I drive a '99 5 spd 3 cyl daily. It goes exactly the speed limit pretty much and that's on flat ground, it's like they engineered it to go that speed and just called it a day. . It's one of the only cars that I have ever driven where, it doesn't matter how far you press the peddle down, it goes pretty much the same speed if you floor it or not. I try to use the least amount of gas possible and only drive it around a small town, mostly on flat streets, it's prefect for that. The few times I am on the highway, it easily goes 65...but that's about it. The 1.0 will keep it going at that speed but don't expect to pass anyone. Any type of hill, expect to downshift and get a run for it.

Someone told you it would do 60 mph? Really? I have a 91 lsi convertible and it's so loud and so low to the ground you think you're doing 100 until you notice farm implements and golf carts are passing you.

I have a 97 Geo Metro 5spd 1.0L and I know its a little slow on takeoff but I can get mine up to 90 mph on the interstate with no problem. I like my car and have had it since 2008 and I the only reason I would ever get rid of it would be that it has air condition but it hasn't worked in years, the summer time in Florida sucks, lol.

What do you think? Can a STOCK FREAKING GEO METRO CAN DO 0 TO 100 KM/H (60 MPH) IN 1 SECOND?

My 2.0 Jetta was almost this slow 🐌

Drive a '99 metro 1.0 5 spd daily....I had a '95 2.Slow Jetta in the early 2000's and then a '03 Beetle with the same engine right after the Jetta died. Jetta was at least better on gas than the beetle and had more room, the Beetle was worthless and too heavy for that engine. I would take my metro over both cars for sure...figuring in initial cost, gas mileage and overall maintenance.

You could knock quote a few seconds off that with a 5 speed. The autos were known to bog fuel economy and performance quite a bit. Seriously, if you're going to buy a metro with an auto, just get a yaris/echo or a versa. Much safer, more power, same fuel economy. Not bashing the Metro, I have a 90 with the triple in it, and possibly picking up a 2000 with the 4 cylinder mated to a 5 speed in a couple days, but automatic in the 3 cylinder is the most terrible choice you can make when buying a car. An auto with the 4 cylinder is going to be a little less "peppy" as the 3 with a 5 speed to give you a good comparison. That's right, the 1L 5 speed is quicker than the 1.3L with the automatic (despite its 20-30 more hp). 1.3L 3 speed auto - high 13s, low 14s 1.0L 5 speed manual - high 12s to mid 13s 1.0L 3 speed auto (from your video) - 16 ish seconds The 1.3L 16V SOHC, found in 98+ Metros and a handful of 92-2000 swifts, was quite spritely when paired to the 5 speed. Probably around 9-10.5! And they have an aftermarket turbo exhaust manifold available! Add the MPFI (instead of TBI from the 8V 1.3 or the 3 banger), gives the sucker quite a bit of room for modding!

Agreed, I just bought one for a buggy build and the metro pulled on a Mazda b2300 manual 😂😂

Where in Missouri I just got a geo metro coupe 97 and it seems to bog out

That was filmed in Columbia. Check your vacuum lines and fuel pressure. If it's carbureted spray some carb cleaner in there.
