Vitamin C and niacinamide are great products to lighten the skin. It's not bleaching the skin, but preventing dark spots. Also, sunscreen is important as well. Chemical exfoliators sound harsh but are usually much more gentle than physical exfoliators.

A dermatologist told me with products like The Ordinary's Azelaic acid you actually don't have to spot treat your hyperpigmentation because it's formulated in such a way that it targets over-active or abnormal melanin production, meaning it won't lighten all your skin if you use it all over, just the dark spots. Also, that Vitamin C exfoliator is not your dead skin, it's the product. It's a gimmick. A leave-on chemical toner would be more effective and not require all that tugging on your skin. There are great Vitamin C serums out there if you want that brightening effect, which is best to use in the morning before sunscreen, because it boosts it's effects. Speaking of sunscreen, that spf 19 ain't doing nothing for you brother. It has to be at least an spf 30 to provide any real sun protection and you have to wear it EVERYDAY even inside bc UVA rays (main cause of pre-mature skin aging) penetrate through windows and make dark spots darker. Scientists say about 90% of skin aging is from the sun, protect your melanin! They make amazing ones that aren't irritating these days. KZbin "sunscreen for dark skin". Also, wear moisturizer everyday too, before sunscreen or one that has both as long as it's at least 30! Lastly, avoid fragrance/scented products in skincare when possible even essential oils bc they can be irritating, cause skin sensitivities overtime and create hyperpigmentation. Sorry for the word vomit, but I promise it's all valid. Look it up if you want! You have amazing skin and it will stay that way for years to come if you take all this into account!
@kimmacerino49454 жыл бұрын
The body shop vit c peel is NOT a gimmick. I've used it for years. This is how you know- use it the first time and it will peel off all the skin and junk.. dry face... then try it again immediately- pump again and use it again and NOTHING will come off the 2nd time bc all the dead skin is already gone. If it was a gimmick it would peel into bits every time you use it- it will only peel the first time when the dead skin is there.
@briterry49614 жыл бұрын
@@kimmacerino4945 Peeling gels aren’t chemical exfoliants - they’re gentle physical exfoliants (scrubs). The fibers form from ingredients that are in the gel to begin with, balling up from the rubbing motion with some help from oils on your skin. There will be a small amount of dead skin in there too.
@LateefSaka4 жыл бұрын
Given the size of the Azelaic Acid, It wouldn't be cost effective to use it all over - Targeted application is far better. As for the Vitamin C, I'm aware it's the product and not my dead skin cells. In regards to the sunscreen, SPF 19 is actually ok for my skin tone given that I reapply every 2 hours. I have a new video explaining the theoretical calculation behind SPF, reapplication and UV Rays. I also have a video on sunscreens for dark skin. And no word vomit, I enjoy long comments.

Coincidently, I actually don't say what the white stuff is. I literally say, 'peeling, what it does is (see my hand), it's helping you get rid of the dead skin skin cells' on your face which is what it does. I'm not saying the white stuff is the actual dead skin cells but i'll make the messages tighter!

Hi Lateef, so if I use the ordinary azelaic acid, should I moisture first and then apply it after?
@LateefSaka4 жыл бұрын
Hello, it should be placed after your water based products e.g. essences, serums etc., It's really up to you and your skin type. Studies show that if your skin isn't sensitive it makes no difference. However, if you have sensitive skin, applying a moisturiser afterwards can lessen any stingy and redness as well as help your skin barrier. What's really important is to use sunscreen!

@yaaasmine51984 жыл бұрын
be careful with some of them, for example coconut oil is comedogenic (it blocks your pores) which can cause spots
@LateefSaka4 жыл бұрын
Agree with the response below regarding coconut oil, it has a high comedogenic score. Argan oil is the best of the three (mega fatty acids, vitamin E, and linoleic acids). Castor oil also has it's benefits and doesn't clog your pores.

Aside from the sweating, would you say you have oily skin? if so, I would recommend staying away from Vaseline which is an occlusive - heavy and clogs up your pores, speeding up sebum, you want to invest in lighter moisturisers that absorb far much easier into your skin - aloe vera gel (use with another moisturiser), rose water & glycerin, nitrogen hydro water gel. I would recommend using a mild cleanser like the Ultra Facial Cleanser from Kiehls

The Vit C liquid peel is basically a scrub? Right? Since it’s called peel I thought it was meant to be left on the skin
@LateefSaka4 жыл бұрын
Yes it’s a scrub, I think the call it scrub due it’s ‘peeling effect’

Lateef Saka What eye cream do you use bro? And what serum can I purchase other than Vitamin C serum for a more even and clearer skin? I’ve been using a niacin serum in the evening but I feel it doesn’t do anything. I literally have the same skin complexion (and I believe skin type as well) as you.. just very uneven which I’ve been trying to fix

PLEASE ANSWER THIS ! The last product ( the mask) I’m scared to use it because I don’t my face to be bleached so I can use it if I just want my dark marks to fade ??
@LateefSaka4 жыл бұрын
Heyy, no bleaching at all. The product does not include hydroquinone. It's the turmeric and the exfoliant seeds that help brighten the dark spots/areas

Do I use my face wash cleanser before i use the vitamin c peel or after I cleanse

Before the peel!

the reason why they put it on the entire face is to make the skin tone even...other wise its going to look lighter in some parts of the face. i can tell you only applied it to the under eyes because its much lighter than the other parts of your face.
@LateefSaka4 жыл бұрын
Are you talking about the Azealic? It's often recommend to apply in targeted area otherwise you run the risk of different parts of your face ending a different colour. As for my underneath my eyes and I was hoping no one would notice - I had tanned slightly the day before with sunglasses on, giving me an owl effect lol

Broski i got like a light brown skin asian i done a tca 50% chemical peel it peeled off but the area i done the chem peel has left dark pigmentation will it fade gradually overtime or is it permenant
@LateefSaka4 жыл бұрын
This is common with TCA peels, if you don't treat it or take precautions, it will stay. Incorporate SPF (both UVA/UVB protection). You may want to look at using products used to solve hyperpigmentation(Kojic Acid, Glycolic Acid, Azealic Acid and potentially hydroquinone)

Hi, I’m just wondering do I have to use all of these products, because I’m afraid to put too much stuff on my face, and if not which ones should I use?
@LateefSaka2 жыл бұрын
Nope, use what you think works best, I personally like the azelaic acid the best!
