Hi Robin. I was a late learner but I can honestly say that I have learnt more about crochet from your videos than the books I bought ! Incidentally, my 13 year old granddaughter ,who lives in Sweden, showed me her crochet bumble bee and I discovered that she had found you as well ! I am doing your cluster stitch circle in a square blanket with the Hayfield yarn and I wondered if you had any tips for calculating how much yarn is needed to do the squaring off and joining in the Scheepes Colorcrafter ?

I’d really like to make this as a baby blanket for my friend’s new grandchild. I love the colours you’ve chosen and wondered if you could advise how many balls of each colour I would need for a standard sized baby blanket, sort of cot size I’m thinking of? 😊
@HookedbyRobin5 жыл бұрын
Hmmm good question - you'd probably need at least 2 balls per colour for the circle sections? The balls are only 50g so not massive amounts per ball (I'm not the best at gauging how much yarn for a project as I have a tendency to just "wing it" 🤣) You definitely need more of the cream for joining! At least 6 balls? *disclaimer* I'm guestimating! It all depends on your tension and overall size of blanket If you aren't a fan of just eyeballing it and wild guess work (LOL) then the sensible thing I'd recommend is perhaps getting one of each, see how many squares you get from that then you can calculate how much more you'd need :-)
@suzannewallace62165 жыл бұрын
Hooked by Robin I have a tendency to overestimate how much I will need and end up with many left overs for that stash busting blanket that never gets made! So I’ll take your advice, one of each and see where I get to with that - thanks for your time and help, it’s very much appreciated. 😊👋

@hookedbyrobin Hi Robin, thanks so much for this tutorial! I've made lots and lots of circles and want to do the continuous joining method. When I follow the link, it goes to a video which shows pre-existing square rounds, rather than circle. I'm not sure whether I'm supported to follow your squaring technique in this first video (I'm commenting on!), I guess so, but you say in the video to only to that if you want to join it one by one ( rather than continuous joining). Sorry if I'm totally missing the point :-D Would be so grateful if you can clarify, thank you xxx

Since I'm fairly new to this, I'm wondering if you could tell me how many squares I need to complete a throw/afghan size blanket?
@HookedbyRobin5 жыл бұрын
Hi Kathleen - there is no set answer as such as it depends on a couple of factors; how big you want your finished blanket to be and how large each individual squares works up :-) I'd advise to make a square, measure it and then you can work out how many you will need to make a blanket of the size you want! (I hope that makes sense!)

I followed the video to make 40 of the first round cause I have a big project but now I can't use any of them cause somehow I always end up losing the last stitch. I'll probably have to redo it all and do 12 double crochet in the magic ring just to get this to work.
