I recently discovered your channel and I am so excited to watch a video or two everyday! I have been cooking since i was 5 years old and I grew up in a Honduran household in New Orleans but I also grew up doing traditional Japanese martial arts (Wado Ryu). So, I was immersed in the culture most of my life and my dream vacation is to tour through all of Japan. I love studying Japanese style of cooking and other asian styles. My wife laughs at me because I could eat any asian cuisine everyday if I could. These videos have been the most helpful I have ever found and so genuine. I love that you learn the proper meanings of terms and the step by step process. I do want to ask one question on this dish, what is your fryer temperature set at? Katsudon is one of my favorite dishes to eat and plan to make this very soon!
@Maury_DeLeon8 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for the quick response, I most certainly will try most of these recipes. Haha, you forgot to answer my question though. Fryer temperature for this dish? :)

Totally made this on accident last night! I made Italian pork chops and was like, "I'm not going to throw away this egg." So I put the onions I cooked in soy sauce and sesame oil and cooked the eggs. Minus the rice, which I guess takes away the Don!

500k subs specials? C'mon cameraman, your turn to make sushi now. Hehe. edit: Where can I get Hiro's knife?
@RNG-9998 жыл бұрын
Search on KZbin Nove Kitchen and Bar Knife Merchant They buy all of their knives from that website and have done numerous videos on their dealer and the owner of the site.
@nimay138 жыл бұрын
Devil Chaser Searched it but did not show up anything similar to the one in video. One of the older clips mentioned he uses Kikuichi WGS series of knives but not the same. Also mentioned another maker but still not it. Went to Knifemerchant.com, tons of knives but I rather have Hiro confirms which one is it. I wont spend 150-200 bucks on a wrong model/make.
@stefanusrianto87818 жыл бұрын
To get 10% off all your culinary needs, visit www.knifemerchant.com and use code NKB10 at check out which is good for 10% off your entire order on everything you see there. They can ship internationally too; you just need to see what your import taxes are. Probably from here.

In case you haven't gotten it from the more recent videos done on Hiro's knives, he's using Minonokuni knives from Knife Merchant presently.

Another amazing dish. I would love to have Master Hiro's knife skills but I wouldn't have any finger tips. You guys have too much fun. I told my son in law that if you're doing something you really love and are making money, it's not really working. I think that's the way working should be.
@williammatthews29488 жыл бұрын
At one time in my life I drag raced, did some predator hunting for large cattle and sheep farms in my area, I did some limited gunsmithing by building extremely accurate target rifles for several law enforcement officers, and I did some woodworking. I loved all of these activities, but then I met the woman (at my new job) who would become my wife. After we married and finally found the house we agreed on, we gardened, bred and trained dogs, worked full time, and were pretty busy people. That job was hard with having to move a lot of heavy items. It wore my back out and in 2002 I hurt my back at home. That injury was so devastating that I had to stop working all together. Now I'm not able to do too much without negative physical consequences. I miss some parts of my lifestyle before I met my wife, but she's my world. We have an amazing grown daughter and a wonderful son in law. I have a few regrets but I'm okay with my decisions. Life goes on and I try to make it as fun as possible.
@williammatthews29488 жыл бұрын
***** That would be greatly appreciated. My back injury was totally my fault. I picked up one of our dogs, a 75 pound Boxer who was a really timid female who had gotten out of our enclosure and she freaked out. She just curled up in a ball and wouldn't move. I tried everything but I didn't want to drag her and possibly hurt her. I bent over at the waist instead of at the knees and picked her up, and subsequently ruptured two discs at the same time. It was the most pain I have ever experienced. I've been in auto accidents and fell about 40-50 feet off a cliff in 1987. It still hurts. One thing that helps me is to do something I tell my daughter to do from time to time. At least once a day, simply close your eyes and smile. Surprisingly it helps me cope with the mental issues of dealing with chronic pain and nerve damage. I don't know why it helps, but it does. We wish you, your staff, and your families a very happy and safe holiday season. Please contact me anytime. I'll go to your website to give you my email. Thanks again. Take care.
