Kinda vague. I understand loosen those 2 hex set screws but then you left us hangin. How do you adjust? And why? I understand the hook needs to pass at a certain height and slightly away from the needle but you didn’t explain how to move it

My hook timing is perfect but when rotated, it hits at the surface of the hook. What do I do?

Do you have any juki machines that are computerized , and sews like a inch pattern. They kinda look like this machine , but they just sew like a inch every time you hit the peddle

Thanks so much Steve! I've been looking for days for information regarding timing a machine with no safety clutch. Your video is the first I've found showing the timing adjustment screws inside the oil reservoir and thankfully it matches my machine, and solves my dilemma. Is my assumption correct that the machine you're demonstrating on has no clutch? All other horizontal axis hook machines were timed from further to the right of the bed shaft and outside the oil reservoir. Thanks again for the help!

This machine is a DNU-1541S with the safety clutch.

@Sewinggold Thanks Steve. After looking at mine again I realized that there was no adjustment screw inside the oil reservoir, so my assumption was incorrect. I was reluctant to adjust the hook on the shaft end as I assumed that one screw was set in the keyway groove on the shaft. It turned out that my machine is super basic with no safety clutch and no groove in the shaft. I ended up timing the hook and setting spacing to the needle using the three hook clamp screws as there was no other spot to do the adjustment.

Can you do a video on the Nakajima 280l on hook timing

I do not have that machine in my shop.

Thanks for showing the proper timing but you didn’t show how to adjust the hook. I get those set screw need to be loosened for the adjustment, then what??? As a KZbinr that makes how to videos a lot I found this frustrating. Thanks for your effort though

Thanks for what you've shown, yes, that is what proper timing looks like, but you really mean it when you say you don't want anybody to do it themselves. You don't give any useful details about how to reset it if it's not as you show it. If you are taking the time to make a video, why couldn't you have the service manual handy and show or read the specific instructions and measurements? Lots of Juki 1541 users don't have a Juki mechanic available and have no choice but to do it themselves and this won't be much help. If you want to see what a proper instructive viideo should look like, see some of Uwe Grosse's.
