson 8 rounders in my Colt and love the fact that..very UN like my colt mags, they are not at all finicky feeding HPs. Whereas my Colt mags have issues with everything from Sig, Speer, even Hornady (FWIW, I only use HSTs or ball in my colts), Wllson mags run EVERYTHING. Keep up the good work guys. Now that I'm thinking about it, I need another mag haha. Just got yourself another sale.

I run the 8 round mags also but nothing is gonna get hornady xtp bullets to run in any of my 1911s. Golden sabers, hst, Winchester sxt, hydrashocks no problem, hornady no way. Doesn’t matter who loads them either, corbon , hornady, or black hills, not gonna happen.

Love WC magazines, they're all I use on my 45's and 9mm. Just leave the OEM ones in the case they came in.

Nice bit of information. Im big W.C. fan for 1911s and AR products. And now I know where those leather buffer rings I had years ago passed on to me from an old compition shooter may have came from. He told me to keep them soaking in gun oil untill using them, then squeeze them out before using.

Am always interested in the history of firearms and their evolution. How did the model 47D name come to be?

In the future, Wilson 10rd 9mm mags will be recognized as a key factor in keeping 1911 sales up. Back in the 90’s, we played with Colt 9mm 1911s and the whole thing was a stinker. In large part due to the magazines. IMO, the future of the 1911 is 9mm. And Wilson made it happen. For ALL manufacturers. Regards, Marky

The 47D and the ETM 500 are the best 1911 mags out there, period. If you have a flared magwell, the 500 couldn't be "perfecter"!

I've replaced all my 1911 magazines with Wilson magazines. Obviously, not an inexpensive proposition, but it's a "life insurance" policy that can't be compromised.

Why the change in the follower, from the 47 to the 47D? I have several 47D's refitted with the original 47 follower and spring. They run smoother in my opinion

I tried to like the 47d's. I have always had problems with them in my Colt GM's. I recently gave up on them. I went to Metal Form Elite's. And my feed issues went away.

Yep. Hate the 47Ds. Weak springs that need constant replacing, plastic followers that gouge all to hell, and they turn 1911s into push feed guns instead of controlled feed. If I were given 100 47Ds I would trade them for 50 Colts just so I know I had magazines that work right and last long.

Rifle Shooter Channel I agree and they are harder on the extractor because they push feed. They are a band aid cure for a gun that is not functioning correctly or using Ammo way shorter than g.i. Ball.

Ah yes, the 47D. The only magazines I've ever owned, that would consistently flip live rounds out of a gun, and onto the ground. That's quality right there.

Strange. I have never had an issue with 1000's and 1000's of rounds during the last 15 years. What did you end up using?

@@9ZERO6 Using? I ended up chucking the mags in my ammo can of junk mags, and going with Checkmate flat back dimpled GI style mags. Two brand new Wilson mags that would flip live rounds, did it in several different guns from different makers. Kimber, Springfield, and Colt. Guns that never had that issue with any other mags before, but it was worse in my problem child hardball gun.
